Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Prairie du Chien

I stayed a couple of nights while traveling. It was extremely quiet and clean despite having many guests. It was a very nice hotel with friendly staff.

Staff was friendly. Room, on initial view, was pleasant, though I immediately noted a smoky smell in this non-smoking room. Loved the window seat! The carpet is awful and shower does not drain well, which left me in standing water by the end of my shower. Sink didn't drain well either. I found a quarter and a paper clip on the floor by the air conditioner, so if vacuum doesn't have a crevice tool, a new vacuum is needed! I NEED an outlet at the counter for my laptop. Why can't I access my Netflix account from the TV? Breakfast was good. Outside landscape needs trimming as tree is growing over sidewalk. A decent place to stay, but needs attention to detail (and definitely new carpet at the very least).

We were traveling through the Prairie du Chien area, and stayed at the Microtel in that city. This was a good place to stay, with friendly and professional staff, clean and attractive rooms, and a good breakfast area.

Nice open lobby area with privacy design elements creating quiet space for conversation, business or watching television. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, well-maintained. Simple breakfast. Coffee available all the time. I had a single room; it was quite small, but it was clean and nicely decorated and had all I needed for one night's stay. One feature I really appreciated was a multi-unit electrical outlet box at the bedside. I use a CPAP, so finding an electrical outlet usually means moving a night stand and unplugging a lamp. It was nice to have extra outlets so handy. There were several nice details, such as an extra plate on the wall inside the door so the security lock did not damage the wall and the full television channel listing placed with the TV remote; no hunting for the listing and maybe never finding one... Also, the side entrance doors were secured with room key access only. As a woman travelling alone, I appreciated that. I would readily choose this hotel if I pass through this area again.

The room was dirty cob webs, carpet was very dirty! I was afraid to sleep there. The afternoon front desk person had green hair and looked sloppy. I complained about the room to her and the morning person nothing was offered for a refund. Never again!

I will never stay in another Microtel ever again. I was in town for business and looking at the reviews, it seemed fine. I greeted the front desk person, who was wearing a baggy t-shirt and long green dyed greasy hair. Once I got to my room, the cover for the air conditioner unit was broken and on the floor. The same lady from the front desk came up and shoved it back into place. I went to use the restroom and the toilet paper was almost out and not replaced. Next was the shower drain screw that fell off or was broken. Lastly, this put the cherry right on top of the cake....I crawled into bed and I instantly smell stale urine and feel wet. I WAS SITTING IN PEE! I was then moved to an upgraded room for no cost at 11 PM. The next morning, I tell a different front desk lady about my experience and she said she had heard about what happened. I requested a full refund and she mentioned she will let the manager know and give her my name and number. The manager was supposed to call me 3 days ago......

Wife and I were very pleased. Staff was great. Room was small but totally adequate. Our only complaint, the mattress was crazy-firm, like the floor only harder. Breakfast was fine! Staff kept the food coming. With our senior discount, the price was OK. We will be looking for Microtels from now on.

The place is run down, dirty carpet, blood stain on sheets look to be from a person that had a leg wound, broken toliet seat, power went out at 11pm. Attendant never came when we checked in. Found our paper work and key on the desk so I signed it and took room key as it was after 6pm and a long day of driving. Never will come back.

There was no toilet paper in our bathroom when we got there. The pool was very small. They did have chips and cheese in the lobby in the evening. Breakfast was OK. The room was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful.
