Met an old friend for lunch here having not been here for many years and was very very pleasantly surprised. The pub is in a superb location on the edge of the river, perfect for a potter about or a leisurely stroll as well as central for some really good Dartmoor walking. This is a lovely old Dartmoor pub, all its features retained with lovely old oak settles, proper fire in a log stove, whilst being comfortable and welcoming. (The toilets were immaculately clean). Good range of ciders - can't comment on the beer asI don't drink beer. The staff were superb- very warm, humorous, couldn't do enough. Food was very very reasonable with large portions (jacket potatoes, baguettes, pizza, as well as a good range of the usual fish and chips etc) and tasty nosh for a more than reasonable price. I had to ask them to check the bill to make sure they had charged us for everything as it seemed just too low for the good meal we had enjoyed. We ended with a pot of tea that yielded 6 cups but was only charged as one pot for example and the landlady wouldn't charge us anymore - we compromised by asking her to put the change in the tip jar. Very jolly, cheerful staff who seemed to really enjoy their work make such a difference. We will definitely be meeting there from now on.

I stayed at the Inn and loved the atmosphere, the food and the range of drinks at the bar. It has been beautifully renovated recently and has a great mixed of modern but still retaining the old settle seats and wood fired stove. I will most certainly stay again and try some more of the menu.

We received the warmest of welcomes from Karen on arrival and her jovial personality shone through for the whole of our visit. Our room was not furnished in our style but it's individuality did not stop it being comfortable. We were spoilt for choice when it came to selecting our evening meal from the fabulous menu. Our choice of lamb rump with pea and mint puree and palenta chips was delicious but our one criticism was the lack of any veg. Breakfast was of the usual self service style with the option of a cooked meal if required. Overall a pleasant experience and in todays economic climate not bad value for money.

Unfortunately today wasn't the pubs day. I have given 2 stars because the pub is lovely and the lady working behind the bar was great. Sad to say the food side was shambles. Well over an hour's wait for our food and we were the first to order. The chicken curry was just a runny soup with about 5 pieces of chicken in it. As for the so called chips....... More like boiled potatoes cut up. Very disappointed.

Great place to stop for a break if you’re out for a ride / walk. Food great as always and good range of ales. Really friendly staff and dogs are welcome. For those traveling on motorbikes there is a 10% discount. Accommodation is available but I’ve not used the facility yet.

I've just come from two days at the East Dart Inn and I was greatly impressed. (I used it as base to go fishing up in the Dartmoor National Park.) The room was fresh and modern; the food was great and the staff was genuinely friendly. Couldn't recommend it more.

The steak was cooked to perfection… The wine selection was also very good. If you have room, I would highly recommend trying one of the home-made desserts. Karen and her team are doing a fantastic job and deserve this moorland hotel, pub and restaurant to be a success.

I descended from a day's hiking on the moor a broken man, and received an incredibly warm welcome at the East Dart Hotel/Inn. The staff kept the bar open a little longer for me (normally closing when it gets quiet), fed me snacks, put me up in their their bunk house (the rooms looks fantastic too, but I didn't think to enquire at the time). Then the next day with taxis in the area being in short supply and expensive, they arranged for a friend to drop me back at my car in Meldon Reservoir. They are currently trying to find my engagement which I stupidly left behind. I cannot recommend their hospitality enough. Thanks so much guys, you revivified a broken man and helped him get home xxx

We stopped in for a coffee while driving around. They had real decaf coffee which was a win! And the staff were very friendly. We met the owner who was lovely. Although we didn't stay over, the rooms look amazing and will definitely recommend to friends who are looking to stay in the area!
