Had to be in town to attend to my elderly father who lives in an assisted living facility. Needed a place for the night. My usual hotel was sold out, so thought I would try the LaQuinta. What a bad idea that was! Check in went smoothly in the beginning. The young lady at the front desk was very pleasant. Went to our room. Looked at the beds and immediately saw dirt on one of the beds. It was enough that I didn’t feel comfortable staying in that room. So went back down stairs and asked for another room. The young lady (failed to get her name) said no problem. She even went the extra mile and went upstairs to make sure the room she was putting us into was good. So it took a little while, but we sat in the lobby and decided to buy a bottle of water from the cooler. Well my first tip for travelers. Bring your own water. They have Wal-mart Great Value water for sale at the hotel. Which doesn’t bother me. Water is water. But the price is what shocked me. Of course I didn’t find that out until after I opened my bottle. They charge $3 a bottle. So don’t buy there. Go to wal-mart and you can probably buy a 12 pack for less than that! Back to our room, the second room was ok. The beds were ok, though the comforter was stained. The TV was rather small for the size of the room. The bathroom was standard. The one office chair needed to be replaced. The covering was peeling and coming off. Next morning woke up to visit the breakfast buffet. Well that was on par with the rest of the visit. Did not see any employee who was taking care of the breakfast area. The counter was covered in waffle batter and debris. It was disgusting. I went ahead and made a waffle. Once my waffle was done I started to look for syrup. Well all I saw was sugar free. So I had to go to the front desk to find any employees. Asked someone if they had any regular syrup. The woman went to go ask someone. So she came back to the breakfast area and started to look through the cabinets. Well she didn’t find any. I mentioned how disgusting the counters were. She agreed and just walked off. So with no syrup, I decided to leave and just grab something at McDonald’s. So my second tip for travelers, find another hotel. This place was one huge disappointment after another. And I realized why I avoid LaQuinta hotels. It never ends well for me
