We loved our stay at the Place at the Sea! It is easily accessible by car. The entire property is well fenced and guarded by two friendly dogs. We enjoyed hanging in the spacious common area, which is covered by a tall and wide shelter, where we dined, laid in a hammock, and chatted with fellow travelers. The common area is open to winds coming from the sea and it’s great! You get a key to the gate that gives you an access to the waterfront outside of the compound. Unfortunately, you cannot swim there, but you can sit and enjoy the gorgeous Caribbean. We watched beautiful sunrises there! We stayed in Coral, the closest building to the ocean. It was lovely to listen to the noises coming from the sea. Everything was clean and looked freshly renovated. TV had Netflix, Prime Video, Telemundo, and some other streaming options. The kitchen had all we needed. In the evenings, there were some flying bugs, which might be a seasonal thing, so you might want to bring some bug spray. No bugs were inside of our place though. The manager Olga and her helpers were very kind and attentive. They lent us an umbrella and chairs when we went to the beach. Our original plan was to drive up to La Guancha waterfront (10 min ride from the Place at the Sea) and catch a morning ferry to spend a day at the Caja de Muertos island, but we learned the Island Venture Water Excursions stopped their ferries until further notice, so we asked locals and they recommended a few beaches in Guánica (35-45 min drive to the west), where we spent a great day. We highly recommend the Place at the Sea and would love to return in the future!
