My husband and I recently stayed here for a week. We have traveled extensively and were immediately struck by the atmosphere, the grounds, and the friendliness of the staff. The food was excellent. The waitstaff service was prompt and attentive. The beach was in very close proximity and uncrowded. It gets a bit still and hot from around 11-2, but we expected this. You can sit upstairs in the bar area to catch the breeze, which we enjoyed anyways, as we were fascinated by the nature we could see with our field binoculars. There are insects, but we anticipated this also, and as long as you have repellent, you will have no problems. August is the beginning of rainy season, but the storms were short and lovely, as they brought gusting winds and the howler monkeys out for the evening. The best time to see the monkeys is either first thing in the morning or around 4-4:30 pm, as I discovered by befriending Benjamin, the delightful front gate attendant. I was able to get excellent pictures of birds, native squirrels, and other wildlife, as well as several videos of the monkeys. The staff is able to arrange a variety of excursions, from trips to Bijagua to see the sloths, bird watching, snorkeling, and more. By far, the most significant attribute to the resort is its staff. Management: HUGE shout out to Emanuel, Shirley, Benjamin, Alan, Maythe, Carlos, Jean Carlos, and Yorxi! Each of them was exemplary!
