Dream Bocayna Village

My husband, two grown up children and I loved staying here for various reasons. Our apartment was spacious, clean and very comfortable and as we were there out of the main season we were lucky to be upgraded to a room with a plunge pool, which we used a few times. We had a great view from our very large terrace and the landscaping of the hotel was really lovely. The swimming pool was of a good size with a lovely terrace and there were plenty of available sunbeds at all times. The food was of great quality with plenty of choice. I liked the idea in the evening of ordering the main and helping yourself to starters, salad, desserts etc. There were 2 meat choices, 1 fish choice and 1 vegetarian choice. My daughter and I who are vegetarian enjoyed all our meals. The breakfast and lunch were both also good. We chose the all-inclusive package which included drinks - the wine was ok but the Cava was very good. We also had cocktails, soft drinks and very nice beer. The location is about a 30 minute pleasant walk along the sea front to the Harbour and about another 30 minutes walk along the promenade to the largest beach. However there is a smaller quiet beach within a 10 minute walk. The staff were friendly and helpful and we all really enjoyed our stay.

Brilliant, relaxing and peaceful place. No loud music. No pool games. Just perfect chilling. Bungalows are so private with own sun beds. Full kitchen facilities if required. All inclusive food was very good but did become a bit repetitive. Private bar between 11-3 could be improved but ok. Would definitely recommend and return.

On arrival we were disappointed Our Jet2 coach transfer dropped us on the road where it was impossible to see the exactly where the hotel entrance was - upon asking he pointed to the steps which my husband had to drag our cases up Reception was nice but hot and needs air conditioning We saw 3 reception staff during our holiday and sadly 2 were lazy and unhelpful and any question was met with the answer “it’s not possible “ however Winnie was super helpful and made everything possible - without her this review would be quite negative The total is nice and quiet but is in need of some TLC which I understand is happening as some other appts have been updated We did have a few issues with some things but as before Winnie was absolutely fabulous!!!!! We stayed B&B - breakfast is OK but we started to give it a miss after a few days as it was just so repetitive You can walk to the Marina to n about 30 minutes but really need a taxi anywhere else If you want to relax in peace and quiet this is a nice enough place but with investment it could be do much better - maybe consider a small shop in reception for water and croissants etc - they really are missing a trick there

We got off to bad start when the bus driver of JET2 coach dropped us on main road instead of taking us to the ‘drive through’ parking area, we pulled our luggage in semi darkness (22.30 hours) up steep incline and down to reception…..receptionist gave us map with bungalow number and we were left to pull cases in semi darkness up and along to find our bungalow Bungalow comfortable and spacious, air con vg (no need for room fans), and bonus with spacious private terrace with views and several seating options. pleasing Canarian ‘garden’ environment, and quiet ..peaceful . Food varied and appetising (becomes repetitive if there for a stay of 7 plus days), enjoyed langostines and prawns on two nights…. friendly staff. Super fresh omelettes cooked to order in the morning. All inclusive house wine served by glass or bottle in restaurant was of good quality, mild and fruity. We didn’t use Pool Bar as expensive charges for international spirits….local spirits tried once, poor quality. 30 Bus is just around the corner, and great service every half hour, and great value to centre of resort, but taxis also inexpensive (3.50 Euros to Marina) and arrive quickly when booked by reception. With help from Winnie in reception, we enjoyed short travel to Teguise, the historical former capital, via Arrecife, easy connections, inexpensive in quality buses, and also bus to Yaiza, lovely village cum town to walk around, and just 15 minutes by bus. Avoid Teguise on Sunday market, Rubicon Marina market is just very pleasant with lots of quality stalls. Visit the former capital on quiet day. Fav restaurant at Marina is Likein - appetising locally caught shrimps and mussels, and superb fillet steak (just 24 euros!!) This hotel suitable for couples like us looking for spacious private accommodation in warm, friendly, peaceful environment with good food As senior citizens we asked for, and were given, bungalow on first level close to reception and restaurant The friendly JET2 driver for our return collected us next to reception, and was very helpful and more than made up for the less than helpful driver who dumped us on main road on dark night.

Overall Dreamplace is in need of refurbishment and updating but this did not prevent us from having a lovely holiday. We would happily go back for a holiday there as felt it was very good value for money and the location is superb. It however is not currently a 4* place, more 3* Positives: spacious, private and pretty bungalows with lovely terraces and great views. Super main pool with plenty of space to have a sun lounger. Spotlessly clean everywhere including accommodation. Friendly helpful staff who clearly work very hard and made us feel welcomed and made great recommendations for excursions, travel options, local facilities and so on. A peaceful resort which was perfect for us as we didn't want noisy evening entertainment. Lovely local shops and food outlets just 10 minute walk from Dreamplace as well as a super snorkelling beach just a short walk away and easy access up onto the headland to walk to the Papagayo beaches. Easy walk to bus stop but equally easy to have a taxi into busier parts of Playa Blanca which for four of us was cheaper than the bus. Negatives: in need of refurbishment and renovations. It appears some of this is underway but bungalows need refitting although ensuite bathrooms appears to have been refurbished and was very nice. Air con is needed throughout and in need of updating. Breakfast room is not air conditioned and limited outdoor seating which was a shame as nice to enjoy with a breeze. Whilst staff worked so hard at breakfast they are clearly short staffed and tables did not get cleaned and refreshed quickly and buffet stations although refilled became messy and unpleasant. The food team really struggled to cater for my son who has dairy and soya allergy despite advance warning and clear information in Spanish. We had even been reassured via email that the restaurant team would ensure he was catered for. The breakfast chef appeared annoyed at us for trying to enquire what options he could eat and it took a few days before they began to cater for him which is not difficulty to do (I have a background in catering) We have not experienced this in the past on holidays. My son ended up not bothering to go to breakfast some days as it was upsetting for him and one of the main chefs on duty was aggressive towards him and clearly did not have adequate knowledge of allergies (not acceptable). However one of the waiters went above and beyond to purchase items for my son from a local supermarket that meant he could enjoy his food. I think Dreamplace could get itself back to really a top quality 4* resort with some investment to modernise and some training of their restaurant team to cater for everyone.

Having not had a holiday in a long time we were looking for somewhere quiet to relax and this place did not disappoint! It’s on the outskirts of main Playa Blanca but within easy reach of the popular areas, marina etc. We booked all inclusive and arrived too late for dinner, however they kindly left a selection of buffet foods in our bungalow. Breakfast was fantastic and you could order a freshly made omelette in addition to the full buffet breakfast. Dinner buffet in the evening catered for all tastes along with a choice each night of 5 different freshly cooked meals. Drinks and cocktails were all great. Staff are lovely, friendly and helpful and work incredibly hard making sure you have a good experience. Bungalows are spacious and clean, with two bedrooms (double and twin) each with their own bathroom. Views were spectacular from where we were. Pool is clean (if a little cold at first!) never an issue getting subbed for the 4 of us whatever time of day. Pool bar was open 11am to 11pm with a great selection of drinks. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday where it’s not too busy then I would highly recommend the Bocayna Village. Would definitely return if we were to visit Playa Blanca again.

This was a lovely peaceful resort, as it is very quiet this meant the pool was never overcrowded and you could relax here even with children. Pros - stunning initial impressions - very friendly helpful staff - spacious bungalows with separate room and bathroom for kids - fully stocked kitchen - never had trouble getting a sunbed or dinner for food Cons - in serious need of a refurbishment, whilst the overlook was gorge the closer you looked as the days went on you realized how old/not working most things were - jacuzzi broken and staff said had been for months -waterfull had apparently been off for over a year -no sunbeds or nice cushions as per pictures all just basic plastic sunbeds or bare wall to sit on - food: breakfast was great with great selection but dinner was always same same. We ended up eating out most nights - spa is not at this hotel and no one mentioned it even when I asked about massages - no air con in bedrooms and one in living room takes a while to get going Overall the hotel is lovely, peaceful and nice just needs tidy up and fixing. Very close to shops, restaurants. We hired a car for our holiday, the marina is literally a 5 minute drive. You do have to make reservations for the bigger restaurant but the smaller ones you can just walk in. Great spot to go and explore
