My wife and I stayed one night at the Courtyard Dallas Plano Parkway at Preston Road hotel. We won’t be back. I’m a gold elite member with Marriott. First the good. The young man who checked us was very polite and the hotel is very clean. Unfortunately, the good ends there. I was told the bistro wasn’t open that evening. I stay at Courtyard Hotels because of the bistro. It is very pleasant to arrive and not need to leave the hotel to get something to eat. I received several emails from the hotel regarding my stay with several of them mentioning eating and refreshments in the evening and morning. We decided to look at frozen dinners available at the hotel. Only Stouffer’s Spaghetti and Meatballs and another unknown brand were available. The wine selection was equally poor with only one red available. Also, I had to upgrade to a suite to get a microwave. This is Motel 6 standards, not Marriott. There was no offer to offset the increased charge in spite of the hotel being only partially full. There was no recognition of my Gold Elite status when I checked in. The hotel is arranged in a “U’ shape with the lobby at the top of the “U” and rooms down both wings. I asked for a room close to handicap parking. The only handicap parking at the hotel was located on the other wing. There was none at any other entrance. I booked a room with two queen beds and was told the suite I upgraded to also had two queens. It didn’t. It had two standard double beds. There was only one bed side table, so we had to use an overturned trash can for one of our CPAP machines. And there was no manager at the hotel during our entire stay to help rectify the situation. All things considered, this is a hotel with great potential being ruined by poor management and a poorly trained staff.
