"The scenery at Sangke Grassland is absolutely stunning! The Xiahe Yano Sangke International Camping Park is perfectly located; you open your door to an endless expanse of grassland, with blue skies and white clouds complementing the distant mountains. Every photo you take looks like a professional shot. The tent facilities are clean and tidy, the bedding is comfortable, and the en-suite bathrooms are very well maintained. The staff are warm and attentive, promptly responding to any needs. In the evening, the prairie breeze is wonderfully refreshing. It's a truly immersive experience to enjoy the night on the grassland, far from the city's hustle and bustle. The food is also delicious, with fresh ingredients. Overall, it’s a perfect experience. This is a must-visit camping spot if you're in Gannan, and I'll definitely be back!"

"Best hotel I’ve stayed in on my trip. The family made me feel so welcome. The room was very comfortable and quiet. Lots of hot water. Food was great. They gave me a bike to cycle to the grasslands and did my washing for free! Also dropped me at the bus station. So kind and lovely. And the owner speaks perfect English."

"We found this accommodation online, and the environment was excellent. As a family of five, our main goal was to find a spacious place, and the kids absolutely loved the flowers and trees! The bed in this room was huge, perfect for families with babies. The hostess was very nice and welcoming. We'll definitely choose this place again if we come back to Xiahe!"

"We absolutely loved our stay at 山古民宿 Shangu Homestay. The room was spacious, well presented in ******* style, and kept wonderfully warm with underfloor heating. The window-side lounge area was so cozy that we didn’t want to leave after three nights. Dinner was a highlight—the ******* hotpot was delicious, with fresh yak meat, vegetables, and noodles. Breakfast included fruit, ******* butter tea, and tsampa, giving us a real taste of local traditions.
The host was incredibly welcoming and shared fascinating stories about ******* culture, nomadic life, and even how to make incense. During our stay, it snowed heavily, and our children had a fantastic time playing in the snow with the host. "The room was small and poorly soundproofed; you could hear your neighbors talking. The toilet seat had fallen off, and there was no hairdryer in the room, making it inconvenient to wash your hair. The only downside was the beautiful courtyard, where you could relax in the evenings. Definitely avoid the restaurant next door!"

QQiyiguo1125The guesthouse boasts a very artistic decor, which makes perfect sense as the owners are both university art teachers. The hosts are incredibly welcoming; they offered homemade yak yogurt as a welcome treat and even gave us small soaps as a parting gift. If you're driving, it's best to contact the owners in advance, as the guesthouse is nestled quite deep within a small mountain village. You can't drive directly to it; cars need to be parked on the road opposite the village, and a staff member from the guesthouse will come to pick you up on an electric tricycle. The rooms are clean and tidy, and you can even ask the hostess to light a ******* incense stick for you. In the evening, guests from different places gathered in the courtyard to chat, and it felt just like a group of old friends catching up. Breakfast consisted of a few simple, home-style dishes, but the auntie's cooking was absolutely delicious. The pumpkin and white rice porridge, in particular, was incredibly smooth and creamy – I had several bowls!

The B&B also provides a free dinner with two meals to choose from. The B&B does not have its own parking lot, so you need to park at the Labrang Monastery parking lot, which is about 200-300 meters away from the B&B. The breakfast is Tibetan-style, which I am not used to. There is no TV in the room and a lack of entertainment facilities. The location of the B&B is not easy to find. If you drive there, you need to contact the B&B waiter in advance. Although there were some minor problems in the middle, they were resolved in time.

Service: The lady boss is very nice. Because I brought Chinese medicine for my children that needed to be refrigerated, she enthusiastically helped me find a refrigerator to store it. She also helped us add a mattress to the room for two. The service was very enthusiastic.

GGuest UserThe guesthouse is spotlessly clean and has a wonderful ambiance. The proprietress has planted so many beautiful flowers, which are truly stunning. There's also a lovely terrace on the third floor, and the air up there is wonderfully fresh. Both the owner and his wife are incredibly warm and hospitable. For the price, it offers excellent value for money. We stayed for three days this time, and we'll absolutely choose to stay here again on our next visit!

The hotel is right next to the entrance of the monastery and most rooms have a nice view of the lively main street and the mountains behind. The rooms also have built-in heating so the room is not cold during the colder months. The bed is very comfortable. Staff doesn’t always speak English but they are very friendly. The hotel is a little bit outdated, but I think it is one of the best places to stay in Xiahe because of the location and it offers everything you need.
