We upgraded to an executive room, which was very comfortable. We could not get near enough to the hotel on arrival to park and check in. There is a small very narrow lane way that runs from Wellington St to Murray St with no indication of which way the traffic flows. We parked up eventually on Murray St in a multi storey and fortunately our one suit case was easily wheeled the 100 metres or so to the hotel. The hotel info was all available on the room tv screen. I checked breakfast times and saw it was served up to 10-30 am on a weekend. Next morning we arrived at breakfast at 9-45 am. The waiter looked somewhat taken aback. There was only enough orange juice for 1 person, the tank on the tea maker was dry, there was no butter or bacon. The water tank was refilled, butter produced. The chef lifted the lid of the scrambled eggs and they looked disgusting. I asked the waiter if we could have a fried egg. He had to go find the chef. He cooked the eggs, burnt on the bottom runny white on the top. My breakfast at a cost of $30 consisted of one slice of toast 3 mushrooms, half a scoop of congealed baked beans and half of a very sad looking tomato, plus the delicious burnt egg, one cup of black tea. I heard the waiter and chef grumbling together about breakfast times and their attitude prevented me from complaining and asking for fresh food. It transpired that breakfast time had been changed to finish at 10am. The receptionist enlightened me as we checked out next day. There was still a sign on reception saying that breakfast on a weekend lasted until 10 -30am. Needless to say we breakfasted elsewhere next day. It's a soul less hotel, with about as much vibe as a grave yard. We used the fantastic bar of the new Novotel directly behind Rydges. I also found we could have stayed there at a cheaper rate! Will not be returning.

This hotel should be better than it is due to what seems like a staff shortage. The beds and the room was fine but a minimum of staff was evident so service struggled. If the intention is to economise then they will not survive. I was instructed to leave the car in the adjacent carpark and was left to struggle with our luggage to the hotel where we loaded our own carriage to take to our room, all this in clear view of other staff. Where was the concierge. We had a drink at the quite busy bar and while waiting for service, we could clearly see that there was no concierge on duty. The carriage we used was left in the hall way until we checked out. Now, if you like Indian food you'll love this place. Trouble is if you don't, go elsewhere. I think a restaurant should be more flexible with their menu.

I stayed at Intercontinental to celebrate a birthday. The hotel provided a complimentary bottle of wine, which was very nice. The room was very small for the price paid, and considering the hotel is relatively new, it felt a little dated. We paid extra for club lounge access and wished we hadn't. It has to be one of the worse lounges I've ever visited. It was very dated and had no atmosphere, apart from feeling sterile. The food offerings were very poor. Evening canapes looked like they had been sat out for hours and were of poor quality. Breakfast was even less appetising. It was a combination of dry reheated food and cold food that had been sat out for too long, most of which was inedible. The lounge service was adequate but certainly nothing special and not five stars. On check out, I was asked how our stay had been and said it was adequate but nothing more. The checkout assistant just thanked me for staying. I responded to the hotel's generic email for feedback but received no reply, which begs the question of how much attention and consideration they give to guests' feedback. With so many hotels now available in Perth CBD, the Intercontinental needs to up its game to attract return guests.

We stayed here for two nights after a 17 hour flight from London Heathrow to Perth after waiting more than one and half hours for our luggage we got a taxi to this hotel and the service was very good. We checked in and went to our room where there was tea and coffee available in the room. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable as were the pillow up to the standard of Holiday Inn around the world. We went down to Ivy and Jack's which is attached to the hotel. The food was very good but more like share platters and good for the occasional drink rather than a main meal. I believe this is where they service the breakfast if you have a breakfast package with the hotel. This hotel is right in the heart of the city so close to everything but not a lot of restaurants to eat at during the dinner service. Most hotels seem to only service lunches or late afternoon snacks.

Special occasion for our wedding anniversary and well looked after by the Hilton Parmelia staff, and it’s always nice to see long time staff and the meet new. While diamond HH, we were upgraded to a beautiful Kings parlor room for the weekend, had an amazing breakfast in our room, and we always find the executive lounge enjoyable as a relaxing place to go and the food offered is often varied. We enjoy the Samuels restaurant and bar food menu, but I do miss the Caesar salad from the pre covid days. It used to be the best. We have stayed at other Perth hotels, including the DT but the Parmelia still comes out tops for us. Thank you for making the weekend so special.

I stayed a night at the European Hotel in April 2023. Picked it from the many hotels I researched because it looked quaint and unique, and not like a cookie cutter modern hotel, and was so happy that it lived up to my expectations. I arrived early and was greeted pleasantly by the reception staff who arrived at about the same time as me. Was allowed to leave my luggage in a locked luggage room, and to use an upstairs bathroom to have a quick wash up after my flight, before setting out to explore Perth. There is no one manning the reception or entrance after 7pm or so (I think that is the time but I could be mis-remembering), so I was given a key to let myself in should I arrive back at the hotel later than that. That made it feel personal, as though you were being given the house keys! Sadly the famous Miss Maud's Cafe is no longer there, but there was a pleasant little cafe attached to the lobby where I had a hot coffee and sandwich. The hotel's location is very central, I was able to walk to the WA Visitor Center to get more info about what to do in Perth, and after a long day exploring, got one of the CAT buses which dropped me off about 5 to 10 minutes walk away. The room, a single, was small but perfectly adequate, with a clean bathroom and lots of hot water. The only not-so-nice-thing was that there was no view, there was just a small window quite high up which looked at another block. But for somewhere just to clean up and rest, it was more than enough. Would recommend staying here if you are not into those modern, perfect but rather characterless hotels, and would like to be in a very accessible area.

The Westin could be everything you’d want from a great city hotel in a brand new curated precinct with restaurants and bars, let down completely by the incompetence and complete apathy of the staff. The exception was the front desk, with quick friendly service but beyond that it was completely amateur and haphazard. The room service was spotty everyday, and on 2 days the room was not made up, every other day the room coffee cups, milk or spoons or coffee pods or sugar or milk was not replaced or towels not provided. You’d think service staff have a checklist, should be easy right!? The lobby cafe in the hotel called Haven was more like Hell, I had to dedicate a separate review for that as the service was non existent, appalling. Garum again has so much potential, alas the service is astonishingly haphazard, food not delivered, 30 minutes to bring my wine, served up after my meal. Frankly the staff have no idea, the poor manager made up for it, but he is terribly let down by his team, who don’t seem to miss an opportunity to disappoint. Wow so much potential absolutely wasted by something very fixable, if you can’t change the people then change the people! There was clearly a lack of middle management. The porters at the door were equally incompetent or inexperienced, I fumbled my way through the two large entrance doors, and after I made my way through, there was a feeble attempt by one if the porters that lifted his head up from his phone to assist with my hand luggage into my car, he seemed so pleased with himself that he was my knight in shining armour, hopeless. Come on Westin, prove me wrong, really I want this fantastic hotel to succeed in my neighbourhood, I want to recommend you to my colleagues and friends but fix your rubbish service!! Until then I can’t recommend you, I have a reputation to protect something you should care about as well.

Lots of the reviews here, I believe, are reviewing Mercure on Hay (the newer, more upmarket hotel and possibly better of the two although I haven’t seen it), whereas lots of reviews in Mercure Perth on Hay are referring to Mercure on Irwin. I’ve compared the photos and the hotel details and official photos are definitely that way round. SO… this one, Mercure Perth (which is on Irwin St) is the bad one. It’s awful. It’s tired, badly fitted out, dingy and I hope never to stay here again. My room was down a corridor of *****ed (and stained) carpet that made me feel nauseous to look at. The room was ok, the bed comfortable, but more stained carpet, and lots of things didn’t work. Several light bulbs were broken, lots of curtain hooks missing, the room safe didn’t work, the bath had a rusty patch in it. The aircon was too cold for me and I followed the instructions to turn up the temperature but it didn’t warm up. Two phone calls and three hours later, someone attended my room, told me the air con wasn’t adjustable as it’s one temperature for the whole building so the instructions were incorrect. He turned it off (supposedly) and I then spent my stay with no aircon although the room was still cold and not stuffy and the control panel didn’t say ‘off’ so I think the whole thing was just BS and they couldn’t be bothered to deal with it or give me another room. Staff care factor of the attendant was zero, and of the front desk staff, close to zero. I got woken up in the early hours of the morning several times by skip bins being moved around in the laneway outside (very loud chains being dropped in the skip bins and noise reverberation). The next night the fridge started making such a loud noise in the middle of the night that I had to turn it off and use the spare towels to absorb the water as it defrosted. I’m just curious why Mercure keep this one running. Perhaps it’s set at a different price range but it’s not doing their brand any favours with two Mercure hotels so close together, especially with all the reviews mixed up.

The hotel location is incredible. Centrally located and well connected. The parking in the area is a kitchen costly. The staff and service are average. Staff seemed too stressed out, and while breakfast is just interested in your room number. One day, we were asked about 4 times what our room number was! The reception staff seemed like just doing the job..we asked for ice and were told to pick up from under the stairs. When we reached there there is no way to take the ice. So we went back and asked and were told oh sorry they forgot to give us the ice bucket...no apologies..just that the buckets are in the restaurant. So to end it really incredible location, room decor, staff and service can really improve.

I really don’t like writing bad reviews but this place just doesn’t deserve a great rating. The location is good and the rooms a big. I did get an upgrade to a suite, but everything is very dated. On my window, they had masking tape which I suspect was to avoid wind whistling through. That’s not a really great look though. Check in was a disaster. Admittedly it was Friday evening and there was a lot of people arriving for the weekend, but clearly they weren’t planning their staff needs properly and it was ridiculous. Not only that, but their EFTPOS machine was not working so you had to fill-in a paper sheet. I get technology goes down, but honestly that was just bad. To be fair I was not feeling well when I arrived, so the whole thing just seemed a lot worse than it probably was and the staff were actually quite nice, despite the fact that they were clueless. I had sent a message to the hotel prior to arriving with a couple of specific requests, which they did the absolute opposite of which just made me laugh. They weren’t a big deal, but it’s the little things that count, especially when you’re a diamond member of their loyalty program. I think the place just needs a freshen up and the staff need to get plugged in. I wasn’t actually going to even write a review, but what pushed me over the edge was when I turned on the shower and watched a whole pile of hair swirling around in the bottom of the shower stall.

GGuest UserFrom the moment we arrived to the last second of our 2 night stay we were treated like royalty, the room was luxurious with well appointed amenities and soft luxurious bedding. The view is to die for looking out over perth city and the Swan River, and really is breathtaking of a night time. The hotel has a vast amount of thing to entertain you so realistically no need to leave, (and we didnt). Everything is within walking distance so it is very well situated. The pool area is divine with infinity pools and 2 jacuzzi's for those slightly cooler days. The bars and restaurants are excellent with a wide variety of food and drinks to satisfy every craving! Even if it is some dirty old mcdonalds haha. Overall this experience was a 6 star experience. Definitely one we will be doing again very soon in the future.
VVivianMuThe hotel is in a great location, just a 5-minute walk from Perth Central Station. The room facilities and decoration are good, but it is a bit inconvenient for Chinese tourists that there are no slippers. Breakfast is ordered, with a main course, coffee and juice, which is good not to waste
IIvy Heng XYNot my first time in a doubletree Hilton but this one was rather disappointing.
We arrived at the hotel at around 7pm, check in was a breeze, except that there is no porter to assist. We have many pieces of luggage but thankfully the receptionist. Jessica, helped us with the luggage before my husband was back from parking. Parking is a slight walk away and it is not very convenient.
Please give the breakfast a miss. Our room came with breakfast but the breakfast was so bad! Everything was hard and cold, there wasn’t even coffee like cap or flat white available. When we asked the waiter for it, we were not informed, but the coffee charges were billed to our room charge.

Frankly, I like the room layout but the housekeeping has some room of improvement to go. Though we turned on the ‘please clean the room’ button before leaving for the day, the room wasn’t cleaned until we called when we were back. We were told that room is only cleaned upon request! (But we did request for the whole day). The receptionist who answered the call offered to change the towel only but I insisted my room to be cleaned. When the housekeeping team arrived, he only changed the towel (and forgot the main bath towel) and no vacuuming was done at all. Conditioner was off as someone may have added water to the bottle but the housekeeping team did not check and refill properly too. (307)
Location is convenient, near to many nice eateries but right opposite some adult shop.
GGuest UserThe hotel is in a great location with ocean views, close to the city, shops and restaurant. The staff is extraordinary friendly and helpful, however, the hotel could do with a bit of a face-lift, a bit worn and I wrongly assumed it would provide basic facilities such as a toothbrush. The restaurant staff was equally friendly and breakfast was great and ample, but dinner was a bit of a disaster, could not eat the pork belly, it was one greasy lump, very disappointing. The pool was fantastic, quite unusual and beautifully lit at night, 5 stars. I was shocked by the state of the gym that used to be efficiently equipped and clean in the past. The equipment is at least 20 years old now, rusty and noisy.
GGuest UserStayed here for 3 nights, arriving after long flight from UK. No problem checking in, room in quiet location as requested. Some construction work going on at back of hotel, but nothing that disturbed me in the evening. Room was clean and had everything I needed for a short stay. Corridor and room carpets could do with replacing, but I guess that is a big expense after the last few years. Breakfast was more than adequate, with plenty of choice. The hot buffet was all fresh and frequently replenished. The young man in the restaurant (sorry I don't know your name), was very helpful and polite. Reception were helpful in booking a very early morning airport taxi for me, and on the morning of departure made certain that I safely got into my taxi. As a solo female traveller, it's the little details like that that mean so much. I would definitely return if i was visiting Perth again
GGuest UserThe environment is really good, next to the stairs to the kings park, the sanitation is also good, the large floor-to-ceiling windows in the room are super comfortable, and the facilities are complete, and there is a free zone to city within two minutes walk. The only disadvantage is that there is no parking space
GGuest UserGREAT FRIENDLY CHECK IN THE HOTEL ITSELF IS REALLY GORGEOUS. COMFY BED VERY CLEAN. GREAT TO SEE A HOTEL BAR THAT WAS VIBRANT AND NOT OVERPRICED. FANTASTIC LOCATION CLOSE TO EVERYTHING. WE HAD A GREAT STAY HERE
XXIAOBINThe hotel is in a good location. It's more than ten minutes' walk to Terminal B and the supermarket, but the rooms are very small, like a capsule hotel, the Internet is very slow, and the parking lot costs 25 days a day, which is really expensive!
HHappiness19881864545I have stayed at the hotel over the past 15 years and it has gradually become a little run down here and there but the worst change is the service, nobody has a smile or greets you as a guest, your just another inconvenience for them. I stayed in a ”Deluxe” King room last week and the Bathroom was dirty and the Shower over Bath is a disgrace (see photo). I don't think I'll be staying again until some marked improvements have been made.
PPHILLIP JAMESLocation:
The Quality Hotel Ambassador Perth is about 20 min walk to the main malls in Perth- Hay Street and Murray Street Mall. However, there are multiple buses along Adelaide Terrace, (2 min walk to bus stop) connecting to the main tourist area. All buses in free in downtown area. In addition there is a RISE supermarket - a 5 mins walk from hotel, selling fresh fruit, pies and pastries. This is a large supermarket for this location & is open 24 hours. It also a 5 minute walk to the Swan river.
Hotel:
The lobby is not that appealing and often there is a musty spell. There are different deposits when you check in - that charge over $200 on Saturday but $100 when you check in during the week - pretty strange, obviously the weekend guests cause the most damage. However, on departure that will do a reverse transaction on your debit card, to get the deposit back in a more timely manner. There is no key card entry to the room, but physical keys for room. The room have a good desk and basic chair. There is no sofa. However, the best highlight is the bathroom. A full bath and a separate shower with nice floor to ceiling titling. The shower was great. However, there is an old TV that needs to be replaced. There is a microwave in the lobby, but not in the rooms. I requested a king bed, but got two single beds together. One bed has little support, but the other bed was fine. Overall, there are some goods rates for this hotel - so check the price to compare to other options.
