"I had a very pleasant stay at Erhai Lakeview Apartments. First photo is the view from the room, absolutely stunning! Room is big and spacious with a lot of space to open our luggage. We were assisted by very friendly and helpful staff 小乐 throughout our stay and he provided us with food recommendations around the area as well as possible itinerary or activities to do in Dali during our stay. Additionally, the apartment is conveniently located above a convenience store, local eats, a cafe, and options to rent e-scooters for transport around the city. The street opposite also has many good food options. Would recommend!"

"This hotel is great! The room looks exactly like the pictures online. The location is super convenient for getting around. They even rent out electric scooters on-site, and the staff are really helpful with directions. As someone from Malaysia who isn't familiar with the area, renting a scooter and following their explanations and maps was no problem at all 😂.
They also offer a shuttle service to Lijiang, which is really cost-effective and convenient. They pick you up right at the entrance. You can ask the friendly guys at the front desk – it's truly a one-stop service! 👍🙏

"I'm so glad I booked this Chinese courtyard hotel. The lobby courtyard's lotus pond was crystal clear, and the pavilion had a wonderfully ethereal and artistic vibe. I loved the Chinese solid wood furniture and the antique lanterns in the room. Front desk staffer Xiao Liu and the other service personnel were very enthusiastic. They upgraded us to a suite for free and even helped with our luggage. The breakfast was especially exquisite, and the rice noodles were delicious. When we checked out and picked up our luggage, the manager even gifted us rose jam, making this a truly worthwhile trip to Dali."

"This B&B is just a few minutes' walk from Dali Ancient City, which is super convenient. As soon as you enter, you'll be greeted by two adorable Shiba Inus named 'Shiyi' and 'Huanxi'. The host is incredibly welcoming; he helped with my luggage right from the start. There's a map of Dali's attractions on the wall, and he explained everything in great detail, from recommending sights to warning me about tourist traps. Since it was the off-season, the owner even upgraded my room for free!
The B&B offers breakfast and dinner daily. The breakfast rice noodles were delicious! They also served mung bean soup in the evenings, but I always got back too late to catch it.
The room was very clean and equipped with smart home devices. A simple 'Xiao Ai, open the curtains' completely freed my hands. The B&B also has its own bar and tea room. After a long day of exploring, you can come back to relax with some tea or a drink, and the host can even sing with you!
The staff checked in on my itinerary daily and offered helpful suggestions. I stayed for three nights this time and truly felt at home. I'll definitely choose to stay here again the next time I visit Dali!"

"The room layout is great, allowing you to enjoy a cup of tea while overlooking Erhai Lake. We encountered tidal flow lanes (5:30 PM - 6:45 PM) on our way to the hotel. We called the hotel directly and added Diana, a staff member, on WeChat. She guided us to the hotel very accurately and even recommended local Dali food and travel routes, saving us a lot of trouble. "This hotel is really great! It's located right by the North Gate of the old town, making transportation super convenient. Taxis can drop you off directly at the hotel entrance. The owner even lent us an electric scooter to use, and there's a parking lot for rental cars. It was so easy to get to attractions like Chong Sheng Temple, Longkan Pier, the Old Town, and Xizhou Ancient Town during the day. The Old Town is huge and you can't see it all in one day, so it's nice to be able to go whenever you want. "Traveling with my child, we skipped the crowded Old Town in Dali and found a hidden gem instead.
Just a seven-minute drive from the Old Town, we stumbled upon the gentle embrace of Yue Shanhai – nestled by the mountains with a view of the sea. Directly accessible via National Highway 214, it's a secluded paradise where even the wind seems to linger.
You don't need to go all the way to Kyoto; their garden is already overflowing with romance. Sparse greenery, blossoming paths, and the elegance of a dry landscape garden blend seamlessly with Bai ethnic style. Every step feels like walking through a poem. Strolling with my child, even time seemed to slow down.
We stayed in a two-story courtyard suite. Opening the window revealed the mountains, and closing the door, we could hear the wind, cherishing every moment of our family time.
The hotel lobby is spacious and elegant. The sweet scent of afternoon tea lingered, and while I sipped a refreshing drink, my child chased after the floral fragrance. This is what perfect travel looks like.
The sunrise was the biggest surprise! No need to brave the cold by Erhai Lake; the third-floor terrace offered a complete panoramic view. The morning light pierced through the clouds, illuminating the outline of Cangshan Mountain and splashing across the turquoise waters of Erhai. Wrapped in the warm glow, we took photos before heading downstairs for a hearty breakfast, feeling a warmth spread through our hearts.
With the wind carrying floral scents and the mountains holding simple joys, staying with my child between the mountains and the sea, I finally understood the meaning of travel: planting gentleness and beauty into each other's time.

The surrounding scenery is absolutely beautiful, and our room was clean, tidy, spacious, and bright, with all the facilities being new and well-equipped. The bedding was especially comfortable to sleep on. When we first arrived, we felt a bit unwell due to the altitude sickness, but the owner and the front desk staff were incredibly warm and helpful, constantly checking in on us and assisting us – it was so heartwarming. The breakfast was a rich buffet, on par with a four-star hotel, with a great variety and delicious taste. Our entire experience was fantastic, and staying here in Dali was totally worth it. Highly recommended!

The environment was beautiful, and the rooftop terrace offered stunning views of the Cangshan sunrise and sunset, overlooking the ancient city – truly delightful. The room was bathed in warm sunlight, and enjoying tea while gazing at the ancient city from the bay window was a real treat. The owners were incredibly kind, warm, and genuine, always ready to help with any request. They gave us practical tips and food recommendations that didn't disappoint. There's also a very friendly dog named Wangcai and two adorable cats. When we left, they even helped us with our checked luggage, showing genuine care for their guests. I'll definitely recommend this place to friends and will choose it again if I ever return. I'm currently in a Lijiang B&B, unable to sleep, and the contrast makes me miss that place even more – it had a special kind of warmth.

Location – unbeatable and worry-free
The location is extremely convenient, right in the heart of Dali Ancient Town. As soon as you step outside, you’re surrounded by beautiful ancient streets and alleys, full of local character. 2-3 mins walk away from the Bars. Attractions, cafes, shops, and amazing food are all within walking distance, which made exploring incredibly easy and stress-free. From check-in to check-out, the entire stay felt completely worry-free.
Service – warm, genuine, and unforgettable
The biggest highlight of this guesthouse is without a doubt the host. The lady boss is unbelievably friendly, considerate, and welcoming. She is super nice, enthusiastic, and very meticulous in everything she does. From contacting me in advance, patiently explaining routes, to sharing travel tips and local suggestions, she made me feel taken care of even before I arrived. Staying here truly felt like coming home rather than staying at a guesthouse.
What made this stay truly special was the personal connection. She even invited me to join a barbecue with her and her friends. We had drinks, chatted late into the night, and shared stories about our cultures, life views, and experiences. Even though I only stayed for two nights, that evening made my time in Dali unforgettable. I felt incredibly lucky to have arrived back just in time for the barbecue.
The Bai Jiu, the Yi Zu-style barbecue pork, and the homemade dumplings she made were all fantastic. The atmosphere was relaxed, warm, and full of laughter. Even small details were fun, like the pot cover shaped like the Rolls-Royce Spirit of Ecstasy, which gave us a good laugh. It was one of those nights you don’t plan for, but it’s the highlight of the trip that you will remember for a long time. 😎
Room & Sleep Quality – quiet, comfortable, and well designed
The room itself was quiet and very comfortable, with good sound insulation and a thoughtful renovation design that blends modern comfort with traditional charm. The bedding was clean and high quality, and the bathroom was spotless and well equipped. I slept extremely well every night. The entire guesthouse is beautifully designed, cozy, and relaxing, making it easy to unwind after a day of exploring.
Value – exquisite and worth every penny
This is a highly cost-effective and exquisite accommodation. You can see the attention to detail everywhere, from the design to the service. It perfectly balances the charm of the ancient town with modern convenience. It’s absolutely worth experiencing, and I would not hesitate to stay here again on my next trip.
Final thoughts
I returned home a few days ago, but when I think back on my trip to Yunnan, Dali still stands out as the most chill and relaxing place and Meishan Guesthouse is a big reason why. The friendly host, the warm atmosphere, and the meaningful conversations made this stay truly special.
If I could give 11 stars, I would. Hands down one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. Highly, highly recommended. Will definitely be back!!!

The owner is incredibly thoughtful; they offer a pick-up service, and even reimbursed our taxi fare when we arrived. On the second morning, they brought breakfast directly to our room at 10 AM since we hadn't gotten up yet. We enjoyed breakfast in the room while watching squirrels hopping outside – the environment is truly wonderful. the sea-view soaking tubs, the retro French-style corridors, the South France castle, the exotic Moroccan courtyard – everywhere is perfect for snapping pictures. I took so many beautiful photos, I'm thrilled!
I especially want to commend the service: airport transfers, help with luggage, afternoon tea, goodnight desserts, breakfast, and a dedicated private butler service group. The attention to detail was impeccable, and they were always ready to assist! My dress for photos got dirty dragging on the ground, and they even helped me wash and dry it. All the hotel staff were so warm; I truly felt like a VIP.
