Socialtel Atitlan - Formerly Selina Atitlan

I booked a “suite” / room with ensuite bathroom. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable. However hot water in the shower was rather lukewarm. Also, no one came to make the bed / clean for 2 days. There was also a lot of noise from the street going to the harbour. The pool could be heated up considering it was not crazy warm ouside. Net, poor value for money (125$/night)

Wow! Amazing place to relax in Panajachel before you take a 25q boat to the rest of lake atitlan. This hostel is right next to a boat dock so is a great place to move from , also shuttles will drop you off directly here too. A great place to relax, play pool, play table tennis, make a fire in a teepee, read in the library, find a quiet nook, lay under the trees. Beautiful place, great staff, friendly, good food, reasonable prices, perfect base! 10/10!

I ended up staying here because I missed the last Boat to go to my Airbnb in Santa Cruz. However, if I would have known how much I would have enjoyed my entire day being at the Selina. I would have spent my entire week here. I was in a private room with Private bathroom and balcony, and for that Price. I also had an air conditioner and beautifully hot showers. The staff was extremely helpful, allowing me to check in quickly, and get right to sleep. After a long day of being on the road driving through the mountains in heavy fog. After my check-in, I was very happy to see they had a Late Night kitchen, (which in at the lake , Late Night means open until after 9pm) With many different options . I would’ve liked it for there to be at least one or two more traditional Guatemalan options, but I was very happy with the Caesar salad and hamburger. The prices at to the restaurant were reasonable , especially considering how the pricing and mini Selina hotels can be, but most importantly, this Stuff was extremely friendly and conversation and attentive. I can say the same thing about The breakfast, where I had the eggs Benedict, which is actually served on toast instead of English muffin . I will definitely stay here again. In my future travels to Lake Atitlan.

The property needs some urgent upgrades; dated furniture; very old towels and bedding; bathroom renovations; better care of the garden. Swimming pool was dirty, no one goes in the water. Staff is nice and friendly. Breakfast options at the restaurant were good and tasty. But I wouldn’t recommend this place until needed upgrades and renovations are completed. Customers should not get used to pay for poorly maintained properties.

We booked a double room and were very pleased with this. Well decorated and clean. The bathroom could do with a revamp but everything worked well. The staff were excellent and very friendly and helpful with any questions. There is a good bar / restaurant on site. It's noisy at night - but that's from the dogs barking! Would stay here again.
