Hotel Joli

Location was great--right in the heart of everything. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed after being misled by the very positive reviews. We were given 2 rooms next to each other, but they were very basic and not what was promised. The desk clerk moved us to 2 different rooms on separate floors. Some peeling paint, and uncomfortable beds with old bedding. The bathroom was so small, and I had to turn sideways to sit on the toilet which was jammed between the shower and wall. Breakfast was really basic. The breakfast waiter was rude and unpleasant and had no pride in his appearance. He yelled at us when we tried to fill our water bottles from the bottled water in the breakfast area. Said it was for breakfast only and we should buy our own water, We had a car and finding parking was nonexistent. Had to move it constantly.

This hotel unfortunately has more negatives than positives. This is no reflection on the staff who were helpful and friendly but there was a language barrier. Positives The location is great! We were able to walk to most attractions. There was a plethora of great restaurants nearby and we were spoilt for choice. Negatives The hotel and rooms are dated. We weren’t expecting modern but the rooms are tired and they need updating desperately. No The bathroom lock didn’t work. It was small with no window. The shower tiles and curtain had black mould. We opted for a superior room. This was spacious and on the 3rd floor. The hotel has the tiniest lift! It says it holds 3 people but my husband and I could just fit and that’s without luggage. The air conditioning was temperamental. It wasn’t on constantly - but the noise would wake me up. It was too hot to sleep without it. The TV does not have any English speaking Chanel’s. Parking - there is free parking where there is a blue line. We didn’t move the car as hubby was afraid of losing the spot! Driving is manic as no rules apply! Breakfast- reasonable choice but repetitive. If it’s offered as an optional extra - don’t bother. After 4 nights - I was moody from lack of sleep and we decided to leave early. We found an apartment and paid an extra £300 to move elsewhere. Don’t have too many expectations. If it’s a cheap hotel for a couple of nights in a great location then this is the one!
