Booked and paid for hotel in May for overnight stay in November as we had early flight from Glasgow airport. On arrival at 10pm - late check in until midnight - the receptionist told us there was no room available. We were told there was some fire damage from a week ago and our room was effected. No reason why we hadn’t been told in advance. There was no obvious fire damage and staff were unable to show us the damaged room when we asked for proof. They said they would sort out a refund but we would have to find somewhere else to stay. Not their problem! We eventually found another hotel and had to pay further costs. In the days and weeks that followed, there was no contact made by the Scotia Hotel to explain or apologise. NO refund was provided and despite my phone calls and emails they failed to assist in any way. *********** were largely unhelpful themselves, stating it was for us to resolve with the hotel. They even suggested we weren’t entitled to any refund as Scotia had told them we were a No Show. Incredible. Absolutely infuriated by the whole thing. *********** eventually refunded us for the second hotel we had to book. This was after lengthy correspondence back and forth. My advice - DO NOT BOOK A ROOM AT THE SCOTIA HOTEL!
