I use many different hotels on a monthly basis however this was my first visit at this hotel. I want to congratulate the team at holiday inn Oxford as I had an enjoyable stay and everything was clean and tidy. I was greeted with a warm welcome and although the hotel was busy the staff were very accommodating. The bar staff were very friendly but I would like to especially mention Lauren who served me with a smile and was very efficient considering how busy the bar was. Thank you for an enjoyable experience and I hope to return soon (14/10/22)

The hotel is located in a convenient location where we can easily commute around the city centre and the Bicester village. Sadia was really nice and helpful. She greeted us with a warm welcome. Rooms were quite small but they are clean and tidy. Overall, it was a great time staying at the hotel.

Unique food, impeccable service! I attended a large dinner in the ballroom. The chandeliers and lighting in the room created a beautiful atmosphere. The servers were kind and attentive. Main course was a unique aubergine dish - something out of the ordinary - and it was wonderfully prepared. I’ve eaten at The Alice for dinner as well as tea, and now I know that banquets are as delicious as the restaurant.

I came to the UK for 12 days this time. This is my first time writing a review because I want to tell everyone not to step on the pit. 1. The hotel is newly opened and the location is very convenient. It is next to Trinity College and the commercial street. It is convenient for eating and playing.
2. The hotel room is large in this location because all the facilities are new and relatively complete. The corridor is a bit like a maze, and there are four doors to the room.
3. I want to complain that parking is inconvenient. You have to go to the parking lot of the nearby shopping mall. The navigation basically can't get downstairs, so you need to find it slowly by yourself.
4. Check in on August 1, 2024. The hotel is newly renovated. The smell is very strong and choking. The window of the room cannot be opened, and the smell cannot be released. It feels like a human filter for a night. The smell is so strong that you can't open your eyes🥵
5. Be sure to pay attention to the toilet button in the hotel bathroom. It is easy to get your hand pinched when you press it. I was pinched. Due to language problems, I did not negotiate with the hotel. If I were in China, I should have stayed for free.

Faulty Towers has nothing on the George. The structure of the bathroom meant you couldn't sit forward on the toilet seat unless you had no right leg. The tap dripped, the shaving mirror was missing from its bracket and the bedside light didn't work. There as no management around, and the young, friendly staff seemed not to be properly trained. There is no breakfast room. You get a 10% discount from a very basic restaurant next door.

Obviously I didn't book a barrier-free room. I didn't take a shower and the entire bathroom was wet. I almost slipped. The sheets were laid out randomly, the pillows were uncomfortable, and the mattress was too soft. The hygiene was okay.
Outside the room is a river and a castle

Very comfortable. There is a large lawn outside the window. It is refreshing to look at it!
The check-in process was very fast. They also helped my Chinese friend who did not speak English to connect to the WiFi. Seeing that I was always helping to translate, they grabbed several welcome chocolates for me. Then the bed legs in my friend's room were unstable, so the science department arranged to change the room. They also gave each of us a bar drink and snack voucher to express their apology. And their restaurant is very attentive.
It is a 5-minute drive from the train station and Oxford University, which is very convenient.

The hotel is in a quiet location. We were placed in another building, but the air conditioner was broken. The hotel placed an electric heater, so the room was not cold. There was an electric towel rail. The floor was carpeted, but the floor felt uneven. There were two rooms very close to each other through an outer door, and the sound insulation was slightly poor. I could hear clearly when someone opened the door in another room in the early morning.

Amazing find just beautiful! We came for the night as a little family hen do. My mum, sister and niece came Saturday afternoon and stayed till Sunday. EVERYONE was so welcoming helpful and polite. Our rooms were amazing with everything you needed. We had a balcony overlooking the grounds to the the river Thames. Nice and clean with really comfy beds. We used the pool and steam room Saturday afternoon unfortunately the jacuzzi wasn’t working and had been drained but didn’t stop us relaxing. Our dinner Saturday night in Napiers was delicious! Our waitress Abby was polite, chatty and lovely to chat to. She was really helpful. Breakfast was awesome! And great that you could take a coffee away with you in the disposable cups provided. My niece wants to make it a regular trip!! Highly recommend

Excellent
GGuest UserOn a recent visit to Oxford I decided to stay in one of the prison cells at the Malmaison Oxford which was a former prison. It was a great decision as the rooms were indeed cells and still have the steel doors and brick walls to prove it. Everything else is completely modern with a large bathroom and nice working area. The location in what is actually part of Oxford Castle is within easy walking distance of most of Oxford's main attractions including the Ashmolean Museum, Bodleian Library and the principal colleges as well as the Westgate Mall. The hotel has a lot of nice modern art, much of it with a prison motif, albeit tongue-in-cheek. The staff is young and friendly and the clientele is quite mixed. I saw a Ford Focus parked beside a Ferrari. The dining room and bar are quite small at first glance until you realize there are many side rooms into what were once cells. The full English breakfast was great, but for dinner we went to some of the nearby pubs and the small Italian restaurant Prezzo which literally right next door. My only complaint was that the internet in the rooms is spotty, no doubt because of the thick walls and steel doors. But it works fine everywhere else. This is a luxury hotel, but the prices were definitely quite reasonable for the experience offered.
GGuest Uservery nice boutique hotel with a good bar and restaurant below. The room nice, clean, minimalist but good furniture and decent shower. Only one complaint - if you are not a fan of capsule coffee (and I am definitely not) and you just want a cup of tea, it's a pain to have to google the coffee machine to work out how to use it when just a simple kettle would have been fine. Just 4 for the location because of the chaos at the Botley road bridge which is going on till this time next year at least! Lovely breakfast menu with good service.
GGuest UserWe loved staying at the Mad hatter. The location is only 10-15 mins from the city centre, staff was ever so helpful, and the room is very atmospheric, it felt incredibly lush without being over the top and tacky. The room was very clean and felt brand new. Only downside is the karaoke bar downstairs, but they kindly provide earplugs and anyway it stops early. We would definitely book it again.
Booked two rooms, one accessible. Staff at reception were more than helpful throughout our stay. Accessible room was very good for our quite elderly companion. I was less than thrilled dragging suitcases across the square, then up some stairs, unlocking door #1, down some stairs to lift, upstairs to door #2 and a landing and then through a series of swinging doors to arrive at door#3. Subsequent trips without suitcases were fine. Room was large, clean and held no pretensions of anything but practicality. Bathroom was large, very well lighted and clean. I liked the nearness of a couple nice restaurants just through a passageway on the square and all four of us loved the excellent breakfast. Our biggest complaint was the spotty Wi-Fi which forced repeated log ins. We wanted a place that was walking distance to the Ashmolean and convenient to services. Rewley House met the requirements. And once more, the staff at reception were very competent and quite kind.
WwangmaggieThere is a bus station next to the hotel. It is more convenient to go to oxford center. The room size is okay, with plenty of sunlight, clean, and warm. The view from the window is very good. I saw a little squirrel in the morning, and the children liked it very much. However, after the check-in time is 4 o'clock, the check-out time is 10 o'clock, which is really inconvenient. In addition, the room cleaning will only be provided if the stay is more than 5 consecutive days. We have not cleaned the room for three consecutive days. I think it is not very reasonable and needs to be improved. .
KKeith bAs a guesthouse we should compare it to other guesthouses but not when they are charging hotel prices. On arrival the staff was very rude. On being lectured on arrival we were asked to pay beforehand and then told our room was in the basement and my in laws were upstairs. On arrival at room I noticed mould on one wall, and it was 32 degrees and the room had no air conditioning. There was a very small shower room and I am generous if I say the tv was 10 inches. My in laws could not stand in their room, due to the sloping roof and had no place to hang their clothes. I went to reception to ask if they had a room with air con to which he said they were fully booked. I asked about their cancellation and refund policy and was told right now if I wanted it. I went to discuss it with the family when my son appeared and said that we had been asked to leave immediately because our attitude was not to be tolerated. I was upset but nothing major. Anyways I was very glad to see that the nearby travelodge had rooms at a mere £20-£30 more for the 3 days and proceeded to book and leave the said guesthouse. Ok the travelodge is a bit further away but you have taxis, buses and e scooters so no hassle in exchange for the comfort. My wife had stayed here years earlier and said that the standard has dropped significantly, with what was our room having been a breakfast lounge before. Having been in the hotel industry I found the guest house way below standard for guest house standards let alone travelodge/premier inn prices which he is charging. Customer service is key and these gentlemen had none:. Please do yourself a favour and do not stay here. Oxford has plenty of choices do not be fooled. This guest house should be downgraded by all sites and even inspected. Deplorable deplorable and more deplorable. A course in customer care is also essential for the staff here. It was our first day and nearly spoilt my holiday, had it not been for the abundance of options available at the click of a button.
GGuest UserFirst up: do not, under any circumstances, book a room here. Booked a Saturday and Sunday for a friend’s thirtieth. Checked in and unpacked, then another couple showed up for the same room. Turns out the hotel had cancelled our room without telling us (but, notably, AFTER charging us) and then required us to leave our event, come back, pack up all our stuff, and move out, (or “we will take your things and throw them out on the street”). The manager on the phone was unable to explain what had happened, couldn’t access the back-end system, and eventually decided that it was our fault that we’d mistyped an email address (an error on our end BUT we had been in text contact throughout the preceding week and they hadn’t bothered to tell us we no longer had a reservation), and then later that we hadn’t clicked “confirm” on an email we never got. Side note: I’ve worked in hotels for years; this explanation is nonsense; and even if it wasn’t - if you thought we’d cancelled, why did you still charge us for the room? I guess this is what happens when you don’t actually have any staff on the premises to sort out issues. As it was, after booking and paying for a room months ago, we were left stranded in the middle of Oxford with nowhere to stay. No apology from the hotel and it took two weeks of both of us dealing with increasingly hostile management before getting our room refunded. Minus a tenner they kept for themselves to pay for “the diary management’s company’s admin fee” - again, I worked in the industry, we all know that this is nonsense, Eviivo OBVIOUSLY don’t charge admin fees per email, but I guess they fancied helping themselves to an extra £10 for all their hard work in not hosting us. Just really small-time behaviour all round. It’s a shame because the room itself looked nice but I would recommend that you only book this place if you’re fine with not actually being allowed to stay in it.
GGuest UserWe stayed just one night to meet family members for dinner in Oxford.
It is very well located for the city cetre. Despite that, it is in a quiet location and we had a good night's rest in a small but comfortable room.
It lacks the range of facilites that you may want for a long stay. For example, it has no lounge, restaurant or lifts, which is the only reason I could not give 5 /5 for facilites. What facitlities is does have are good: in room tea and coffee making, television, radio and WiFi. Staff are friendly and helpful.
We came by car and used the Park and Ride system, which is excellent. Oxford bus services are good. The hotel is also only a short taxi ride from the station if you go by train.
The hotel was ideal for a short stay and we will use it again.
GGuest UserThe Location of the hotel is perfect for sight seeing and exploring Oxford you can easily get to most of the main attractions in less then a 5 mins walk. We stayed for 2 nights and only opted for the breakfast once personally I wouldn’t bother it was bad. Head to the covered market instead
If it was not for the amazing staff, I would have left and asked for full refund. The manager - I believe her name is Ema, and room cleaning lady, they call her Auntie were amazing. She did everything from cleaning the rooms, hotel, and cooking! She deserves a raise. I think the owner is lucky - did not meet him, but here is my feedback directly to him: You ate lucky to have such dedicated staff. Please acknowledge them and reward them. The hotel has a lot of deferred maintenance. No hot or good pressure bathroom water. Beds are old, window does not work, no light bulbs in fixtures, no heating, very cold rooms …. Etc etc May be you are waiting to sell the place. However, I think you should consider spending some money on capital repairs. The breakfast is terrible. Please try your self the Spanish or bacon omelette!
