We stayed at Mooiplaas during our South Africa road trip. Disappointing experience. Not very welcoming & on check in immediately pushed price list of excursions. Not great after our 400km+ drive! Dreadful breakfast - really poor selection, & terrible coffee. Not good value for money - overpriced by South Africa standards. Plus points... Lovely setting & views. Room comfortable & lots of space. Marshall was very friendly & attentive at dinner. And Ben was fantastic - star gazing with Ben was the highlight of our Mooiplaas experience. Very knowledgeable, passionate, and delivered outstanding service.

Wij hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad in “ Mooiplaas”. Hartelijk ontvangst en alle medewerkers waren gemeend vriendelijke en spontaan. Op de dame in de winkel na, die had( die dag) niets met gasten…… Kamer was enorm groot en authentiek ingericht, schoon ,goed bed en prima douche. Kamers hadden een zitje voor de deur met mooi uitzicht. Zowel diner als ontbijt was voortreffelijk leuk dat dat buiten op het grote terras mogelijk was. Mooi uitzicht over de bergen en het zwembad, kortom een heerlijk verblijf!!

The service was just excellent, big shout out to superman John for taking such good care of us and entertaining us. The views, the food, the ostrich tour, the friendliness of all the staff, the cosy beds, everything was top notch. Thank you for making us feel part of the family.

Lungo la Route 62 che dalle Colline di Vigneti - appena fuori Città del Capo – porta sino a George abbiamo trovato questa eccentrica e deliziosa Guesthouse. Il nostro soggiorno alla Mooiplaas Guesthouse è stato assolutamente fantastico. Le camere sono belle, dotate di patio per relax serale, ed offrono viste mozzafiato sui Monti Swartberg. Piscina purtroppo non agibile considerata la stagione invernale, ma deliziosi lettini ci hanno permesso di degustare un cocktail di benvenuto ed apprezzare il panorama ed il suono della natura. In particolare ci teniamo a sottolineare il fantastico tour con gli struzzi. È stato affascinante vedere da vicino questi impressionanti animali e imparare di più su come vengono allevati e curati. L'ospitalità dei padroni di casa è stata eccellente e ci siamo sentiti completamente a casa. Colazione discreta, cena gradevole, forse leggermente cara, considerando che il Paese più vicino risulta essere distante circa 15 minuti di macchina.

Eine wunderschöne Unterkunft. Ruhig gelegen, tolles Frühstück! Aber was einfach unglaublich war, ist der Angestellte „John“ ! Ein unglaublich netter und hilfsbereiter Mensch, der überall am Schaffen war und dies meist im Laufschritt. So etwas haben wir zuvor noch nie gesehen!! Jutta+Markus

What a treat. Superb accommodation. Staff ( especially Marshall & Ingrid ) were absolutely outstanding. Breakfast was excellent. Ostrich fillet for dinner was fantastic but the rest of the dinner was average. Sorry, but I have to be honest. I would still highly recommend staying here & will go back again.

Well, if you want to know about everything ostriches without having to drive for hours, that's the place : one of the biggest farm in this area. The guiding tour is a must. And you can eat it as well ! But this is just one activity. The guest house is very well managed, the staff friendly, efficient and always ready to help you whatever your problem. Excellent table for dinner, same for buffet breakfast. The rooms are very very big, with adequate heaters (it is cold at dawn in austral winter), and very good beds. Quite refreshing pool, which must be fantastic in summer, and perfect place to admire the southern constellations by night. Just a short distance from Oodtshoorn, and all so interesting places to visit in the Little Karoo, Cango caves, farms, and the Swartberg Pass !
