I recently stayed at the Hotel Umbra, Bagan and it was a truly disappointing experience from start to finish. Here’s a breakdown of what went wrong: The front desk staff were unhelpful and seemed irritated when I asked questions. There was no effort to make me feel welcome or address concerns with courtesy. Upon checking into my room, I was appalled by the state of cleanliness. The bathroom had mould in the corners. The toilet and taps were broken, never fixed. The floors hadn’t been properly cleaned, and the overall atmosphere felt dusty and neglected. When this was pointed out staff came to clean but not to fix anything that was broken. The A/C unit was in the wrong place and wasn't in the best condition. The electricity was turned over during the day which made the heat unbearable. The pictures on the hotel website looked nothing like the actual facilities. The lobby looked modern, but the rooms were outdated and in desperate need of maintenance. For the price I paid, this hotel was not worth it. I’ve stayed at many budget hotels with better service, cleanliness, and comfort. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this place to anyone.
