Horrible!!!! Bugs in unit!! No top sheet on beds. Couldn't stand thought of the nasty conforter touching me, tried sleeping covered with towel..... Felt unsafe with surroundings (homeless fella lurking around) sliding glass door about to come off track...will never return or recommend

Most horrible accomodation experience we ever had. There were small worms on the bed, between the linen and even under our pillows. There were bats in the grass roof and the whole unit smelled bad even the towels due to bat urine. Bed side lamps didn't work. Sofa was dirty and full of stains. Linen had stains on them and was torn. Cockroach ran over my son while sleeping. We packed up right there at 20:00 and left disgusted en dissapionted. Photos on website doesn't compare to the real thing this is frauding people.

The lodge is ideally located, not far from Komatipoort, its shops and restaurants. next to the Kruger Park's entrance and along the Crocodile River. Its chalets are spread along the river where all animals come and go. We saw and heard many of them and witnessed fantastic sunsets from our terrace. We stayed in the unit called Imvubu, which was perfectly furnished, neat and comfortable. It offered an additional bed and lounge on the terrace that enabled us to experience the Kruger nightlife from a protected shelter. The staff was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this unique retreat!

This was the low point of our visit to South Africa - fortunately we only booked for one night. The whole place needs a huge amount of TLC. We stayed in Unit 4 (bizarrely described as a 'honeymoon unit') - it was dark and dingey inside and couldn't have been further away from any description as a romantic location. Badly stained rug and we found blood stains on the bedding. A fitted bedside lamp didn't work, even after we swapped bulbs and a standard lamp had been placed nearby - sadly, the plug for this lamp didn't fit any of the sockets. The outside tabke area was covered in rat/bat droppings, with a pervasive smell which meant eating outside wasn't possible, and the much vaunted river view was blocked by trees. WiFi was only available at reception, about 75m away. There are better places to stay...

I recently stayed at Elephant Walk Retreat (12/2 - 12/12/22) and thoroughly enjoyed this well-kept, comfortable, excellently-located lodge (with separate private and/or adjoining chalets) while engaging in an intense 10-day 12-hour-a-day Kruger N.P. safari. Aptly named, you can watch elephants and other African wildlife from your balcony, walking by or stopping in the river for a drink. Not to slight any of this wonderful retreat's hospitality staff but Elephant Walk Retreat's best kept secret is "Tony," its on-site property & lodge manager/director. He saw to all my lodging and meal needs, and ensured my comfort on a daily basis, personally checking in with me all 10 days to guarantee all was going well. He even personally went to local grocery stores for items I needed but which I had no time to procure. What a fantastic lodge manager! Elephant Walk Retreat is 100% Tony .. and Tony 100% personifies the graciousness of this excellent choice when lodging near Kruger National Park!

I stayed here a few years ago, and it was a relief to arrive after the trauma of Ressano Garcia border crossing. This time we travelled from JoBerg, the last few miles along the N4 in the dark, with sidetipper trucks all over the place & people waling in the road was the hardest bit of driving on our whole holiday. Unfortunately the unit we had booked was in need of a lot of maintenance. Lots of lights didn't work, there were no outside lights, the cooking shed a few yards away had bare high voltage wires poking out the walls and a broken gas cooker. On the plus side, a fabulos place to wake up at dawn & see our first views of the Kruger park.

Stayed at Elephant Walk Retreat in March 22 and we were wowed from the moment we arrived. Fantastic location right at the entrance to Kruger, you can´t get any closer! Amazing views of the river where we were lucky enough to have 2 visiting elephants just as we arrived. There is a beautiful swimming pool for you to relax in after a long day in Kruger or even spend the day beside if you fancy having a relaxing day out of the park. Great self catering facilities just a short drive from town where you can stock up on supplies or eat in one of the local restaurants. If you want good priced accommodation with excellent facilities very close to Kruger this should be your no1 choice! Thank you for a great stay and hope to come back again soon!

Meals on the private deck, punctuated by hippo grunts and good elephant sightings - we had a great time! Lionet, the manager was very helpful and took our suggestions/criticisms with good spirit - they got working on some items immediately.
