Probably the nicest Sunday roast I have ever experience out. We decided to eat here on our way to stay at Alnwick for the week and very impressed with the food all round. Portion sizes were very generous and food came out hot. Excellent service can't wait to return!

Cannot speak too highly of the Cook and Barker - friendly and welcoming staff, great food, comfortable accommodation . Lovely atmosphere in bar and restaurant with an amazing menu choice. Reasonably priced. Have stayed here a number of times since 2005 and never been disappointed.

After visiting a few times over the past 5 years for a meal we decided to book a couple of nights away at this beautiful Inn. The room was bright, clean and comfortable. The bed was huge and very comfy. There was a small area to hang clothes, however lacked coat hangers (only 3!) So would suggest bringing your own. Wonderful food in the restaurant as always and great friendly staff.

Spent 3 nights here, had a very comfortable stay, room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with a large and varied choice. We ate dinner every night and the food was tasty, especially the pie and fish and chips. What makes this place exceptional is the staff, they are welcoming and couldn’t be more helpful. Location near the A1 is perfect for exploring Northumberland.

This place is lovely, visited quite a few times now. Nice bedrooms comfortable beds. Friendly and professional staff, an example, when a confused elderly lady came in who could not find her husband, Enid (who i think was in charge) got her coat and off she went up the road, with the lady to find the husband. The pub is smashing, the food is excellent, good lunchtime/ early bird meal. Of course we will be back.

Good size and comfortable rooms and we slept well. Bathroom sanitary ware not well thought through, wash hand basin wrong choice for size of bathroom. Plenty of car parking spaces for residents However, the food is mediocre and the dining room could do with a good Spring clean. Handily placed to explore places like Alnwick and Bamburgh.

4 nights at The Cook and Barker recommended by friends who have stayed many times. We have not been disappointed. Comfortable room with a really comfortable bed. Excellent food on 2 nights, 1 bar meal and 1 restaurant meal where the shared rack of Texel lamb was amazing. breakfasts are well worthy of their AA rating with a wide choice, catering to mist tastes.. I have had kippers, kedgeree, and lambs kidneys. The restaurant was busy every night..surely a good indication of quality? I have no hesitation in saying we will be back, one day soon

We had been told about this place by a local couple whilst staying at the Northumberland arms hotel. They had said the food was good. We arrived about 5pm ,and we were immediately greeted by a friendly face behind the bar who was keen to help us with the menu on offer for the evening. We sat for a drink and after a short while decided to stay for dinner. The menu was great, as well as the specials board everything was covered from small plates to three course dinner. Our waitress Gladys was lovely , so helpful, and gave us a smile and a cheery word all evening. We had the rack of lamb to share…..absolutely delicious, and so well presented …..treat yourselves to that! A good price too! Our starter was Camembert platter to share, plenty for the two of us with olives , onion relish and bread . Didn’t have a sweet because we were full. The place is so friendly , it was our first ever visit and we felt so welcome. Thank you all, it was quite obvious you are a great team and work hard to give us customers a lovely experience We will be back 😋

My fiance and I stayed at the Cook & Barker a couple of weeks ago for two nights as we had a wedding nearby. From the moment we arrived the staff were so warm and welcoming. Being real Londoners in every sense of the word, we'd forgotten to pre-book cabs for our stay - if you don't drive make sure you do so in advance as it's a super remote location and cabs are often booked up on weekends due to wedding parties. However, the staff went so far above and beyond, dropping us off twice at different places nearby when we were in a pinch, and couldn't have been friendlier. We stayed in the Cook suite which was enormous, luxurious and such a nice treat for a weekend away, would thoroughly recommend it if you're looking to make your stay even more special. We had a late flight back and the staff allowed us to store our luggage until we needed to leave at no extra charge. The pub & restaurant is also gorgeous and the food was great - particularly the Sunday roast. Would thoroughly recommend a stay!
