Cannot fault accommodation and service. Excellent room, food and staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

If you think Premier Inn, this hotel is not dissimilar. The staff on arrival were very welcoming and pointed me in the direction of the adjoining accommodation block. The room was functional and the bathroom, whilst reasonably well appointed, was in need of better better housekeeping and required some refurbishment. Black mould around the bath and in the corners are never a great sight. The shower was almost unusable as the head pointed towards the end of the bath and thus soaked the floor of the bathroom. A fixed head would be a better solution. The food in the Barn was reasonably priced and restaurant was busy with both hotel guests and customers taking advantage of the 'before 7pm' menu. Once again, the staff were charming and efficient. The food is not gourmet but it was hot (big plus), tasty and reasonably priced. Breakfast is served in another area away from the bar and was a little disappointing. There's not much choice and for my cooked breakfast, I received a single burnt small sausage and one rasher of bacon: however the scrambled eggs were perfect. The coffee was, by modern standards, pretty dreadful. Once again, there was a charming lady who eagerly looked after the weary guests. The accommodation block was obviously not a recent addition. the sound proofing between the ground and first floor is non existent and I was woken up at 5.55am by the guest above and his heavy footsteps and shower. If I needed accommodation in the Newport area, I would return to The Old Barn Inn on condition that my room was on the first floor. It's good value for money.

We held our wedding here, and it was so perfect from start to finish. Ryan was perfect, helping with all the details. The whole team at The Old Barn Inn are brilliant. The hotel is incredible. Clean and very lovely. We had the most amazing reception here. It was so well organised we had an absolute ball.

Stayed over for one night as close to Bristol and stopping off after dropping daughter to Uni before travelling home the next day. Lovely venue, pleasant staff, great accommodation, great views and a very good nights sleep. A wedding was in full swing but it didn’t impact on our stay at all. Breakfast was amazing butIf I have any gripes, the Bolognese was clearly microwaved and bland and better bread could have been used for breakfast rather than the clear cheap sliced stuff. Overall very impressed and a lovely evening stay, will be back I’m sure.

A cosy and comfortable Inn, converted from an ancient barn, in quiet surroundings and sitting amidst flowering shrubs which creates a homely and peaceful environment (except when a wedding party is taking place!). En-suite rooms include tea/coffee facilities, free Wi-Fi and USB plugs. Excellent customer service by welcoming and friendly staff who interact with customers as if they have known their guests for ages. Breakfast offered a good choice of tasty food to suit all palates with the ‘full English’ setting one up for a full day.

Location brilliant. Visited Gavin and Stacey Barry Island and relived childhood memories. Walked the Roman Walls at Caerwent and Norman Chepstow Casle. Both are a very close to The Barn. The hotel was friendly and comfortable thanks to the efforts of Sharn(bar), Sue(breakfast) and Deborah(room). The hotel has a rural aspect but you can hear and see the M4. My only complaint was the lack of grabhandles in the bathroom. Although being an active 91 year old I would have felt more secure. I mentioned this on leaving and was told that the management would be informed. This was a memorable visit and I shall be returning.

Stopped here mid route to break up our journey. Thought we would try something other than a motorway services hotel and so glad we did. This hotel was about 4-5 minutes if that from the motorway, but was very peaceful. It’s on the middle of the country with lively views. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the room was clean and well presented with everything you would need. We were on the ground floor and could hear noise from the upstairs room so I understand why some people like 1st floor rooms, but it wasn’t a huge problem. We booked the last room which turned out to be an accessibility room, and it was well adapted for wheelchair users. We ate in the bar lounge and the food was lovely. The menu was clearly labelled for allergies and veggie/vegan options. Breakfast was cooked fresh and also lovely. Overall, this was an amazing find and we will only stay here in future as we regularly go to visit family in Wales.
