Quayside was the choice as it was the closest Premier Inn to the station but also boasted the riverside location and was housed in what appeared to be a lovely old building. It's not often I go for former Premier Lodge hotels. The hotel was easy to find and we were given a massive room with a view looking onto the Tyne and bridge which I had requested by Email. The hotel had Emailed me to say there was building works going on and the building would be covered in scaffolding however there was nothing of the kind here! The building has a beautiful staircase with tiles and stained glass windows, just a pity the cornicing is hidden by fake ceilings and i imagine the interiors were once lined with wooden panelling. Noise was an issue and that wasn't just from the heater in the room which would start shaking and squeaking ever few minutes which wasn't great for sleeping next to. Also on Saturday morning somebody kindly set off fireworks right outside the hotel! Staff were very friendly and quite plentiful I will chose this hotel again next time I visit Newcastle.

The location is excellent for nightlife etc, but that's as good as it gets. Our room was damp and smelt upon entry. We opened windows to get some fresh air in. The worst thing was the mattress heavily stained and frankly only fit for the skip. I took some photos shown below make your own mind up. We complained and it was inferred you have a mattress protector and sheet on and it's only water stains. They couldn't change mattress. The company makes a selling point of the mattress giving you a good night's sleep, not being a health hazard. Can't believe staff who make beds daily think this is acceptable for paying guests to sleep on this and not report it. We won't be back

Excellent mattress. Good location. Safe hotel, with night front desk cover. Hotel adjacent to River Tyne. Clean, quiet and good walking distance to shops/clubs. Service good. Room needs updating. Windows wouldn’t hold open and no iron as stated in the advert. Dinner was good value in package. However, I did upgrade the wine /main course to Steak. The Breakfast was not warm enough and continental not seen ie no cheese or ham. Apart from that it would be 4 stars. I would stay there again as location/mattress/service good and we could afford.

Disgusting room stinks of off food, mould on the ceiling, stains on all the furniture. They had rude inconsiderate staff, especially receptionist David. Was a terrible experience. Will never be coming back. Would not recommend and will never be returning.

Great location on the Quayside and handy for Newcastle city centre and just a walk over the Swing Bridge to Gateshead. Check-in staff were very friendly and welcoming. I didn’t eat at the hotel as already had other plans with friends on the Quayside - plenty of restaurants to choose from. Bed was comfortable and room was clean but dated. No power sockets near bed and main light wasn’t working so room was dark. Shower pressure and temperature was a bit variable but worked ok in the end. There was a hole in the carpet which looked scruffy. Windows are filthy - couldn’t even see the Tyne Bridge which is right outside the window! Worst aspect for me was being woken up numerous times during the night by doors slamming as guests arrived or departed. Soft-close doors are really needed. In summary, good location, friendly staff but rooms and plumbing need to be updated.

Stayed in this Premier Inn over a weekend for an event in the Utilita Arena. Hotel itself is in a really good location with an easy walk for various points of interest. Didn't have any issues with parking, all nice and easy. Staff were lovely and breakfast was great however slightly disappointed with the condition of the room and the bed. Everything looking a bit tired (bathroom especially) and the bed was not comfortable like every other premier inn I've stayed at previously. I didn't tell staff on reception at the time, but I did contact them later that day after check out. Unfortunately nothing they could do as I should have reported it to them in person so fair enough but they were apologetic & did mention they were due the silent night mattresses soon so I can only assume that the current mattresses are quite old! No issue with noise in the early hours from party goers & super easy walk to the Utilita Arena.

Hotel was clean and convenient. Unfortunately the shower temperature was all over the place and the water when boiled in the kettle was foul smelling and cloudy. Service could have been better in the attached restaurant/bar. After waiting 10 minutes to be served I decided to spend my money next door.

I had Room 410 on the top floor. Dreadful. The room is like a long dark corridor. It's dark in the room no matter if you turn the lights on. The floor in the bathroom is a disgrace - it clearly has substantial issues and is bouncy - I tripped on it once. Impossible to get cold water from the taps. Why? Looking out of the window is depressing as it shows the clear lack of long term investment this building has had. But the staff are friendly and I didn't want to "have a go at them" as they clearly hear it all the time. Sadly I will not be returning to this Premier Inn. The breakfast was nice if you're willing to wait 5 mins for the toaster to work.

All the staff were lovely, hardworking and committed to giving a good level service. Good location generous breakfast. What let’s this hotel down is the condition of the rooms. I was only staying one night on my own. Any other time I would have asked for a change of room. The room was tired, I have posted some photos of the bathroom. The bathroom had an old towel rail that had been disconnected from the power supply and left. The plastic wall fittings on it were yellow with age. That is an easy fix, remove it. It is a terrible look. The grout was stained black in places! The room heating did not work, 3 portable heaters in the room showed that this is an ongoing problem. One of the lights did not work. This room needs a deep clean in the bathroom and for maintenance to replace a bulb. Just because you pay for a basic room does not mean that management on a national level allows such poor accommodation to be sold to customers. I don’t blame the cleaners or the front of house staff. It is the guys taking the big bucks at head office cutting corners to maximise profits. It does not work, I would not return to this Premier Inn.
