Friendly receptionist, helpful staff. Provide flexible solutions for heavy baggage. Extra waiting room for check out.

It's located near uptown, so it's a bit far from downtown. You have to use the nearby subway to get there. If you visit late in the day, you will need to do self-check-in, but it is a good idea to know how to do this.

Let me start with the hotel itself: the rooms are small, but neat and clean and the hotel is great for a (short) city trip in New York. The people at the reception are very friendly and it is possible to leave your luggage. The beds are nice, but small. I'm only 1.75 tall and the bed was too short for me. Keep in mind that there is little to no space to store your belongings/suitcases in the room because it is small. Please also note that there is no elevator and that you have to go up/down high, narrow stairs with your suitcases. Finally, the hotel is very very noisy: when the neighbors talk at a normal volume, you can literally hear what they are saying. In addition, a train passes by the hotel which you can hear very well. If you sleep with earplugs you will not have any problems with this. Considering the price of the hotel, I think this is a fine hotel for New York! So I would recommend it, but keep the above things in mind! THE NEIGHBOURHOOD The biggest disadvantage of the hotel was the location. Of course, the hotel can't do anything about this, but it really did affect our experience, so that’s why I want to mention it. The street of the hotel is neat, but as soon as you walk further into the neighborhood to go to the metro you don't feel safe. The neighborhood and the restaurants on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard are dirty and impoverished. Many junkies hang around the entire neighborhood and the metro stations, shouting a lot and exhibiting scary behavior. As a result, it often does not feel safe to be here and we often did not feel comfortable (also in restaurants). My tip is to only take the nearest subway at 125th Lexington (green line) and not to hang around in the neighborhood and not to respond to the junkies. When you do this, it's okay for the price you pay... If you want a little more comfort and a quiet, safe neighborhood or if you are traveling as a woman, I advise you to pay more and stay in a different neighborhood.

The hotel is clean and the staff friendly but the area is not great and the walk to the subway is scary to say the least. It is really easy to get Ubers in and out of New York City but then it it is probably then to pay extra to be nearer. Wall’s are super thin and the overhead subway and sirens keep you awake till the early hours.

The room I stayed in was at basement level, the walls are paper thin. You could hear everyone else's conversations in the rooms surrounding. The room/bed was tidy no issues there. The area was really scary, I went to the shop just down the road and people were shouting at me as a solo female - I felt very watched. After this I couldn't even face getting the subway and had to get taxis everywhere. I didn't feel safe at all.

I was in NY to visit my daughter at her college. I was pleased to find a hotel room close enough to avoid wasting time in commute. I arrived to check in about 4:30pm and was immediately met with a front desk worker who was irritated, flustered and behaving unprofessionally. Apparently there were issues with the washer/ dryer that caused it to take longer than usual to to clean and prepare rooms. I had to sit in the small lobby to wait for my room to be ready. Eventually I had to go into the room while she finished cleaning around me. Didn't get into the room until after 6pm. However, the young lady cleaning the room was friendly and it was clear she was trying to make the best of a bad situation. The worst part of my stay was yesterday to come. That night the air conditioner broke and blew either no air or hot air. I emailed the manager repeatedly and then she just stopped responding. It was so miserably hot in that room, that I barely slept! I spoke to the front desk at check out, she empathized and even said that this problem had been happening before. Why would you rent the room if you knew the AC wasn't working? Never heard anything back from management. Towels and washcloths were horrible. Felt like a rag to use for cleaning. I was happy to find this place but their poor customer service turned me off! I would find somewhere else to stay!
