The hotel itself is decent but the neighborhood is really bad. I’ve seen a lot of places in my life. It’s by far the worst neighborhood I’ve even seen. Been yelled at by many to what appeared to be homeless across the hotel, urine and marihuana smell everywhere… We were supposed to stay for 4 days but left after 2 since we weren’t enjoying our vacation because of all this, couldn’t go out after dark and I’m a 6ft/200 pounds male but couldn’t trust the surrounding with my wife… Oh and we requested extra pillows during our stay and the employee knocked at our door 25 minutes after we called but clearly he came back from smoking ****, as soon as we opened the door, a cloud of **** smell entered our room and our pillows had a strong smell of ****… At the end of the day, it is a decent hotel in NYC for the price but we decided to book out before end of our stay as we wanted to enjoy our stay and not have to be stressed out to come back at the hotel after dark and again, I come from a large city myself and saw lots of places in my life but this is by far the worst neighborhood I’ve seen. The picture of the hotel on Expedia doesn’t reflect the actual state of the front entrance of the hotel with garbage everywhere, smell of urine and sketchy individuals nearby starting at you… You will stick out as tourist when you exit the hotel I can tell you. Oh and they say free WiFi and free continental breakfast but they actually charge you $15 US per day when you check in on top of what you paid with Expedia/ Booking.com for the actual wifi and breakfast so it’s not free, you pay for it and it a cold breakfast so toast/ cereals/ bagels etc.

I was in NY to visit my daughter at her college. I was pleased to find a hotel room close enough to avoid wasting time in commute. I arrived to check in about 4:30pm and was immediately met with a front desk worker who was irritated, flustered and behaving unprofessionally. Apparently there were issues with the washer/ dryer that caused it to take longer than usual to to clean and prepare rooms. I had to sit in the small lobby to wait for my room to be ready. Eventually I had to go into the room while she finished cleaning around me. Didn't get into the room until after 6pm. However, the young lady cleaning the room was friendly and it was clear she was trying to make the best of a bad situation. The worst part of my stay was yesterday to come. That night the air conditioner broke and blew either no air or hot air. I emailed the manager repeatedly and then she just stopped responding. It was so miserably hot in that room, that I barely slept! I spoke to the front desk at check out, she empathized and even said that this problem had been happening before. Why would you rent the room if you knew the AC wasn't working? Never heard anything back from management. Towels and washcloths were horrible. Felt like a rag to use for cleaning. I was happy to find this place but their poor customer service turned me off! I would find somewhere else to stay!

Me and Harlem go way back. Aloft Harlem used to be my go to hotel before I started staying more on the lower east side. In fact, a Marriott employee who used to work at Aloft directed me to this brand new, just opened hotel. I was excited to return to uptown and stay in this spot! I wanted to love this hotel. I don’t like giving lackluster reviews and feeling like a Karen. But over two nights, the transgressions just piled up. I’m a Marriott ambassador who stays in hotels about 240 nights a year. I never bring up my status. This might be the first time I actually uttered in frustration, “it’s September and I’ve already spent 27,000 dollars at these hotels, why is this so hard?” Upon checkin, it took almost an hour. This is even more frustrating because my first night was business and my company always sends a spending authorization. Two days in a row I checked with the hotel to see if they had received the authorization. They lost the first one. They mismanaged the second one. I always call or chat ahead to ensure a smooth checkin. It was still a mess when I arrived. The room was a “Central Park view.” I should have known better; I don’t know why I believed this title. I know New York geography better than that. I was looking into a building. Central Park facing or in the direction of Central Park shouldn’t be called central park view. I had changed from the city view to the Central Park view before arrival and I guess I’m glad I did because while they were trying to figure out my reservation they mentioned they had oversold the city view rooms. I will say the black out shades do a great job. The bed was fine. Sheets were a little co****. This hotel costs close to what a Moxy costs, so their sheets should be comparably smooth and comfortable. The bathroom was an absolute joke. Maybe not all the rooms are like mine, but mine may as well not have had a door. As you can see in my photos, the door is for “art.” There is a huge gap where you can see everything! Like probably 12 inches or greater of a gap! Who designed this and thought it was a great idea?! Glad I was alone. The air unit is SUPER loud. Doesn’t bother me as much since we usually have a fan on at home, but it was so loud that when it came on, I had to turn the TV up. It will likely bother some people. And you can hear everything through the walls. Oh, and the toilet clogged twice. And one of the days, the hot water was off all day for repairs, though that’s out of anyone’s control. It’s just giving context to a very un-relaxing stay. Back to the front desk mess—I later noted a destination fee on my bill (I had two separate bills because one night was business and one was personal). I don’t mind destination fees—I’ve had them at many Marriott properties. But I was never informed of this one. I even asked at the restaurant, and they had no idea. I finally went to the desk and asked and they explained I should have been given vouchers for each ni

Love this hotel, small and cozy and pretty. the front desk is very helpful and polite. they gave us senior discount and we travelled from Canada. its served the purpose well, the United Palace theatre is just 10 min walking distance. The only issue is the water leaks from the shower stall when we shower.. for (queen bed suite ) the reason is its narrow, which is understood for small suite. I would give 5 stars in spite of it. The hotel staff comes and cleans it right away, as we did not expect it. they were willing to provide the needed things. Book it with confidence. So, pretty, and clean. Trust there are no MICE, because in the street outside there are plenty, looks like they keep it out of mice.

The hotel is new, everything is convenient. Good mattresses.
The continental breakfasts are excellent, it’s a pity that you had to pay for them separately. Overall the hotel is good. Only in the morning the rooms facing the road are very noisy. As far as I'm familiar with the city, this is a problem with all city hotels in New York.

I chose the Kama Central Park because I wanted to spend 10 days in NYC by myself and was unwilling to spend $200+ per night at a typical hotel or AirBnB. . . . . . The location is amazing. It is about a 3-minute walk to the B/C trains at 103rd or 110th St. There are lots of bodegas, restaurants, and services (nail salons, laundromats) within a short walk (Columbus Ave, Amsterdam Ave). There is a Lidl grocery store just up the street at Frederick Douglass Ave near 118th/119th. This is walkable, but you could also take the train two stops if you are carrying a lot of groceries. The Lidl has everything I needed: Yogurt, fruit, chocolate, take-away meals like salads with chicken strips. Even a decent and comfortable pair of black trousers for $15 when I ran out of clean clothes, lol. . . . . . I stayed in a 6-bed female-only room. I appreciated the privacy of my own capsule --- being able to climb into bed and close the door and not have to interact with other people. I also appreciated the common area, where I kept some food in the communal fridge and ate breakfast and a late supper (takeaway from Lild or nearby restaurants) most days. . . . . . I had pleasant interactions with travelers from all over the world. I will mention that I am 55 years old and I met many young people of typical ”hosteling” age, but also people my age and older. . . . . . The en-suite bathroom attached to my bedroom was always clean. In the hall --- open to all residents, not just my 6-person room --- there were a shower room (3 showers) and a toilet room (2 toilets and a sink). For early morning showers, I used these hall facilities rather than my room's en-suite so as not to wake my room-mates. These hall facilities were not as clean as the en-suite, but they were not frighteningly dirty. . . . . . Each bed was assigned a small locker in the bedroom; I left my valuables in it during the day (mainly a laptop). My small suitcase did not fit inside the locker, so I left it sitting outside the locker. I was a bit anxious about that for two reasons. First, I was slightly worried that someone would steal the suitcase (even though it was empty). Second, I was worried that my room-mates might be irritated that my suitcase was sitting there, possibly in their way, and not stowed somewhere. The latch on my locker did not work very well. It was very difficult to make it latch properly. I had to buy a lock. The website said I could buy or borrow a lock from the front desk, but they did not actually have one, so I had to go out and buy one at a CVS for $5. This was not a problem, but I was a little concerned about leaving my belongings unlocked for the first few hours until I purchased the lock. But nothing was stolen. . . . . . One thing about the room was irritating to me --- because my bunk was on top, I had no place to spread out and organize my belongings when packing my day bag each day. This might sound odd, but it was hard for me to *think* about my needs each day and pack ap

My husband and I have been staying at this hotel for several days. We would like to give five gold stars to Mr. Willie Howard at the front desk for always going beyond the call of duty and providing outstanding customer service for us. Every time we come down to the lobby Willie always greet us with kindness. No matter how busy he is, he always makes time to talk to us. My husband is very ill with stage four Cancer. Willie always knows what to say to motivate him and also encourages him to exercise. Also there are many times he has jokes for us. We always go back to our room laughing. Willie Howard is a major asset to all guests at this hotel. Please tell him we wish him continued success. In addition we will also share our experience with our friends and family. Kind regards, Mr. & Mrs. Rodriguez

A hidden gem on the Upper East side! Very friendly & welcoming staff, charming updated rooms and awesome location near Central Park & Met. We loved being on a relatively quiet residential street. We had read reviews about the rooms being small and they are quite small but we were able to make our bags/luggage work. The good news is if you are doing a trip to NYC right, you aren’t in your room except to sleep at night! We were gone all day most days walking around the city. The rooms have been very nicely updated with great finishes while keeping the old history. charm. The beds are very comfortable too. We stayed 5 nights & enjoyed our stay at this hotel immensely! We hated to leave but are looking forward to our next visit at the Frankin! Tips: 1) pack on the light side- there is ample space for hanging clothes but avoid large suitcases if you can as floor space is limited. 2) if you drive a large oversized vehicle, be aware that the adjacent parking garage might not be able to accommodate. We drove our Dodge Ram truck and it was too long for their elevator so we had to park about 1 1/2 blocks away (but that garage was very accommodating .) Otherwise, the adjacent garage is super nice and really convenient! 3) make sure to enjoy a breakfast/lunch at the Bocado Cafe on the corner of Lexington and 87th. Delicious food and great service. We ate 2 lunches there and were very pleased- super convenient too! 4) Starbucks and Whole Foods are just down the street as well The hotel staff was FABULOUS! We were greeted so warmly at check in and treated to delicious cookies & water bottles. The staff goes out of their way to treat you like family during your stay and were so accommodating to our every need. Can’t say enough good things about our stay. It’s a unique property with so many positives! We will definitely be lifelong Franklin Hotel patrons bc we love this part of the city and the charm of this wonderful property!

Outstanding
GGaryNYHKThe hotel is located in the second last stop in the southwest tip of Brooklyn, so it is far away from downtown Brooklyn and Manhattan. It’s certainly not a neighbourhood hotel, but one for international travellers mostly, given the quality of the international brand Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG). It’s worth staying if one can get a good deal/price. Otherwise, one should simply choose the similar IHG hotel in Manhattan…
KKitrynThis hotel is immaculate and absolutely everybody is above and beyond pleasant. Though not directly affiliated with the hotel, Inexpensive, super clean and very easily accessible parking is a two minute walk away at 25 Kent St. We paid $64 for 2 1/2 days of parking. The room was incredible. Exposed brick walls with super high ceilings, the bathroom had a huge tub and a wonderful shower. Pro tip: if traveling with someone that you do not want to see you naked, understand that it is not a one-way mirror over the bar and you absolutely CAN see into the shower While someone is showering. Luckily I was with my daughter, so this was not a real issue. The restaurant within the hotel and the Ramen place directly next-door are both wonderful. I did not make it to the rooftop bar this time but since I absolutely will stay at this hotel every time I come to visit I will check it out next time! The room was extremely quiet, temperature was easy to control. Now, a little too much honesty, I am an extremely “sensitive” person, and resting and hearing so much from the second I stepped into this hotel. I was never scared, as I definitely don’t typically get scared, but I had numerous very genuine and very obvious things happen while I say that this hotel, such as seeing things walk across the hall in both my room and the hallway, in the main lobby bathroom someone walked into the bathroom and into the stall next to me, but never left, and when I looked, there was no one there, and I was in the shower. I could hear several men talking to each other as if they were right next to me. I was definitely not hearing people from another room. I also heard the door to the stair well open, which is right next to our room and I was right next to the door so when I looked, there was nobody there and I pulled it shut again. Just out of curiosity, as to what was there prior to the hotel, on the way home my daughter looked up the history to the hotel. Let’s just say it was very enlightening as to why i was experiencing so much activity in this hotel, especially on the third floor next to what I will assume would have been a fire escape at some point. It also may explain why the first thing that went through my mind when I opened the front door of the hotel and turned to my daughter and said “I’m surprised the hotel gets away with door opening inward. It goes against fire code. Anyway, You can look up the history yourself and understand all that I have said. :-) either way, a spectacular hotel at a decent price and a very safe and beautiful part of the city. I will definitely stay here again!
GGuest UserWe always stay at Marriott, although I rarely use my Bonvoy membership. I always book our hotel through trip.com. The fridge had a bottle of Coke that had been drank by the previous guest. The hair dryer bag is dusty.
Everything else looks good. They provide free water during check-in and a raincoat in case of rain.
The breakfast seems decent for the price.
BBINBINExcept for an extra charge of $ 49 per person per day of the resort fee, this is not acceptable, and I hope to cancel it.
Good location, same building with park central. Manhattan club
Newly renovated, but the toilet and bathroom in the room are too small, only half the size of the Manhattan club
Breakfast was generous and dinner was negligible,
Opposite diagonally is Carnegie Hall, the subway station is right out, walk 10 minutes to times square 5 minutes to central park
15 minutes by subway to Wall Street,
If you can cancel the resort fee. I will book this hotel every time I go
Otherwise, I would still choose Manhattan club
帅帅哥NomadLocation is good if you want to stay close to Times Square. Their fridge was not working but they immediately send one when I complained. Elevator is okay, doesn’t bounce.
MmelI really like the Sheraton Hotel, this place is really very satisfying, highly recommend for a relaxing holiday, the service is quite good and friendly and very clean, and complete equipment will not disappoint
GGuest UserLocation was superb, next to the main subway station. The concierge staff was very friendly. They need to check that you're a guest before you can walk in to the hotel - this is probably because their lift does not enable guest only access to each floor - you do not need a card to go up to any floor. They charge a $39.99 destination fee and give you a $15 market value to buy food everyday.. (500ml water for $7.5, plain bagel for $5, ham and cheese bagel for $18...) They charge $4/bag for baggage storage after you check out.. Other than these 'small' charges, everything else is good.
MMisti WallerWe get there at 10:00am - We knew we couldnt check in but asked anyway. Lady on Thurs 9/28 told me we couldnt yet and gave us bag tags to hold our bags for us. Very nice and pleasant. We then return to the hotel at 9pm to finally check in. We had a great day seeing the city. We are then told that the room I booked was over sold and they can not provide me with a King that I purchased but a double. This was the manager - She discounted the bill and $54 and told me they would make sure we were accommodated tomorrow. The room we were put it was the size of a walk in closet with a bed with a window unit that water dropped on all night making a loud noise with every drop. It also had a broken shelf above the sink so you literally had no where to put anything. It was horrible and honestly a $54 discount was not nearly enough.
Friday at 9am we come down turn in the room keys and explain to yet a third person....she understands and says I see notes here and we have a king room for you. I asked if we could go ahead and get the room number but she said no not yet we have to wait for the people to check out. We check our bags with tags and leave them at the desk again. We then spend another wonderful day exploring the city. We return around 9pm again and another person is working and has absolutely no idea of anything that was supposed to be done for us. I asked for any other room then the one we were in first and they had a queen room available. I took it after being so tired. The lady gave me the managers email and said he would speak to her for us. I will be reaching out but now that we checked out sat morning I dont believe we will be compensated for this terrible lack of communication. We never even got to unpack our bags.
GGuest UserThe West Side YMCA is definitely a no frills place to stay, but the location is excellent. You're right next to Central Park and Columbus Circle. Times Square is an easy walk south. We stayed in 2 different rooms. The first had a bunk bed and was quite small, but the bed was comfy and the room was clean. It also had a small TV and fridge. We had a semi-private bathroom, which was down the hall. This meant we had to scan our key on one of the bathroom doors to get in, but once inside we had privacy while we got cleaned up. The bathrooms were kept clean and tidy. We were able to upgrade the second half of our stay to a room with a larger bed and an in room bathroom. Again, this hotel is no frills. It can be rough around the edges, but it's clean and comfortable at the end of a long day of sightseeing. We did not have time to take advantage of the gym, the pool, the sauna, and stuff like that, but they looked nice. I'd recommend the West Side YMCA. If you're visiting NYC, you should be out doing stuff, not sitting around the room. It was everything we needed it to be.
AAshley NicoleThe hotel is in an excellent location. It’s very easy to get around by walking or hopping on the metro. The hotel staff were very kind and helpful, but the hotel itself is in need of renovations (as other reviews have stated). If the hotel were to make those renovations I would stay again.
