I give my Beaches Negril vacation 3 out of 5 stars. This was my 4th Sandals/beaches location and unfortunately, the experience was not a 5 star. Prior to this we stayed at Beaches Turks and Caicos, Beaches Ocho Rios and Sandals Granfe St. Lucian. We typically reserve a new trip while onsite but didn’t this time because of the experience. The Good: We reserved a tropical 1 bedroom grand concierge family suite - 1BG. We were assigned to the Santa Cruz building. We loved the location and the view from our room. The room was clean and well appointed. Our housekeeper, Shoshauna, ensured we had all we needed in our room. The entertainment staff was amazing. Delly, Nae Nae, Miguel and the entire entertainment staff worked tirelessly to ensure that the guests are enjoying themselves. We rented a cabana and June was an excellent cabana butler. Every staff member we encountered was helpful. The staff gets 5 out of 5 stars. The Bad: The food overall was mediocre and the temperature of the food was inconsistent. The food did not have much flavor, especially the Jamaican food which did not taste authentic. In addition, the restaurants were out of menu items on numerous occasions. Compounding the missing menu items, the buffet staff did not adequately prepare for the number of guests visiting the buffet. Many times they ran out of a dish, well before closing time and did not replenish it. In one such occasion they ran out of pancakes at breakfast. A number of guests approached the staff to request a refill of the pancake. The staff brought out 5 more pancakes. Because I happen to be standing nearby on the egg line I saw the pancakes and was able to get 2. Another patron took the other 3 and there was none remaining for the other guests. The limited amount of food made for a frustrating dining experience, especially with dietary restrictions and picky children. We also experienced an unfortunate event that should not have occurred in any dining establishment. On our last night we were scheduled to eat at Kimonos. We were actually looking forward to it. However, while seated and placing our appetizer order, a roach crawled across the table. The waitress noticing it, quickly grabbed my son’s napkins and killed it, wrapping it in the napkin. She apologized and proceeded to take our drink orders. I was concerned about remaining in the restaurant and was discussing it with my family. Before the waitress could return, another roach crawled onto my leg. At this point we decided to leave. We notified the maitre d and he apologized and offered to move us to another table. We declined, choosing to leave the restaurant instead and he wrote down our room number. I don’t think he told anyone in management as no one contacted us regarding the incident. I sent an email to the general management once we returned home in the hopes the issue will be corrected before it impacts another guest. No one has acknowledged receipt of our email so I’m not sure if the issue has be
