Hotel Voltaire Opera Nantes Centre

Very good location within the centre of the city , lovely clean rooms with good facilities and good breakfast, my only negative would be in relation to the amount of available storage for clothes, minimal hanging space and no drawers I would imagine it’s set for short / business stays

My wife, Sarah, & I stayed here for 7 nights in September in order to visit family, the city of Nantes and the surrounding area. This lovely family run hotel, with a 24-hour reception and a guest sitting-room, is ideally situated in the city centre, near to a tram stop and all major attractions. Our en-suite bedroom was spacious and extremely comfortable. Every one of the staff was delightful, very friendly, efficient and nothing was too much trouble. They gave us much useful information about the city, over and above what one might reasonably expect. The breakfast was superb and had many locally sourced options. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and strongly recommend this hotel. NB We had booked direct by phone and the receptionist was immediately very helpful and spoke excellent English.

The Hotel Voltaire Opera is a lovely property located an easy walk from Les Machines de l'isle and close to plenty of shops, restaurants, and city sights. The staff is stellar, ready with maps, information, and support for whatever you may need. The breakfast includes local specialities and you will get tips on how to enjoy them best (the brioche made with local cream and butter is best devoured toasted and spread with some of that local jam. So delicious.) We had a "comfort level" room and it was very small, like you-can't-both-open-your-suitcases-at-the-same-time small. If you need more space, go up a notch. Our tiny room was very comfortable, and there is a pleasant lounge where you can sit and have a glass of wine and look at their regional-focused library if you feel the need to stretch out. Nantes is a wonderful place to visit and this hotel is a great choice. I would definitely stay here again but would opt to pay for a larger room.

The Hotel is well placed in a quiet street very close to Place Graslin. The staff are excellent and the breakfast is good with a plentiful supply of quality food including some local produce. Our biggest complaint was that having paid for a premium room there were some issues which made it less than comfortable. Room 226 has a separate toilet to the bathroom with no wash basin so that you have to walk across the room to wash your hands. It also meant that the toilet was a small cupboard. The room was a good size but only had one chair and the biggest inconvenience was that there were no bedside cabinets or even a shelve. In fact storage space was very limited the wardrobe was an open hanging rail. I raised this with reception to be told that was what was provided. It was not until a couple of days later when all the rooms were being cleaned (and doors were left open) that we noted every room had bedside cupboards or shelves and that most had a wardrobe with a door. I am sure that this could be put right in a premium room but it did become an annoyance especially as we both wera glasses and it is very useful to be able to put them close at hand when you go to sleep.
