I usually only write reviews if the place was amazing or horrible. The First Colony was neither, but I felt the negitives were worth a review... Pros: beautiful property, beach chairs you can use, nice pool, historicly cute, nice social hour with snacks and wine, above average breakfast and nice location. Cons: rude staff, moldly tub/shower, room was not cleaned very well (tons of dust, dead bugs in windows), check-in only from 4-5 and they close up at 5, 1 tiny, tiny shampoo and bar of soap and never replenished, they issue you a 30 minute window for breakfast and seem very flustered about it, have a library for use but rush you out and lock it up at 5 on the dot (my daughter was remotely working in there and could hear the staff talking negitively about guests all day long), porch swings on rusty chains that seem like they haven't been changed in 15 years..could break at any moment. I would not ever stay there again. It was quite expensive in season.
