The Richmond Hotel is great!
It is located not far from the west exit, turn right and walk away.
The lobby is quite spacious, the front desk service is good, and there is free luggage storage. The breakfast buffet restaurant is on the first floor, which is quite rich. Starting at 2 pm, the restaurant provides free drinks, which is perfect for drinking tea and chatting.

this hotel is a good place ti stay for budget travellers.
its very affordable. we booked a week before our intended travel yet we still got a good rate.
they have free drinks for guests until 10pm.
they have free toiletries such as toothbrush etc and they have drip coffee too!
receptionist is english speaking.
they have self check in / check out which saves time.
the room is not too big but comfortable and clean.
its not very near the nagoya station but closer to kamejima. there is a convenience store nearby.

It's not as close to the subway station as expected, it takes about 5-10 minutes to walk. But the breakfast is very good, including eel rice! And the rooms are relatively new and more spacious than other Japanese hotels.
