The hotel was nice and well situated, in the centre of Mutsamudu, close to the inter-island airport, and just next to one of the few restaurants in town offering a fresh beer at the end of the day. It is also sadly just in front of a beach covered in littering. However the owner is working really hard on a daily basis in order to find a solution, herself part of an organisation fighting for an effective recycling system! She is also carrying out clean up missions, which I believe will achieve good results over time! There are also cleaned beaches not far away, maybe ask the owner for names and advice? The room was clean, and bedsheets changed daily!! With air conditioning, when power allows it (it's Africa babe!!). In case the wifi runs out, it is easy to ask the owner to recharge the SIM card inside the router. Concerning breakfast, we had bread, jam, eggs, yummy fresh fruits and juices, we couldn't have dreamt better, and they adapted to my diet nicely. All the staff were absolutely the cutest and really trying to be helpful, as well as ready to have a chat, or share some nice local tips. The owner even let us back to our old room for an extra night due to our flight being cancelled, and housed friends, who also were supposed to be on the flight. The next morning, the husband of the owner came helping us find a taxi at 6am for us to catch the next flight. PS: While most people speak french, very few do english. Also, if you’re planning a trip on the island without having a local friend close by, I would really recommend getting a guide or finding someone that can show you around a bit. I would say that the island can be a bit confusing for untrained eyes. Yet, it was so beautiful and authentic that I would recommend it without any hesitation!
