Hotel Schloss Wilkinghege

We booked two rooms in this lovely hotel. One was the suite and one was a single room. The rooms are very nice and the decor is historic. Unfortunately there was no bar, so we had our drinks in the foyer. As we had eaten before checking in, we wanted to order a bite to eat in the restaurant, as there was no other pleasant place to be. We found the restaurant a bit old-fashioned. The service was arrogant when I tried to politely explain that we had already eaten dinner and only wanted a bite to eat. The next morning, the young lady at reception told us very indiscreetly that we had only booked the suite for one person. We had to pay extra, even though *********** said double room! The lady at breakfast was rather pushy, just took plates away even though I hadn't finished. All in all, a lovely, historic hotel, but with incompetent receptionists and arrogant staff. The prices are simply outrageous! We will not book again.

After a business stay of several days in 2005, we finally booked the house for a private trip with arrival on October 3, 2022, the holiday. Münster was full of events on these days and the hotel still had some free space. We booked a suite. Unfortunately, our "expectations" were significantly disappointed because of the "heating maintenance" that took place on Monday (the holiday?). Instead of being in the main building, i.e. in the castle, we were moved to the "annex", i.e. the former stables and storage rooms. Some guests like this because they can also live here on the ground floor without having to climb stairs. We had a room on the 1st floor, which is accessible via a very narrow spiral staircase. After consulting another guest, the following room description applies to all rooms in the annex. We cannot judge a room in the main building. There are no curtains in front of the windows to create a homely atmosphere, but wooden sliding doors. There are no drawers anywhere and no safe. The shelves by the bed are very small. The TV in the living room is 36" and is parallel to the couch. There are no sockets on the desk. The cupboard, with door handles on the outside and inside, only opens on one side, the side with the compartments remains hidden behind the cupboard paneling, but there is no light in the cupboard either. The toilet in the bathroom does have an extractor, but it is inefficient. The technical quality of the kettle, desk lamp and radio alarm clock by the bed does not meet commercial regulations and even less the expectations of such a house. You have to put the water heater on the floor in order to reach a socket with the short cable. The mattresses are very good. The bathroom is clean, but there is not enough storage space at the sinks. The room colors and sizes as well as the large lattice windows make the room look stately and appropriate for a castle hotel. The restaurant has a very good reputation, but we did not have dinner there due to our disappointment. The breakfast room is in the basement of the main building, the buffet is fresh and delicious. The mostly young staff are friendly and helpful. Very good WiFi in room 42. We expressed our disappointment on site and were told that renovation work was in the works. Read the report as a personal experience, not as a generally valid assessment. "What is an owl to one person is a nightingale to another."

Very beautiful old building. We had a suite in the adjacent building, which was very stylishly furnished and really offered a lot of space. It was very quiet at night. We only occasionally heard the ducks and carp in the moat. The excellent service from extremely courteous, attentive and friendly staff deserves special mention. The golf course directly adjacent was also fantastic. We were very satisfied with the quality of the food on offer in the evening, although it was far too expensive. My tip: stay there, but eat in the golf club restaurant within walking distance.

Very good hotel located on the outskirts of the city of Münster. It is a Castle surrounded by water and a golf course. We had a very spacious suite, both the bedroom, the bathroom and the living room. Very good attention. Outdoor parking in front of the hotel.

The castle is outside of Münster, but still fairly quiet. A beautiful Westphalian moated castle with a moat and park. The room in the main building has historical charm. The food in the restaurant deserves full marks. Very good.
