"This is a century-old hotel with a real sense of history. Dinner and breakfast were decent, much like what you'd find at most onsen hotels, with the added local specialty of sea bream. "The hotel is located in a picturesque place. The staff is helpful and pleasant. There are no shops nearby, but we were warned about this. They met us at the station and took us to the station! We recommend it to everyone who also cares about aesthetic pleasure!"

"Location was convenient, very near the train/bus station. Concierge staff was able to converse in basic english which made it way easier for us and they were all very nice. The room was so spacious and the view from our room was amazing!!! It was actually peaceful to just sit and stare out of the window. The toilet was spacious enough too. We did not use the onsens avail in the hotel but they also had a family onsen room that was free for use for anyone as long as its available and it works just like a private onsen, but free! I absolutely loved our room and would definitely recommend & also hope to return someday 💕"

"I originally planned to leave a 5-star review because the hotel itself has a very nice, cozy atmosphere. However, I ended up extremely disappointed due to something being stolen during housekeeping service. I travel frequently and stay in hotels often, so I’m usually very careful. This time, I didn’t bring many valuables with me, so I didn’t lock my suitcase when I went out. I had bought a few items from a drugstore and left them in the room. When I came back, one of the three packages was missing. I assume they didn’t take everything to avoid suspicion. I’m usually very cautious about housekeeping and potential loss of belongings, which is why I selected the “do not disturb / no cleaning” option. However, this hotel requires daily cleaning of the in-room hot spring bath. Since I booked a top-floor room with a private onsen, the front desk informed me that staff would still enter the room to clean it. I never expected that even opened, low-value cosmetics would be taken. The missing items were worth over $60. While it’s not a huge amount, it still feels very upsetting. The hotel itself is fine, but please be very careful with your belongings if you stay here. If you leave the room, make sure to take your valuables with you. The safe in the room is extremely small and cannot hold much. Overall, this experience was very disappointing."

"I've always wanted to visit Izu, and after seeing recommendations online 🤔, I decided to check out this guesthouse. And it certainly didn't disappoint! 🫵 The owner is from Xi'an. After booking, you can message him on WeChat or email him to let him know your estimated arrival time in Izu. 👌 He'll personally pick you up from the station, and if you want to visit other attractions, he'll also drive you if he's available, saving you travel time. The guesthouse itself is beautiful 👏🏻, with a strong artistic vibe thanks to all the decorations. The proprietress is very talented 👍, and every corner of the room is stunningly decorated. I also have to praise the owner's cooking! 👍 If you're craving Xi'an specialties, you can ask the owner to cook for you. You can order à la carte or choose a guesthouse meal package (a heads-up: there are no restaurants or supermarkets nearby) 😜. We booked breakfast and dinner (for breakfast, you can choose between Chinese or Western) ☺, and the owner's noodles are absolutely amazing 😋. If you want to try Xi'an noodles, you can ask the owner to cook them for you (he mentioned they mostly serve noodles for lunch) 👌. I usually don't have much of an appetite for breakfast, so the owner specially made me a big bowl of Qishan Saozi noodles 🍜. Oh my god 😋, the sour and spicy flavors immediately opened up my appetite! Thank you to the incredible owner for saving my Chinese stomach! 🙏 Oh, and in the evenings, the owner will also take you to nearby hot springs ♨. If you want to experience authentic local hot springs, you should definitely try it! ♨ The owners are very easygoing, and after two days, it felt like we were old friends. I'm already looking forward to my next trip to Izu 🙂 and another taste of the owner's amazing Saozi noodles! 🍜"

"My first hotel in Japan, and I immediately noticed the distinct difference from hotels back home. The elderly gentleman at the front desk was warm, humble, and polite, and they also had brochures with information on Ito's attractions and transportation, available for guests to pick up. The room was very clean and just right for my friend and me. The hotel isn't far from Ito Station, making morning train transfers very convenient. We woke up to mountain views, and the hotel even has a 24-hour coin laundry facility. Overall, it was very convenient in every aspect. Our two-day experience on the Izu Peninsula was fantastic. If I ever revisit Izu, I would definitely consider staying here again."

"This ryokan is truly a gem. It offers complimentary car parking, and there’s also a public bathroom available. The staff are very nice and sweet, making the stay feel warm and welcoming. I highly recommend trying their breakfast and dinner—the meals are delicious and thoughtfully prepared. In the evening, guests can even enjoy complimentary ice cream, which is a lovely touch. Netflix is available for entertainment, and the facilities are very well maintained, giving excellent value for money. Overall, it’s a wonderful place to stay, and I will definitely go back again."

"Service: 1. The Japanese gentleman running the place is incredibly welcoming. Besides Japanese, he also speaks English and a little Chinese. 2. My Japanese is only N3 level, so the owner was very patient, speaking slowly to make sure I understood. 3. The hotel offers free pick-up and drop-off service from the station. Since there's only one convenience store and supermarket between Izu Kogen and Jōgasaki Coast, the owner also organizes trips for guests who need to buy daily necessities. 4. If you want to visit tourist spots, you can also tell the owner, and he'll help drive you if he's available. Environment: The room was very clean, and even on a cloudy day, there was no damp smell. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied."

"The Sakurazaka branch is nestled in the tranquil villa resort area of Izu Kogen, a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of city centers. It feels more like a place where you can temporarily step away from your daily routine. Mornings are greeted with the cool mountain air and birdsong, while afternoons bring sunlight filtering through the trees and a slow passage of time. In spring, you can watch cherry blossoms drift in the breeze, and in summer, listen to cicadas echoing along the forest paths. Scattered along the way are charming shops, cafes, and gardens with a distinct Showa-era charm, flanked by quietly growing flowers and trees. People come here not for the sake of 'checking off a list,' but to briefly step away from the city's pace, put down their phones and work, and let time slow down amidst hot springs, nature, and tranquility. The charm of Izu Kogen isn't in its grandeur, but in its preservation of a sense of life that is increasingly rare today. It's perfect for zoning out, taking a leisurely stroll, reading, or soaking in the hot springs, and also ideal for spending a few quiet days with someone special. This is my most genuine feeling."
