Atlas Suites and Apartments

Ignore the negative reviews, these apartments are not fancy but perfectly adequate. Excellent location ( 1 block from beach + 5 min stroll to cafes/shops in either direction). We were a sporting group of 11 and we shared 4 family apartments.

Disappointing, not clean, I see other reviews say the same thing, Toilet smelt of urine. See photo of bed, 3 of the 4 castors were missing so bed on a lean, hard to see how cleaners could not have picked this up, but when we lifted bed to look for missing castors so much dust under it. . The is how the bed actually looked not like the photo on the website. Very tired looking apartment, a lot of marks on the walls, we had 116. Position was great.

So disappointed with our recent stay, the room was well below par, the walls were filthy, there was a hole in the wall, mould in the bathroom and just felt really unclean. The beds were hard and the singles squeaky. The photos don’t show the extent of it unfortunately. I will never be returning, even cut our stay short so we didn’t have to have another night there.

We checked In.... and checked out 10 mins later. When we arrived, we were impressed with the location even though the exterior was looking a bit shabby. Checked in and went to our room..... It was disgusting. It was so so dirty, so run down, I felt like I was in a shelter. Appliances were dirty, air conditioner had not been wiped for years, couch dirty, walls dirty, hair all over the shower, bathroom and toilet floor, dried up wee on the toilet seat, the clothes horse/dryer was rusty and old (get them $15 at kmart), kettle dirty, nothing dusted, hairs in the twin beds, marks on the sheets, old tissues under the bed... And that was just the start of our issues. After feeling absolutely filthy even being in the room and having already paid our full week and a half of accommodation, we went to the reception desk and explained... showed photos etc and asked for a refund. Only to be told the manager is the only one to approve refund and manager is off until tomorrow. I asked her to call the manager and she said this couldn't be done. I continued to show the photos and explain how thats not acceptable, especially paying more than 200 a night. She eventually said she could refund 200 however management did not allow them to refund more than that without approval, so 200 of our 2000 dollars paid refunded and would chat to the manager in the AM. The next day came and they said there was nothing wrong with the room and can't give a refund. We were left in a foreign country $2000 out of pocket and no accommodation. I had to then email the management with photos and an explanation, also copied in tourism new zealand and consumer affairs/complaints for new zealand tourism. Only then did they agree to refund me some money. Super disappointed in management at this hotel. The receptionist was lovely and you could tell she wanted to help yet management obviously dont trust their staff enough to allow them to refund more than $200. Sad to see that. This reception wss pleasant and handled it as well as she could. This place needs a deep clean and somebody to take care/tidy it up a bit.

We had a 5-night stay here during the NZ vs England test match. The apartments are close to eating and drinking places, the beaches and Mount Maunganui. The sitting area, kitchen diner, bedroom and bathroom were all large and comfortable. We enjoyed eating outside on the balcony. It was a bonus having Sky TV, allowing us to watch English football live.

Musty smell when entering the room. Hair on bathroom floor. Had not been vacuumed or floors washed. Very dusty etc. friendly reception staff. We booked it for the good location but we’re very disappointed.

Great location and good secure parking. However the family apartment was average and not overly clean. Bathroom looked like it hadn’t been cleaned, toothpaste marks on taps and basin. Rooms were dusty and needed a good vacuum. Also noisy with apartments next door not having soundproofing. Great location but overpriced for what you get.

Old tired and dirty. Shower was mouldy which would be easy to clean. Used toothbrush and hair and thick dust under the bathroom vanity. Green slime in patio area. Cobwebs and dust. Skirting boards thick with dust. Check in was easy and the location is very handy.

For cost ($358pn), apartment was very substandard. Tired, scuffed old furniture, ring marks on arms of sofa and bedside tables. Kitchen very poorly equipped - two mismatched wine glasses both of which had dirty finger marks on. Other crockery not clean. No power socket or extension cord on left hand side of bed so bedside lamp and electric blanket not able to be used. When we pulled out bedside table, it obviously hadn't been vacuumed in a long time. Stale smell in main room and bathroom. Second "bedroom" was just an alcove. Bathroom shower moldy, seal hanging off and rusty basket so we opted not to use. All in all a very disappointing experience and would never stay there again.
