Comfortable, friendly and good value in the Cotswolds. A small inn with 5 modern rooms with all the amenities. As a bonus, this inn was visited by the author J.R.R.Tolkien and was an inspiration to his writings as stated on a plaque at the front door. Our room had very comfortable beds and lovely linens, modern bathroom with a walk in shower. The rooms are located in a quiet location right off the garden and not close to the pub section to give you a good night sleep. The town is a sleepy town so most of those coming to this pub are locals and come in for a pint or 2 and therefore I don't believe you would have worries of rowdy crowds to interrupt your sleep. The complimentary hot English breakfast they serve in the morning was so delicious and kept you going all day. Homemade jams and breads, yogurt, cereals, fresh fruit in addition to the hot breakfast items. We arrived on a Sunday and had reserved a table for Sunday roast. We had a lovely table set and ready for our arrival. The meal was so delicious and was huge! (We could have shared one). Highly recommend their roast. The owner, John, is very friendly, as are his staff. and it was a great place to end your day in the pub before settling down for the night in a beautiful room. I can highly recommend this inn, their staff and the location.
