First, Hilton-branded hotels are my chain of choice and I am also a Diamond Member and have been for years. We chose the Hampton Inn Downtown Montreal due to its location; close to Old Montreal, Chinatown, the shopping district, and restaurants. At check-in the customary ”thank you for being an Honors Member” was not mentioned though not a big deal! As a Diamond Member I asked about the comp upgrade if available. I was told by the agent at the front desk that there were no upgrades available and that I was in a room with a ”couch”! Not sure what the 1 ½ person couch would do but whatever. We arrived at our room, our small room. We were on a 7-day trip to cold climates with outdoor events therefore we had a lot of baggage - nowhere to put it all in the room. From the room, I dialed ”0” and asked if we could please be assigned another room. The person on the phone said ”yes, of course, we will put you in a suite!”. (See above, front desk agent, no suites available.) We arrived to a large suite with great amenities - full kitchen and appliances, corner room, lots of room, etc. The downside, the floors were a mess - I mentioned it but never heard back. We used a damp towel and cleaned the entire room ourselves. Oh, the towel, it wasn't healthy looking after that. The runner carpets at the bed were no better. I door parking was great BUT it's where all the ********* smokers gather though there's no indoor smoking in any of the building. BTW - note that ********* is TOTALLY legal in Canada so that was not the issue - smoking inside was the issue. So, great location, nice property, attention to detail and Hilton Honors members is very lacking and a front desk agent who got caught in a little lie!

I feel that the environment is pretty good and the room is quite clean and tidy. The small kitchen has basic kitchen utensils for cooking, and you have to prepare your own condiments. It is relatively quiet at night. It is very close to Chinatown. There are many restaurants nearby. For shopping, there are Chinese supermarkets and Wal-Mart. It is within walking distance to the underground city and Notre Dame Cathedral in the old town of Lao Port. It is very convenient! The only inconvenience is that there is no washing machine and dryer in the room

The hotel is in a great location, close to the subway station, Chinatown and City Hall. The front desk staff is friendly and the room is clean and quiet. The disadvantage is that the infrastructure is old and toothpaste, toothbrush and slippers are not provided. In short, the hotel is very cost-effective.

I'm a low maintenance traveller so my experience is probably going to be appreciated by people more like myself. The first thing I liked about this hotel was that it had a kitchen, which was great for eating leftovers or cooking cheap ramen. The second thing was the location was also great as it was walking distance to Saint Denis Street and St Catherine Street which comprises of many restaurants and bars. Both streets are also closed to vehicle traffic making them fully pedestrian-friendly. There's also grocery stores and banks. The hotel was also located perfectly next to a major subway station called Berri-UQAM where three lines converge, including the yellow line which goes directly to St. Helen's Island. The airport bus route 747 also stops at this major hub too which was perfect for me. The one con I did have was that the air conditioning is very loud. I personally don't use AC but my friend needed it, and it kept me up at night, so if you're the type of person that is a light sleeper that needs a colder room, bring ear plugs. It is an older hotel, but I honestly found it completely fine. I'm not sure if it's because I tend to seek lower-cost accommodations but this hotel didn't seem that old to me at all.

Great little place. Staff are excellent, helpful, kind, and also bilingual. The parking is underground and a decent continental breakfast is included. The rooms are a great size and include a kitchenette. My room had a balcony which was nice. The hotel is in a great location and easy to get to. There is 15 minute parking out front so you may unload your bags. The temperature runs a little warmer than I would like; however, in Canada, in the winter - I would rather be warm than cold! The rooms are clean and comfortable in addition to sizeable. I felt safe and secure travelling alone here and I always appreciate that. I would definitely come back!

The plane was late, the staff was late, and the staff had already got off work, but he had self-check-in and check-out at the front desk, which was very convenient, but because the check-in time was late, he needed to call the customer service to apply for the deposit deduction, because he would not speak English and French. Finally, the kind Trip.com customer service remotely helped to call and coordinate. The customer service was very active throughout the process. I also gave a cash roll. I was really careful. Thank you for the merchant. Thank you Trip.com customer service.

On September the 9th, 2022 we checked into your hotel, as part of a large group that reserved many rooms in your hotel for celebrating my son in law brother, Upon check in, ROOM 163, I was requested to provide my credit card info in order to access our reserved room. That is a normal procedure in many hotels, and I do respect it. However, I was immediately notified by VISA that an additional hold of $ 200 was applied. Requesting the front desk for clarification, I was told that it is a “security deposit”. For exactly what, I had no idea and the clerk could not explain. If it was for possible damages that may be my responsibility, than the hotel had to escort me to my room and verify with me that all is OK, before giving me access. If it is for after I check out, than no one came to check the room upon my departure. So what is the point? I was asked if I am an Aeroplan member. I provided the clerk with my membership number and was assured to earn the points. It’s been over 20 days, and no points have been credited. We have stayed for 3 consecutive nights. During the entire stay, we did not have our room cleaned even once. We had only one and a half rolls of toilet paper for 3 days. We had to buy papers at Walmart. We did not have our sheets changed. We did not get any soap and shampoo provided for 2 days. We had to buy supply at the nearby Walmart. We had to beg the cleaning girl in the hallway for more towels, as new fresh towels were not supplied. I personally complained to the front desk that our faucet is not working properly, it was seized. I was promised it would be rectified, but no one showed up. Our garbage was never emptied. I had to take it outside the room once a day. The ceiling fan in the bathroom is probably clogged, and humidity would stay in the bathroom for a long time. The carpets have not been vacuumed, and felt dusty. There were 8 large pillows, 4 on each bed. What’s the idea? One can use only 1 or 2, and the rest end up on the floor. Yes, 4 pillows have no use. The next gests get to use the same pillows which were on the floor. The mattresses are old and overused to a point that you simply sink into them. The elevators were dirty with leaves and debris on the floor for 3 days. The main entrance to the hotel lobby is so dirty, that one may think we are in a third world country. Tons of cigarette leftovers are pilling up just next to the main door, garbage begs and open garbage all over the garden beds for 3 days! And speaking on the hotel landscaping gardens, I must ask myself, why would the hotel spend so much money to install an irrigation system to automatically water all the ****S around the property? It is a disgusting view to see. Very flourishing ****s all over the property. The Kosher kitchen had no present of a Kosher supervisor showing during our 3 days stay. I have assembled a collection of photos to substantiate the above. To add salt to injury, most of our family members who stayed with us

To be fair to Marriott I have to mention that the first night we stayed a bus hit a high power electrical tower and took out the power in the section the hotel was situated. This happened at approx. 10:30pm. The hotel lost power immediately. We were without power or running water in the hotel till 5:00pm the following day. At no point during this time did the hotel staff offer any assistance. Since we were on vacation we made the best of it. Used our own bottled water to bath and clean up and did the tourist thing for the day. We returned at 5:00 pm as the power was returning, so we decided to stay the second night as planned. It was 25.5 degrees Celsius (77.9 Fahrenheit) in the room according to the thermostat. We gave it 2 hrs it never moved. As I was going down to the lobby to inquire about the room a/c I ran into a woman on my floor. She inquired if I was experiencing the elevated temperature in my room as she was. At the lobby I was joined by her husband. We were told it would take some time for the a/c to cool our rooms, yet both of us made mention on how the lobby was done right frigid. Obviously the hotel wanted to give guest checking in the illusion that everything was all right. The front desk attendant went into a back room which I find hard to believe would hold the controls for the ventilation system, handed us each a 7 in. fan and told us he had made adjustments and it should get better. He also explained how to set the thermostat to hold a lower temp. It was 28 degrees Celsius (82.4 Fahrenheit) in our room when we left the next morning. Upon check out in a still cold lobby I mentioned my disappointment with my room and was blown off by the front desk attendant. I was then charged full price for both days. Obviously the Marriott is more concerned about the bottom line then the comfort of their guest. I personally will never stay in another Marriott hotel ever again. There are too many other choices out there.

We stayed at the hotel October 14-15, 2023. The hotel experienced a power outage that resulted in us not having power for 13 of the 16 hours we were guests. The power went out at ~10pm when we were still awake, we woke up at midnight because our room was very warm due to the air condition being out as a result of the power still being out. When we spoke with the front desk staff, the staff member did not share our concern and said someone would be coming in the morning to deal with an electrical issue. We explained since the outage was localized to our side of the hotel on the first floor, we thought the problem was a breaker that literally just needed to be switched off and on again. We were told no staff member on site had a key to the breaker room, which is a concern in case of emergency. We felt like we were held hostage in our room because the staff member also told us that if we left the room locked (we'd propped the door open to go talk to them), we might not be able to get back in, since there's no manual way to open the door if the key pad is not working. We couldn't leave because we couldn't pack in the dark. We also couldn't do anything in our room due to the power outage and were unable to sleep because the room was so hot without A.C., we sat in the dark for hours. Finally, the breakfast at the hotel was awful. The dishes were dirty, the cream for the coffee expired and became all chunky when poured in, and my wife got sick from what she ate. When we explained the above at checkout, we were informed that the front desk staff couldn't do anything about the above issues and were unable to compensate us for the very poor experience. The staff took no initiative at all to try and contact a manager or come up with any solutions. When we asked to speak to a manager, they took our information and told us that management would reach out. No manger contacted us, despite our repeated attempts to contact them by phone and email. We reached out to both the Sales Manager (Sabra) and the General Manager (Lucie Bergeron) repeatedly, as well as the general email for the hotel and received no reply. Over two months later, through our persistence, we were put through to Sabra Rezigue who was quite rude and was in a hurry to get us off the phone. Sabra said that our multiple emails had ended up in her spam folder and she did not receive them (despite our cc'ing multiple emails at the hotel). She did not have any good explanation for staff that were successfully emailed not making any attempt to contact us back or forward our complaint to a manager. She attempted to blame Hydro Quebec for the power outage despite our explaining that the problem was only in our wing of the hotel and the rest of the hotel had power. Ultimately, Sabra told us that she had to deal with another client and cut the call short. We were not contacted by Sabra again despite her assurance that she would get back to us same day and were only compensated a refund of half t

Front on the highway side very noisy, at the rear probably less. Sheet metal bed base (don't hit it especially if someone is sleeping). Only one ice machine for the entire hotel. No milk or cream in the fridge for coffee. A few more small adjus**ents, new and clean hotel.

Outstanding
ZZhangWe had an outstanding stay at Sonder Apollon in Montreal. The location was perfect, situated in a vibrant neighborhood with easy access to public transportation, shops, and restaurants. The modern design of the apartment was both stylish and functional, providing a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing environment.
The space was impeccably clean and well-maintained, with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was fully equipped, even though we didn't have time to cook. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches such as high-quality linens and toiletries.
Check-in and check-out were seamless with Sonder’s efficient system, and the customer service was excellent. Whenever we had questions or needed assistance, the team was quick to respond and very helpful.
Overall, our experience at Sonder Apollon was fantastic. It felt like a home away from home, and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Montreal. We look forward to staying here again on our next trip to the city!
GGuest UserI love this hotel nestled in the heart of Old Montréal and Old Port. I had a great room with a wonderful corner view of Old Montréal, it’s rooftops, the Grande Roue and the little cafes and boutiques below. Room is very comfortable. I love the long modern working desk, the comfy lounge chair, plush bedding and above all the spa multi jet shower… Because of pandemic restrictions most of the amenities of the hotel were not accessible. The hotel has such a nice lounge and bar area but I couldn’t go there. The gym was also off limits. There is an outdoor courtyard that was advertised as open even in the winter with fire pits but it wasn’t accessible during my stay.
My only complaint would be that my room was drafty but I also stayed on one of the coldest weekends of the year and I could adjust the heat in the room. I asked for a throw blanket to cuddle in while reading in the lounge chair. They brought me the cuddliest faux fur blanket, I was almost thankful for the draft. Can’t wait for my next opportunity to stay here.
In my opinion, this hotel is more geared towards adults (solo/business/couples/adult getaways) rather than families with young children. It has a high-end, modern, chic vibe. However, I’m quite sure they would accommodate children too.
Photos don’t do the view justice. They were taken during a snow storm with poor visibility. Under normal conditions, was really nice and at night, so beautiful with all the lights and illuminated Grande Roue.
GGuest UserEverything was as expected to the friendly front desk staff, clean room, comfortable bed and awesome location. You can walk to the old port, downtown and abundant shopping malls from the hotel. We didn’t use our car so the $30/night fee seems expensive. All around great stay in an awesome city.
Booked in for 5 nights B and B only told at reception check in that breakfast service had been stopped and told there would be a refund of 11 dollars per person at check out. Rather disappointed with this as we picked the hotel because it served a breakfast. Not sure where you can find a breakfast for 11 dollars locally The hotel bar...no one mentioned it at check in...had reduced hours from 5 to 8 pm. Why?? The hotel uses the term downtown in its name. This I found misleading as it is some distance from the heart of old Montreal. The area the hotel is in is pretty run down with many individuals sleeping rough and a real feeling of destitution. One incident was particularly unpleasant. We purchased a bottle of wine and clarified with reception that it could be drunk in the lounge area...they even gave us cups to use. We had assumed there was no hotel bar. A manager later approached us to ask us rather brusquey to stop drinking. An unpleasant exchanged occurred and we left. Bad treatment for guests in a 4 star hotel. That aside the rooms bathrooms beds and pillows are v good as are reception staff. Rooms have no dressing gown or slippers...how do you get to the pool. Overall well not return. In my opinion it's a 3 star hotel in a poor location.
GGuest UserThe room was okay. It was very cold when I checked in. I thought there was no heating. When I opened the air conditioner vents, no hot air came out. The heater was next to the window sill. It took an hour or two to warm up. I booked the room through prepaid RMB through Ctrip. When I checked out, the front desk I was charged Canadian dollars again. If you don’t speak English well, you may not be able to explain clearly. Fortunately, the money was returned in the end. However, in the winter, there are green ducks and swimming pools outside the house, which is quite magical.
LlynnBreakfast is average, but it is still very convenient and cost-effective. The hotel is a few kilometers from the airport, you can see the plane taking off, the children like it. The hotel has a car park and there is also a free bus airport transfer.
GGuest UserThe hotel was very central to all the place we wanted to be. It seemed like a 20 min walk to everywhere. Chinatown, Old Montreal, Waterfront, St Catherine street to city centre and the other way to The Gay Village. There are a lot of people that hang around in the streets around the hotel but it seems to be a big issue in Montreal in general. We never felt unsafe but we are from Toronto. The room was very quiet, clean and comfortable. We stayed in a Panoramic rooms so we had a corner and a lounge. The rooms with just the beds are very small, it was nice having the extra space. They did not clean the rooms due to Covid which was fine but there is no where to dry a towel so we had to be creative. The bed was comfortable thought because it was not fully made up each day it got to be a bit of a mess and was harder to fix. The AC in the bedroom blows right on your head! The Lobby smelled wonderful and was clean and the staff were pleasant and helpful. All in all great place and we would stay again.
AAnonymous User🚗 Transportation: The hotel does not provide a shuttle to the airport, you have to take a taxi
🧹 Hygiene: Good
🍃 Environment: Good
🔔Service: We arrived late, and there was only one person at the front desk. It happened that the guests in front had some special circumstances to deal with, so he was a little busy to check-in and waited for a long time. The overall service is good
GGuest UserThe location of this establishment was great, you were within a very short drive/walk to the old downtown of Montreal. The place itself I would classify it as a high class motel rather than an hotel in my opinion. The two queen beds we had were great and clean and so was the washroom. The room could have been tidied up a bit more but overall was okay. The hotel does not have room service. Breakfast was included for our stay and it was your standard breakfast, but it was good and you could not go wrong with it. The parking lot unfortunately was very costly, $46 per night and the space was super tight, if you are driving a minivan or a truck, you will definitely have a harder time parking. Overall it's a decent place, if location is all that matters and you are willing to sacrifice a little bit on the service then this place is good for you.
ZZhangThis is my second time staying at this hotel. My first-time experience was fantastic, great location and very convenient, surrounded by restaurants and stores, nearby metro station, walking distance to hospital. The room ”looks” clean and tidy on the first sight.
All the great things aside, the second stay was the most horrifying night I have ever stayed in a hotel.
BED BUGS!!!!
Unbelievable bed bugs were literally crawling on my bed. In the middle of the night, we had to change our rooms and couldn't sleep with the fear of getting bitten.
Highly recommended if not the bed bugs.
