Motel 6 Austin, TX - Airport
4.1/5102 Reviews
Let me preface this by saying that the only reason I chose this hotel at first was because it was one of the few hotels not pushing or exceeding $200+ per night during SXSW. I needed to be by the airport and away from downtown, so affordability and convenience to the airport were my top priorities. Secondly, understand that this is a Motel 6. The place is very short on amenities: no airport shuttle (though plenty of Uber/Lyft), no fridge, no iron/board, no hairdryer. But that was minor. Plus, the hotel doesn't say they have any of these, so I can't fault them. They do have an ice machine, laundry room, vending machines and microwave (in lobby) which were helpful. That said, we had a great experience here. It's definitely much nicer and newer than most Motel 6s. But what stood out for us was the outstanding service from the front desk staff, particularly Crystal. She definitely elevated our experience. The area isn't the nicest (not that I expected it to be, considering it's near the airport and the highway), but it definitely appears to be an up-and-coming neighborhood. There are a lot of reputable hotel brands in the surrounding area and newer, low-rise apartments being built. Not too many great dining options in the area, but there are the other hotels, Starbucks, 7-11, Denny's, and Waffle House all within 5-10 minutes away by foot. It could be worse. There is a decent food truck lot across the street. It didn't seem dangerous, but I'd still watch my back walking around at night. The hotel itself is a solid 3-rating, but I elevated it to 4 on account of the service. I would probably stay here again if the circumstances called for it.

Big clean room, comfy bed and the breakfast was also good. Nightshift-staff was really welcoming. But it would be good to mention in the hotel description that the airport-shuttle stops at 11pm. Anyway we can recommend and would book this hotel again. :)
Tru by Hilton Austin Airport

The staff is exemplary: both Rose and Patricia took care of my transportation needs from and to the airport. The service is a breeze as you need to have a Smartphone and be able to use Lyft, the ride sharing service. They take care of that for you. Breakfast was very quick after you fill out the order, and the attendant will have that ready for you in no time. I stayed in room 301 during my stay and it was very clean and had no issues with the bed or internet. There are plenty of channels to choose from on the television. Servicing of the room is on-request only. I did ask for the hotel to be serviced on Sunday, but the housekeeper did not come by. I realized that it was Super Bowl Sunday, and most likely had to get home to watch it. There is a small refrigerator in the room, which is always handy and convenient. I did order food from one of the local restaurants, and the driver did leave it at the front desk without amy problems. i had a few issues with billing, but the staff resolved them then and there; no need to wait for the general manager. The staff is empowered to make your stay comfortable. Property cleanliness in and around the elevator in the evening hours were ok; some debris in the elevator when I returned to the hotel on Sunday night, but other than that, it is a clean hotel. Although I did not drive during my stay, there was ample parking in the lot with designated ”Diamond member” parking near the entrance. I will definitely return and stay because the staff (Rose and Patricia) is friendly and professional.
Studio 6 Austin, TX - Airport

This is a fairly new property very close to the Austin airport. Property is kind of a hybrid - half the rooms on each floor are studio suites, with the other half basic rooms. My studio suite was a king room, with cooktop, microwave, fridge with freezer (about 10 cu ft, much larger than those mini-fridges), small dining table, seats 2), closet, no sofa chair, no luggage rack. Setup was efficient, but small. Only has room for 2 guests - while it says it's a suite, it's not very roomy. My son's Scout troop selected this property based solely on price, so parent chaperones needed to stay at the same property. Pros - great rate (book directly for best rate. I paid $53.99 for a studio suite about 3 weeks ahead of time. Most of the parents paid $64. Still a great rate for Austin). Book early. Those who waited until the last minute paid $110 for the same room I booked. Free parking. Large lobby with free coffee in morning. Lots of vending machines (ice makers on property as well.) TV had tons of channels with HBO and Showtime. Cons - parking lot has very limited spaces near building. The rest are down a steep hill on the same lot. No free breakfast (at all). No toiletries provided. Bring your own shampoo, Kleenex, hair dryer, etc. Bath only has mini-soaps. Property is near a busy intersection, so if you are sensitive, road noise will be a problem no matter what you do. Hotel was very busy when I was there. The same lady (Michelle?) was at the front desk working when I was there the whole weekend. She was very friendly. At check in, there was some drama with the couple checking in ahead of me and Michelle handled the situation like a champ! Kept her cool with some very upset people ahead of me. Seriously - management needs to have her put on a clinic to show others how to handle these situations. Overall, a good budget property. In light traffic, the drive to downtown was only about 12 minutes. With all the traffic, I don't recommend walking anywhere (plus the neighborhood seems a bit rough) but there are lots of food options and a massive grocery store (HEB Plus) a short drive away.
