Not up to standard as usually. It's clear not all flats are maintained well as they might have different owners... My flat was small for a large Plettenberg, had tons of misquitos. The second room door could not even close which was bad.

Our stay was good we enjoyed ourselves. The pool was also good. One of our group in number 83 found a scorpion in their challet.

Always great at montagu springs friendly staff always help and the environment always clean waking up in the morning with the sounds of birds chirping is just magical.

Everything qas 10/10. Just lighting should be more bright in the lounge/kitchen area in the large Plettenberg chalet.

We went to the resort as day visitors a few days ago. April is normally the start of the chilly season but we were fortunate to have a hot day. We all had a really good time. The hot spring pools are awesome. Ranging in temperature from warm to really hot, so you can take your pick which one you want to wallow in. The depths vary too which is great, from sitting (great for tiny kids) to barely standing on tip-toes. They have staff that are on the look out all the time and will tell you not to jump/dive etc. So everything is well monitored. The boomslang water slide is so much fun and really beautiful to go down and look up at the mountains as you do! We brought our own picnic food with but did have some drinks and cocktails there which was great. There is nothing I could complain about. If you are looking for a day of fun in the sun, relaxation then this is the place. It feels like you are in a tropical place.

So you think.. hot pools..from the springs right? Wrong..what you get is a booking at Montague springs for accomodation only. You have to pay a nice fee per day to access the hot pools. So budget really wisely when going if you think you have access to a relaxing stay. It was an unpleasant story having booked for my family from Belgium. They were booked in for 3 days and cost was over 5k and got a villa which sleeps 4. Two kids and two adults. Then when the time came to show them the hot pools you had to pay 80rand per person for two day's of use and another 80 rand for the weekend use. I on the other hand was booked in at Avalon hotel which was all that was left...and had access 24/7.... so when I asked if my family who is at the villa can use the hot pools they charged 135rand per day for the same access as Montague springs. Now...this seems unreal right? My frustration got even worse when I was told...I don't make the rules lady. I only work here. So for the unwise such as myself..they are operated by two different companies Montague Springs and Avalon Springs hotel. Seems like visitors are treated like fish or meat. So enough about its access to hot pools. The food is next. Breakfast was reasonable and good. No complaints. Dinner on the other hand leaves much to be desired. Do not order the chicken schitzel. Perhaps another dish would have been better. Try their chicken pie which was value for money with the vouchers they issue you for lunch and dinner...not breakfast as it's included in the hotel booking fee. Rooms are clean and neat although our Jacuzzi deck had someone's blue undies lay there for the duration of our stay. Security is good and everyone gets checked on point. You feel quite safe there. In a nutshell... be wiser about the rules regarding access. So read your terms and conditions if booking via any website. Lesson learned.

This place is awesome, 3 large pools increasing in temperature fed from a steaming hot tub. Try going under the waterfall and then jumping into the hot tub! The water slide is great fun for all ages. You can just sit in the pools, relax on a sun lounger, sit at the bar/cafe or play pool under cover to escape the heat if the sun. I loved it here and would go back on my next visit to SA

My children had so much fun they didnt want to leave. Also the view of the vineyard that we had from our backyard made my husband and I enjoy moments of tranquility.
