Kinsterna Hotel
4.6/542 Reviews
When a hotel is really great, I review it for myself. I love looking back at my reviews to remember my most wonderful travel experiences. This will be one of those reviews. We found the beautiful Kinsterna Hotel is a coffee table book called “Great Escapes Greece”. Obviously, we checked TripAdvisor before booking! Kinsterna exceeded my expectations in so many ways. - We arrived late after the restaurants were closed. The staff (who seem to care for the place like they own it) offered to have club sandwiches waiting in our room. - They grow and make SO MUCH on site. Olives, oranges, marmalade, wine grapes, so many vegetables, etc. What hotel does that! Try the local Kidonitsa wine. - If I’m not mistaken, the pool was fresh water from a well. No chlorine, no salt. - The building has more than just history. Take the tour to learn how they turned ruins into a magnificent complex. - Seriously amazing value - I just wish the flights to Greece weren’t so expensive. - We stayed in a villa, which was built 10-15 years ago. Amazing craftsmanship like you never see any more. I wouldn’t stay there for the spa. The people were nice, but there was room for improvement.
Akra Morea Hotel & Residences
3.9/513 Reviews
We (a family with 2 teenagers) were hugely looking forward to our 3 day stay at Akra Morea - described on its own website as „encompassing high standards of accommodation, and offering security and outdoor activities“. What a disappointment! It seems the hotel has spent all its money on the photographer who shot artful images for the website and a copywriter (or was it a bot?) for its website. The reality is quite different! 1. all ground floor rooms have a view of the cars parked immediately in front their mini patios. Not boutique hotel but rather cheap motel! 2. our room had been done up a while ago but could do with more work - beyond a lick of paint. Grease splatters on the wall of the kitchen. Yuck! 3. beds are extremely uncomfortable. The two singles are much too short to be of use to anyone over the age of 10, too narrow, and even more uncomfortable than the main 4. the bathroom has design challenges. The shower screen is only about 30 cm wide, leaving the bathroom drenched after every shower. When using the toilet, you need to put your feet inside the shower because of space restrictions. Quite unusual to say the least. The smell is as quite unpleasant too. 5. our ‚suite‘ had a kitchen - red mould above the workbench, the whole thing looked 30+ years old rather than boutique hotel, and there were no provisions of even the basics such as a sponge and dishwashing liquid. 6. on arrival, you’ll have to go on on a search for the reception. Should you be in the unfortunate position of staying there, it’s down the steps from the parking lot, behind the pool. 7. breakfast is overpriced for what you get. 8. the sun loungers around the pool urgently need new covers. The ones there are stained and not appealing. The only positive thing is the large pool. In summary: avoid. Hugely overpriced and not at all appealing! You’ll find better elsewhere in the vicinity!
Likinia Hotel

Monemvasia Castle
Such a unique stay as a family at this great hotel! We'd happily stay again. Rooms are super clean, traditional with a modern twist, spacious and comfortable. Great views, great breakfast each morning, great service from staff. Some tips: - If travelling by own rental car, drop off family members at the castle gate with luggage and get spouse to find a parking spot somewhere on the road that leads up to the castle. May take a few u-turns to find one but you will, then you'll have to walk up. There is no parking inside the castle. - Call the hotel Likinia reception (the daughter speaks moderate English) and ask for porter to come help with luggage and guide you to the reception. - there are several hotels within the castle complex, so you will need the porter to lead you there. - travel lightly (don't take too many bags) if you're staying here as there are loads of steps. - take shoes that will be comfortable for lots of walking inside the complex - no high heels. - There is a sign not far from the Hotel that indicates where you can take a dip in 'Sea' - take a towel, wear your bathers and join locals in an invigorating dip in the sea. Just keep an eye on the weather and winds. The owners are super lovely. The older couple don't speak a lot of English, but their adult children do. A really enjoyable experience and we can't wait to go back. Enjoy!

Monemvasia Castle
Very distinctive homestay, with careful decoration. In the castle, it is more convenient to go shopping and eat, to watch the castle and see the sea. There is a kitchen but you can only make coffee and tea. You can't cook without a pot or stove. The car has to park outside the castle.
Aktaion Hotel

Lady of the house, Eleni, made my stay exceeding my expectations, by preparing a tasty breakfast. In this season breakfasts are usually not served, but I was offered it only because I asked. The choice of eggs, toasts, jams, varied fruits, croissants, milk, yoghurt, tea/coffee, cereal, sandwiches, meat. Another best thing is the location: right at the entrance to the island, offering a perfect view. This is the best location for all people who are crazy about photography. I took plenty of nice picture from two balconies: one towards Monemvasia castle and another towards the harbor. The object is clean and well maintained. All workers are welcoming and show interest. I wish them all good luck in business and many satisfied guests, especially those crazy about taking pictures:). Good job, well done, Eleni and the team!! :)

Monemvasia Castle
It’s a great location inland a well maintained house, built inside what used to be a cistern. The owners/managers were friendly and helpful. The bedroom is completely dark and silent at night, great for sleeping.
