My husband and I just had a delightful stay at County Clare Hotel. We were in town for a sad occasion (my brother-in-law’s funeral). The hotel was very welcoming. Staff were kind and considerate. We enjoyed raising a glass to him in the pub, everyone was so friendly! The hotel is quiet, it’s in a beautiful neighborhood with tree lined streets. Our room was tastefully decorated. We slept like babies! The made to order omelet breakfast was wonderful. We’ll definitely stay at this hotel the next time we visit Milwaukee.

The hotel is very very tired. Looks like no money spent on it in a long time. The carpet in our room was very stained, the hotel is not great. We were 2 couples on a 10 day trip and this was the worst hotel we stayed in ( and one of the more expensive). The hotel caters for breakfast by moving chairs in the lounge to accommodate cookers and food. The bread and bagels were wrapped in cling. The only redeeming feature was the cooked breakfast. I live in Ireland and this is a bad representation of irish hospitality.

Our stay at the County Clare was one of the highlights of our road trip to Milwaukee! While we've never been to Ireland, when you step inside you feel like you may have been transported to a classic Irish Inn with the dark wood, green and gold decor, and the vintage Guinness posters. The room was comfortable and quaint from the giant bed, a soaking tub (with jets), and some additional vintage decor. We ate dinner the first night at the Inn and it was solid comfort food with a good variety of beers on tap in addition to the traditional styles you'd expect to find at an Irish Inn. The breakfast which is included in your stay is a selection of pastries along with a made to order omelet bar that you don't want to miss. Breakfast starts at 8am, so if you want something other than room coffee, there is a fantastic coffee shop about two blocks away called Fairgrounds. Overall, a fantastic find in Milwaukee at a very reasonable price.

It's been a few years, but we've eaten lunch at County Clare a number of times over the years. As usual, the environment interesting and friendly. I ordered the root soup and Shepards pie. Usually the food is excellent, but this visit the taste was average. Will visit again next time we're in Milwaukee.

We had all just traveled through Ireland for two weeks in June so when we saw this place it was a must try kind of place. It totally has the look and feel of many of the Irish pubs we frequented in Ireland. And the Guinness hit the spot just the same. Now that said, the food I did not find amazing but still tasty. I would definitely come back for a pint though.

We loved this place! Had dinner and came back for some love Irish music, appeared they had live Irish music most nights. Great food! Great prices. Warm friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely stay in the hotel if we ever came back, looked much nicer than the one we stayed, and the County Clare had much better price point also. Highly recommend!

I previously gave the County Clare a 5 star review for the 3 other times I have stayed at this small quaint Milwaukee Inn. This time I give it ZERO stars. My review now is STAY AWAY. My most recent experience - which I am still in the middle of -- is so horrible that it is Kafka-esque. I cannot believe I let a HOTEL treat me so abusively. Here is what happened: I checked in at 8 am even though I paid for my room starting the night before, which I thought was flexible of me. When I arrived, I could tell that the woman at the front desk was confused because at first she told me that "my room was not ready." I politely answered (after a night of no sleep) that my room has to be ready because I started paying for it the previous afternoon, literally 18 hours earlier. She seemed flustered, corrected herself, and gave me a room. But I did not feel confident that my room was in the system. Later in the day, I noticed that my keys stopped working. One of my keys never worked at all, and the other stopped working each time I left the hotel. I had to return to the front desk every time I left my room, no matter what kind of rush I was in. Each time I asked for a new key, I was told without any doubt that I had demagnetized the key by keeping it close to my phone or my wallet. Each time I explained that I kept the key by itself in a zippered pocket in my shorts without anything else so the key was not demagnetized. It was turned off. Later that night I was out to dinner with the 10 or 12 relatives to had returned to Milwaukee for a family reunion, and found myself locked out late at night. Even though the bar was winding down, there were a few people eating and drinking in the back, and I had to ask them to please swipe the door so I could get in. I did not like interrupting their night but I even more so did not want to sleep on the street. Fortunately the bartender was still there, and he made me a new key. But by then I was pretty traumatized. I am traveling alone and staying at an inn that closes down every night between 10 pm and midnight (mostly at 10), and they refuse to fix my key situation. Literally, it is impossible to get into the hotel after 10 or 11 PM if your key does not work. So it is pretty unpleasant. The following morning I woke up for their "breakfast" and saw that there was not ONE item for vegans or people who are lactose intolerant. They did not even have non-dairy creamer for coffee, which is ubiquitous virtually everywhere else. I asked like 10 times because it seemed inconceivable to me that they wouldn't have the little packets of nondairy creamer. But they didn't. When I asked why not, they said with pride that they are the only hotel that chooses not to accommodate vegans and lactose-intolerant people, who actually comprise the majority of our planet's population. This really was nothing to be proud of. And I feel horrible but I really needed coffee, so for the first time in FIVE YEARS I poured milk into my c

County Clare is a little gem in the neighborhood! We brought some Canadian visitors north from Chicago for a quick trip to the Wisconsin State Fair. We wanted one night in Milwaukee before heading to the fair. We relied on TA reviews when picking this, and we are so glad we did. No need to spend twice as much to stay right downtown. County Clare is close to just about everything, including the lovely lakefront. The staff could not have been nicer. The room was super spacious and stocked with all sorts of amenities. Both dinner and breakfast were very good. And the free parking probably saved us another $30. County Clare cost less than the not-so-great Sonesta Milwaukee West where we spent the following night, and it blew it out of the water in terms of cleanliness and amenities. Our Canadian friends travel a lot in the States and were shocked at how reasonable it was for what we got. We will definitely be back.
