We booked 10 days ago to stay here tonight, had an email 2 days ago asking us to confirm the booking, only to arrive in Milnthorpe this afternoon to be informed by a passer-by that the hotel had been closed for over 2 WEEKS! Not acceptable!

We came in here at lunch time hoping to have some lunch before a family funeral at a local church. The landlord and landlady couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming. We were the only guests in the pub and they lit us a warm fire. Even though they were not serving food they offered to make us some chips or cheese toasties or suggested places we could get some food and bring it back to eat in the pub. The flexibility and friendliness of the new owners (9 weeks) was absolutely brilliant. I wish you the best of luck with this pub. You deserve it

Lovely traditional coaching inn. Very hospitable and great value for money. We called in without booking for a Sunday Roast and we’re not disappointed with the price and quality, well worth a visit. The dizzy blonde IPA was delicious and well kept, roast was a good old fashioned pub Sunday dinner with a lovely sticky toffee pudding to follow.

From the onset , this little treasure of a hotel surprised me . The Landlady was friendly , efficient and good service was had. The breakfast is continental, the beer is good with a selection 👌. A happy atmosphere with a welcoming feeling . I would return .

The Managers were lovely, as people, and even sat chatting with us (we ate in pub and food was good, mainly frozen, but good portions and reasonable price). We booked family room for 2 nts inc Bank Hol Monday, but we left before staying at all. Check in was quick and easy, Manager welcomed us - warm and friendly. Room, we noticed that beds weren't made up right (sheets hanging off/pillows lop sided) so as we made them, we stripped them to start again and noticed stains on Matress Protector. Toilet seat completely broken and couldn't be repaired at all. No good for our 3 and 9 yr olds. Bath dusty and had hairs in that weren't ours, finger could pick up plenty of dirt that shouldn't have been there. Sink plughole had hair and foil/wrapper in it and bathroom shelf had toothpaste on it. All very easy fixes, but personally, down to a lazy cleaner or no cleaning at all. Raised issues with lovely Manager, who agreed that it was all unacceptable and cleaner must have rushed. We decided to eat tea in pub and give cleaner/Management time to put it right. The food and service helped to redeem the awful room hygiene, this is where the 2 stars have been given. After about half hour, our room was 'done' and cleaner photo'd note to Manager, apologising for state of room and hoped we were now happy. Not at all, the room and its filth were all the same! Cleaner had merely neatened the bedding, ontop of the dirty sheets! Managers notified again and full refund plus money off meal accepted. By this point we were looking for elsewhere to stay. One Manager went to our room to clean himself, but it still wasn't clean, bathroom shelf filthy and by this point, we'd lost heart, as it was nearing 8pm. Nowhere local had room, so we had to drive back home 1.5hrs, kids were gutted and there were tears. We paid 103 for all 4 of us and dog for 2 nights, which i knew was cheap, but i also knew the new Managers, who'd had pub for past 4 weeks, might be using pricing to attract folk to stay and give opportunity for great reviews / increase footfall, but unless the cleaning and hygiene of rooms is massively improved, this will never happen. In my opinion, pub/hotel has massive potential, is in good location South Lakes and pub has a cosy/down to earth feel, but we won't be staying again and we won't recommend the accomodation to anyone. If the rooms are thoroughly checked by Managers and care is paid to High Touch Points, the rooms would be so much better, but giving cleaner 2nd chance and Manager helping out, doesn't fill me with much faith that we'd go back.

We stayed here for a couple of nights to attend a nearby wedding. We needed somewhere reasonably priced and our expectations weren't excessive. I was so surprised; the hotel was a little star of a place. The room was smart and clean, the continental breakfast was delicious, the pub was spotless and all the staff so friendly. The management had only recently taken over and have clearly worked incredibly hard to get the place to a high standard. If we are in the area again we will be happy to return!

Welcoming , friendly and extremely helpful staff. Rooms were warm , clean with comfy beds. Continental breakfast started our day off nicely. We will definitely be paying them another visit when visiting friends. The manager insisted on taking us to pick our car up in the morning.

My wife and I stayed @ the Crosskeys shortly after it had reopened. The hosts, Kelly and Paul, were both welcoming and attentive. This historic hotel had been neglected before they got to grips with it. I'm sure all their hard work will pay off. We'd definitely go back. Ian - Wirral

A heritage property which needs some attention but has a well meaning host and an awesome pub( 100 years of functioning in the same place) with a pool room. We got a room the flush wasn’t working but we were exhausted to let anyone come into the room to fix it. So we found a way to make it work and that meant only one person could work it. We had to check out by 5 am next morning so we made it work. Good takeaways close by. Easy parking validation. Beds and towels were kept well. Dear owners if you read this please fix room 4, and preserve the history of the place.
