The Silverton Inn ★★★
"Barman was very rude when I tried to check in"
Fox & Hounds Country Hotel ★★★
"I went to the hotel for a meal as this was a recommendation by a friend. On arival for our table we were greeted by a friendly face and asked if we would like to sit by the fire to have a drink prior to our meal (a lovely touch) we sat and enjoyed our drinks and our order was taken. We sat by the fire and our amouse bouche arrived, a real predinner treat a devon blue cheese tartlet with chorizo jam ... amazing!! We were then taken to our table for our starters the 'new' menu dishes a hogs pudding and black pudding combo with apple .. chef ... top work !! The other starter was an artichoke terrine which was again top drawer. There was a nice rest between our starter and main course which was perfect to have a drink and relax before the next delight. We both ordered the new veal dish and again what a dish ... wow!! We were both very full by the end of our meal and had no room for dessert unfortunately but we did manage to squeeze in a coffee by the fire. Cannot reccomend this hotel enough the food, staff and atmosphere all amazing. The dogs in the restaurant make it a special environment theres not many hotels where they look after their customers and dogs to such a high standard. We are coming back for the valentines taster menu which cannot come soon enough. ***** 5 star food and 5 star service keep up the good work guys"
The Quarrymans Rest ★★★
"Best pub I've been in in a long, long time! A proper, honest pub. Very friendly. Well kept beer and a pickled duck egg! What more do you want? If you remember when pubs were pubs then don't miss this beauty. Thank you for making us so welcome. See you soon."
Bickleigh Castle ★★★
"Beautiful place so quiet & serene! I would absolutely recommend a visit! We initially booked as we were coming with our grandaughters nova & Willow from London to go to see our adopted donkey Jimmy at The Donkey Sanctuary! Sarah kept in touch with us & was waiting to greet us when we arrived as was Timmy the cat(who my grandaughters loved)Now the only thing I will say is that if you are a family with small children mine are 7 & 3 the Barn house is not for you it has two separate bedrooms that are parted by a bathroom the external door is open all night so not ideal I slept in the double bed with my grandaughters & my husband slept in the other room with the two single beds! We did book a family room this ideal if you have older children but not for young children I would call Sarah in advance of booking just to check what is available! On the pulse side we did get two rooms for the price of one so very much appreciated! Lots to see & do & definitely go to the Train Museum well worth the money & the girls loved it!"
Hillside Bed and Breakfast ★★★
"The lady was great, very polite and helpful. The room itself great and the bed was huge. It had everything you needed and more. Good night's sleep. The breakfast was probably the best I'd been looked after in a hotel and everything was great. If I'm ever in that area again it will be my first thought of place to stay."
The Globe Inn ★★★★
Anchor Inn ★★★
"As others here have mentioned the Anchor has good surroundings right next to the River Exe! It's a large pub with more than ample sitting/dining areas, there is also a large beer garden and a play area for the kids. It's a clean and very modern pub. The menu is very good, and the quality of the food was excellent. The staff were more than helpful and most efficient. The one gripe I will make is about the very small toilets, the smallest I have ever used! If you are 6-foot tall and using the cubicle then you are going to struggle. Nevertheless, I still recommend a visit to the Anchor."
Bampton Townhouse ★★
"Great marketing and a very comfortable bed but very far from luxurious! We were in the biggest room with nowhere to put our clothes. I’ m 5ft 6” and could barely reach the cost pegs which were too large for my coats; there was nowhere else to hang up clothes and the couple of tiny drawers were big enough for underwear only. Cases had to be opened on the floor. Coffee/tea but no milk were available in the kitchen downstairs (I got dressed again and went to the Spar opposite for milk). A tiny plastic box in the bathroom held the very mean selection of shampoo etc. ( only enough shampoo for one and a couple of sample type sachets of bath oil). Are 2018 magazines sufficiently old to be considered retro? That’s the reading material in the room. Perhaps the owner has not noticed the damp in the wall beside the large mirror. This is an AirB&B at best, certainly not a hotel."
The Exeter Inn ★★★★
"Quaint old pub. A mile out of town. Bedroom very clean & well equipped. Dinner & breakfast no more than average."
