Motel 6 Metropolis, IL

No problem if you just sleep There is a convenience store near the hotel. A short drive away is McDonald's fast food restaurant.

I was passing through and needed to do something in Paducah the next morning. This Motel 6 was convenient and the price was okay. Room was clean and everything worked. There’s not much more to say about a budget motel that checks off the few boxes you expect.

I have stayed in Metropolis many times. I used to stay at another place but it has gone downhill in recent years. Cose this place because of the price and not many negative reviews. Positives: good location near the interstate, room is clean, odor free, bug free..... everything works. Negatives: they provide a desk, but NO outlets near the desk. there are 2 outlets but taken by the refrigerator and microwave. (I unplugged the microwave so I could use my laptop) It was a King room, one bed and just empty space. Why couldn't they put some furniture in there? .... a couch, a table... anything. NO coffee maker in the room!!! No breakfast, but they did offer some lousy coffee in the lobby. no shampoo, cheap towels. This place will do for a one night stopover if you are on a budget and only want a bed to sleep on.

NO INTERNET NOR REPLY FROM ASST. GM Hotel advertises WiFi, but as it turned out, not in the room. Tried several times to activate the WiFi, but no luck. Tried calling the front desk, but the room telephone did not work. Pushed cables in nice and tight, but the phone still would not work. Went downstairs to the front desk and the attendant gave me a code to use in place of my last name/room combo. Went back to the room, still no WiFi access, even with the code. Tried the phone again, no luck. Went back downstairs. Attendant tried the desktops in the lobby. They worked, and she just walked away saying there's nothing she could do. I ended up going out to a local restaurant to use their WiFi. Should not need to do this. Sent a note two days later to the assistant GM. John L. sent me an email with questions; I answered in a reply. Five days later, and still no word from John L. Would have given only one star, but seeing the hotel was clean, raised it to two. Bottom line, I should NOT need to go elsewhere to use the internet. Holiday Inn Express advertises internet, they should provide it.
