Hotel Anfora

My room was simple but clean, and the service exceeded my expectations for a budget property. Thanks to a 24-hour front desk, I was able to check in late, and the hotel even sent a cab to meet my 12:30 a.m. ferry from Malaga. The dining room was closed, but several nice little coffee shops nearby served breakfast. The location couldn't be beat -- three blocks from the castle in one direction, the stunning array of Modernist buildings in the other.
Hotel Melilla Puerto Affiliated by Meliá

Four of us stayed here in 3 rooms, paying €258 per room for 4 nights using a Black Friday deal and my Meliá Rewards 20% discount. Although the hotel had promised me an upgrade in view of my Meliá Rewards gold status, my friends who arrived earlier than me were given better rooms than me. Diego's excellent problem-solving skills resulted in my move to a much better room with a sea view. It was only Diego's second day working at the hotel, but he gave the impression that he had been working there for years with his in-depth local knowledge and friendly efforts to make everyone happy. He was by far the most helpful member of staff in the hotel during our 4-night stay, and he speaks excellent English. The hotel's location is perfect - very close to the bars and restaurants of the city centre and also close to the beach. The refurbished rooms are very comfortable. The built-in bedside tables are far enough apart to accommodate wider beds, which suggests that the hotel intends to replace the beds at some point too. There are plenty of power sockets everywhere, and the safes are large enough for a 16” laptop. The wifi seemed to be capped at around 10Mbps upstream and downstream. The only improvement would be the shower trays, which are almost flat with no lip, allowing water to spill out on to the bathroom floor. It didn't bother me much, as it was more of a problem for housekeeping than for me. We hired e-scooters from Nova Digital, which the hotel allowed us to charge in the baggage room and even to take up to the lifts to our rooms. There was an outage of hot water for several hours during our stay, and I was delighted that the hotel left some complimentary red wine and selection of Spanish meats in my room to apologise. This was presumably in recognition of my gold status, given that my friends didn't receive this. It's inevitable that things go wrong everywhere. What matters is not whether things go wrong, but what a hotel does to put things right. This was a nice gesture. Breakfast was very well coordinated by Yamila, although I would have liked more choice for the price of €12 per head. Tomato juice was lacking, which was surprising in a country where tomatoes form such a prevalent part of the national diet. The hotel gave me 4pm late checkout in view of my gold status, which was very useful as my return flight was later than those of my friends. Melilla is such an interesting, unusual and enjoyable part of Spain. If I return, I look forward to staying at this hotel again.
Parador de Melilla

Stayed for five nights at the beginning of September. Paradors are always special and Parador de Melilla is no exception! The views are fantastic, totally worth the steep walk up the hill to get there. My rooms was large and spacious with a great view from the balcony - lovely at sunset. Bathroom was also large with nice toiletries. The staff are fantastic, especially the ladies working on the front desk and in the cafeteria (small bar). The breakfast was good: cold food in buffet style and some hot options on request. Pots of tea also available on request. Lunch and dinner are available, although I didn't try them. There is a small bar (the Cafeteria) open for drinks and snacks through the day. One thing to note, check for recent photos of the swimming pool. It is still nice but looks quite different now to some of the photos on TripAdvisor, for example the large lawn area is no longer there. Check pool opening times as well if you're planning to use it. When I was there it was 12h30-14h30 and 16h30-20h30 in July and August and 16h30-20h30 in June and September (closed the rest of the year). It's a nice shaded pool for a refreshing dip at the end of the day. There is a lifeguard on duty. Overall, a very nice place to stay in Melilla!
Hotel Nacional Melilla

As a 500-year-old enclave in Spain, it is indeed well built. In order to travel economically, I booked this hotel, which is equivalent to the level of budget hotels such as domestic ”Vienna”. In Western countries, slippers and toothbrushes are not environmentally friendly. Don't expect; It was the morning to the hotel, telling 12:30 to stay, leaving the backpack at the hotel and going out. The location of the hotel is the core area of Melilla. This aspect is worth living. I didn't expect to return at 12:30. The room has not been there yet. I waited in the lobby for an hour; Spanish is very tenacious in the world, Spain and South American countries, can speak English proportion is not high, than other small European countries are worse, so communication is not convenient; The next morning at 8 o'clock in the morning, I didn't get a taxi after checking out at 6 o'clock. I walked to the airport according to Google maps. I found that the last section of the road was not corrected because of a tunnel shortcut. In fact, it was 20 minutes less than the navigation. It was 40 minutes at the same time to go to the airport. It also shows how small this place is; I didn't see the Oriental, but it was worth the city for two days. Malaga or Madrid are very convenient to fly over.
