This is not my first time staying at Ames Hotel, it's my third time, and it will be the last!! I travel for business almost every week, both within Malaysia and abroad. I have stayed in dozens of hotels, as you can see from my record on the Agoda website, but this has been the worst stay ever!!! I arrived at midnight, and no staff assisted with my luggage. There was a male staff in a black shirt who just walked past me at my car without offering any help, and there was also a pregnant woman (a customer) who just got out of her car to check in, and no one helped her either. The night manager, named FARED, assisted with my check-in. I requested a late check-out at 3 PM because I had an event under my company at the Ames Hotel as well, but the next morning, he informed me that I had to check out at 2 PM. I complied even though I had told Mr. FARED the night before about the late check-out at 3 PM. However, when I was having breakfast at the Merchant Lounge, a manager named JOSEPH told me that I had to check out by 1 PM, even though FARED had confirmed with me the night before that I could check out by 2 PM. I find this completely unacceptable. JOSEPH also mentioned that my room was upgraded for free, even though I paid extra for the suite—it was not free. I found this extremely rude and unprofessional because he did not check my room details before speaking with me. He made it seem like I received a complimentary upgrade and was not entitled to the service I deserved. This is extremely disrespectful, and this is my honest review of Ames Hotel Melaka. Thank you to the lounge staff named DILA for calming my wife and me and providing good hospitality service.

Convenient Location and Decent Rooms, but Choose Wisely for a Quiet Stay Hatten Hotel is a very convenient option, especially if you're traveling from Singapore, as some Singapore-Malacca coach services stop directly at the hotel. The rooms are decent and clean, but if you’re a light sleeper, I’d recommend requesting a room away from the lounge area, as noise can be a bit of an issue at night. The hotel is surrounded by some shopping options and even has a supermarket nearby, which is helpful for picking up any essentials. Getting around is easy too—Grab services are readily available, so you can quickly get a taxi to other areas in Malacca if needed. Overall, a practical choice for travelers looking for convenience in the heart of Malacca!

### Review of Hotel Majestic Malacca I recently stayed at Hotel Majestic Malacca and had a mixed experience. The room was very clean, and I enjoyed a nice bathtub experience, which was a highlight. However, the soundproofing in the room was lacking; I could hear conversations from the next room until midnight, so it might be helpful to request a quiet, non-smoking room when booking. Additionally, there was a noticeable smoking smell coming from next door, and the pillow had an unpleasant odor. I found the mattress to be too soft for my preference, which affected my comfort. The room featured a coffee machine, and I appreciated that I could request additional capsules. I also liked the eco-friendly touch of using glass bottles for drinking water. However, be aware that items like cup noodles and drinks in the fridge are chargeable. Breakfast offered an à la carte menu that was just average—acceptable but nothing special. I didn't have time to explore the gym or swimming pool, as my days were filled with walking around Malacca city. The toilet amenities, however, did not meet my expectations considering the room price. I think they could benefit from using a better-smelling shower gel and shampoo. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and provided good service throughout my stay. There is parking available behind the building, but as a woman returning late, I appreciated being able to park in front of the hotel for safety. Overall, while there were several drawbacks, the cleanliness and service made for a decent stay.

Pros: Very refreshing welcome drink ginger ale BUT cold towel was smelly. Friendly frontdesk staffs. Beautiful hotel & great ambience. Room is spacious & clean. Cold & adjustable aircond with ceiling fan. Comfortable bed & pillows. Separate toilet, shower and bath tub; with bath salt & rubber duck. Free and covered parking, parking attendants even cleaning up your car windscreen for free. Free wifi. Complimentary in-room coffee makers & menu bar items. Satisfying breakfast buffet. No deposit required. Walking distance to Jonker Street & other nearby attractions. Quality herbal-smell toiletries. Cons: Arrived early but need to wait quite sometimes as room was not ready. Long lines at the front desk during my check-out. No bidet. Limited tv channels. Lousy noise when using water spray next to toilet.

This is a very new hotel which started their business in March 2023. Wanted to try on the first day of opening but due to some reason, it was delayed till now. It’s a first Marriott hotel in Melaka, so I do have very high expectations from them. As a Marriott platinum elite member, I’ve stayed in many hotel under Marriott organisation. Upon reaching the hotel with grab car, the staff came up to me immediately and lead me to the check in counter, the lobby are huge, and I can still smell that the hotel are still so new. Not much of the guest in the lobby area, it’s a Monday so I guess it’s normal. No suite room upgrade and no complimentary breakfast for a platinum member, although I was upgraded to a strait view room which I appreciated it. It can see a tiny bit of the sea. Apart from that, I guess the room size and amenity are the same. The check in staff told me that the suite room was full… I mean.. it’s a Monday.. and I literally still can see the suite room was available in the Bonvoy app. As I’ve mentioned, I’ve been to many hotel under Marriott organisation. I don’t always get upgraded to a suite room, but it was okay, I do understand all these are subjected to individual hotel policy and it’s all a good will. But I guess the staff could just tell me that the hotel are still new, the suite room are limited and it’s reserved for paying guest. I would totally understand that. But I don’t think it’s wise to you know, use a default replied as member like us, we check on the app. For me, if there’s no available suite room, I wouldn’t even ask for an upgrade. Secondly, there’s no complimentary breakfast, I paid RM70 for the 2 day breakfast. I’ve stayed in a few courtyard hotel, this was the first one that I’ve paid for breakfast, there might be other courtyard that don’t provide complimentary breakfast for guest with elite status, maybe I didn’t stay much enough to see it all. I’ve stayed with hotel that told me that their facility actually don’t offer complimentary breakfast for elite member, but they will just give it to me as a good will on top of my welcome gift. Just a little suggestion, like maybe let the counter staff to decide, if they could slip in some complimentary breakfast to guest with elite status or even guest that potentially come back again. I’m not complaining here, just some of my suggestions. The room are new, nice and spacious, very clean. Nice TV channel selection, view was great. Bed are firm to the level that I like, they offer pillow menu as well. Had very good sleep for the 2 night. Breakfast was very basic. There’s a very annoying flies flying around my table.. how did it come into the hotel, lol. Gym are small but there should be everything you need. The infinity pool are great! Very good view and very Instagrammable. Please visit the pool when you are here. The staff and friendly and nice. Would come back again to the hotel when I’m back in Melaka.

Convenient location close to the city centre, sea view was great. Slight hiccup with the door access but the front counter sorted it out pretty quickly. There was a 50% off pizzas and pastas at the hotel’s Italian restaurant at level 1 on weekdays between 2-5pm (?). Can’t imagine I’d ever have Italian in malacca but we reached at 9.30pm on day 1 when everything else was closed and the pasta we had was pretty amazing, amongst the better Italian food I’ve had.

I recently stayed at the DoubleTree Hotel Melaka, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed, providing a perfect blend of comfort and luxury. The amenities were top-notch, including a well-equipped fitness center, a refreshing pool, and various dining options that offered delicious and diverse cuisine. Special thanks to Hotel Manager Mr Zahier, and other staff Mr. Syahmi, Mr. Aliff, and Ms. Alia, whose exceptional service made our stay even more memorable. Their professionalism and friendly demeanor truly stood out. A unique feature of the hotel is their dedicated WhatsApp number for guests, which constantly checks on your stay experience. This level of attentiveness is commendable. They even went the extra mile to call me back when I accidentally left my Apple charger behind, ensuring I could retrieve it without hassle. I highly recommend DoubleTree Hotel Melaka to anyone looking for a great place to stay. The combination of excellent facilities, delicious food, and outstanding staff made my visit truly enjoyable.

Saw many recent comments that described the negative parts, so I was a bit hesitant to book at first. But I went ahead because it was the cheapest (26-27 Nov 2021) and it’s not located among the busiest parts of town. I came with my wife and two children – aged 9 and 4. Through Agoda (listed in TripAdvisor, obviously pfftt), I got the Superior Triple Room which had with it: - 1 king bed - 1 single bed - 1 sofa large / long enough for an adult person to sleep on. - free buffet breakfast for 3 pax All these + taxes + surcharges + fees on the end-of-Nov weekend = RM 292. RM 292!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please refer to my pictures for the descriptions below; --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Room --------- - it was clean; towels, mattresses, pillows, etc. all smelled nice too - TV worked fine – some free TV channels + radios; two USB ports can be used, no HDMI ports - aircond was good; its remote worked fine as well - shower was great; it was easy to adjust heat and cold shower - water pressure was strong; flush and bidet were in good conditions - balcony was windy and the river view was calming; the grill’s height was higher than standard, I’m 175cm and its top was above my navel. So, I think it’s quite safe even for children to lounge around for a few seconds - nighttime was quiet; we went to bed around 11.45 pm and there was nothing (happening) downstairs - toiletries and basic tea-coffee sets were aplenty; got clothing iron sans the board Hotel -------- - indoor pool was just down the hall; we went into the pool room didn’t take a dip, the size was decent for an indoor pool - all three lifts were operational and fast; even with the traffic of weekend tourists, we never had to wait for more than a minute - check-in process took roughly 3 minutes; check-out was less than 15 seconds - all the staffs were pleasant and helpful, no matter where I came across them - the single-entrance basement parking was free of charge and bright enough even at night with security guards; there were hundreds of parking bays, so no fuss about fighting for one - I don’t think it’s THAT far from the town because you just literally have to cross the bridge and you’re there. I timed it; it took me a whole 8 minutes from Riviera’s basement parking to reach Dataran Pahlawan / Imperial Heritage. If that’s far, just book Hatten then and Bob’s your uncle =) Restaurant --------------- - buffet breakfast was more than enough for RM15/pax (not that I had to pay for my son coz he’s 4 years old); many of the typical Malaysian heavy breakfast choices were there, like nasi lemak, fried kuétiau, fried noodles, fried mihun, white bread, and porridge + boiled eggs, hotdogs, condiments, etc. - food counters were easily accessible; tables are minimal inside the restaurant but there were a lot more outside (for both covered and open-air areas) - cutlery was clean

Everything was great. I was skeptical at first but for family traveller that just need some comfortable night, this is great enough. Those that maybe look out for breakfast, swimming pool etc etc, I am not sure but room was great.

Stayed at this place, house converted to apartment, the room is big with additional bedroom, 2 queen size bed with bathtub and shower, big toilet and the place is clean, internet is fast with big TV and lots of movies app to watch. Swimming pool is cold as it is mostly in the shadow, better swim in the evening. The location of the apartment is away from most places but near shop house with nonya food, yet because of the location, the view from the apartment bath room and living/bed room is the sea view, BEAUTIFUL! washing machine, microwave oven, fridge, extra toilet at the kitchen. Tips: Book the unit A-23-30 which is the exact room, great view.
