PARKROYAL A’Famosa Melaka Resort

Pros: - Requested for deco & room upgrade for our anniversary through Trip booking app and the hotel fulfilled our request. They also provided a complimentary cake for us! - Spice Brasserie has a wide selection of food for breakfast - asian, western, noodles, etc. Coffee machines are also available everywhere. - The pool is quite big. Depth was also ok, I think for adult it was about 1 m and for kids 0.9 & 0.6 m. Slides were enjoyable for the kids. They also provide many eqps to rent. Not sure about the price since we did not rent any. Playground for kids was also ok. Was not able to go to the kids club cause it opens at 10 am. - Bed was comfy, aircond was ok. Limited choice of room service/in-room dining. - Passport activity was fun for the kids. They had fun collecting stamps and were looking forward to claiming their prizes. Rooms for improvement: - Check in - queued for an hour to check in (on a saturday, not a public hol/school hols, but they had functions (company dinner?) on that night and day after (wedding)). One of the rooms our group booked was not ready so we requested for late check out (room was ready for an hour+ later) and they kindly obliged. - Pool - did not seem to be maintained well, water seemed a bit murky and the inside was slippery. The pathway from the kids pool (0.9 m) to the single slide was also slippery. The mats they placed helped but I think they should also be placed on the stairs and should have a wider coverage. Also, the hotel should have predicted the number of visitors (esp kids) and should have placed more seatings near the kids pool. Many parents had to stand or go into the pool to monitor their children. Since school hols are coming, it would be best to get these fixed asap. - Passport Activity - Initially during registration, they did not offer me the passport cards. I had to ask about it… Just before leaving the hotel, my kids were so excited to claim their prizes but when we went to Spice, we were told that the prize with the most amount of stamps (6- mac & cheese) & least (2- biscuits) have finished. My children along with my nieces were disappointed and sad. They were so excited to redeem the mac & cheese. We persuaded them to settle for the 1 scoop of ice cream. They were also upset that they were not given a choice to pick the flavour. The lady was kind to offer 2 additional scoops (in 2 separate cups)… however, the children had to divide these 2 extra scoops among the 4 of them. I expected them to be more generous with the ice cream since (1) it took a lot of effort for them to collect the stamps and bring their passports everywhere! and (2) they had to settle for something else. Judging from the crowd of children on the previous day, the hotel should have prepared extra food but it seemed like there’s no backup plan for such instances. - Room - Initially the toilet seemed clean but we realized that there were stains around the floor and toilet bowl. And when using the toilet, we noticed that the houskeepers left dirty bedsheets & towels under the wash basins… Lucky for us we saw the housekeepers nearby so we immediately called them to retrieve the dirty linens. Overall, the stay was enjoyable, especially for the kids. Am hoping the hotel will look into the issues above and improve because the hotel has so much to offer.

The room ,pool and breakfast is amazing

Great location and hotel grounds is fabulous. A great escapade away from city life, you can spend a whole day within hotel compound as there are many amenities. Very kids friendly too. Just wished the room was slightly larger. Nevertheless a great experience by itself.
