Beautiful venue, great location and friendly staff. Only downside is the area is extremely quiet at night and it can be a little intimidating trying to find your way back later in the evening.

it would be a 5 star hotel but..... poor breakfast, with little choice and poorly presented.... it seemed literally "thrown" on the tables.... practically non-existent breakfast staff, zero smiles, they were sitting near the bar counter chatting and I had to go and say what I wanted and again thanks if they prepared it for me.... shame because it denigrated a wonderful structure that would fully deserve the maximum rating for location, price and cleanliness and instead......

Expensive, dirty, no attention to the guest and they even opened my suitcase that was locked with a padlock. 100 dirams for the airport transfer and breakfast without anything to highlight. I do not recommend it at all. If it had good professional management, considering the heritage that still remains, it could be very interesting. So, it was a terrible experience.

I am not even sure where to start. This people are scamming their guests in any way possible. We stayed 2 nights in total and escaped from this place 1 day earlier. The room they gave us in our first night seemed fine as we dropped of our luggage and left the room. There was a heavy room perfume, but we didn’t mind it. After we returned to our room in the evening, there was a DISGUSTING SEWAGE SMELL in the room. So naturally, we tried to air the room a bit by opening the entrance door but it didn’t work at all. So we used our perfume to fix it, it worked only for 5 minutes. In this “peaceful” 5 minutes, we discovered that fitted sheets were full of hairs and dirts. Then, DISGUSTING SEWAGE SMELL came back. We did what everyone would do in our situation: I went down to the reception to complain. Well, I was naive. There was no one in the reception, and security person was snoring so loud in the entrance. So I went back to my room and sprayed the room again in shifts in every 5-10 minutes until me and my partner both passed out. Next day, I found the reception lady and called her to our room. She was also immediately DISGUSTED by the SEWAGE smell and changed the room. I said I went down in the evening to complain but there was no one. And receptionist replied: “sorry, we were fully booked yesterday.” Sheets we were given in the new room were was also dirty. We complained again and they changed it. They just play fool and act surprised when you address the problems. So, we were so disgusted by their behaviour and traumatised by the DISGUSTING SEWAGE SMELL, that I am pretty sure we lost our sense of smell (and our trust in humanity) at some point and decided to leave the place earlier. Side story: let me tell you something about the breakfast. It is served the evening before actually, when they host a party in the common area (in case you didn’t have a problem sleeping yet). Some of the leftovers will be served the next morning in a room charmed with another odour, one smelling like pee this time. Let’s say you wanted to enjoy a cup of coffee, oh boy, get ready for the worst coffee anyone drank in their life. I am dead serious, there is no way a coffee can taste any worse. Anyways, so wanted to leave the place earlier and asked for a refund for the 1st night. Look, not even for the whole stay given everything we went through and all the trauma. Long story short, they denied our request because they believe they “fixed” our problem by changing the room (logic leaves the earth). They said we should have complained when we first encountered with the problem, although I already went downstairs and there was no one to complain, except snoring security person. I invited them to check the security cameras together but they didn’t care. Because this is all they do: they don’t care. So because I couldn’t find someone to complain, and hence I couldn’t complaint, I was responsible?? But this is not going to end here, I will further proceed with my compl

Terrible. DO NOT GO HERE. The sheets looked as if the Ottomans had slept on them 200 years ago. It smells like sewer, they cover it up with perfume which wears off after a few hours. You can't breathe. Nasty breakfast, parties in the hall until late at night and the staff acts as if they have never heard your complaint (even though you also see other people with bad experiences in the reviews). Unsafe to reach after sunset. Don't risk this experience, I don't recommend it to anyone.

This is a really stylish and boutique hotel located in Medina in Tunis. The building used to be a Palace in the past, so you can feel really special here, rooms are nice, big and decorated, beds are comfortable, breakfast does not offer a very big choice, but everything is fresh and tasty, reception staff is very friendly and helpful, really a great place to stay!

The hotel is a beautiful old building. Rooms and all guest areas are clean to a high standard. Room 7 was lovely; quite and spacious. You need to be able to climb steps to access rooms. Staff are polite and as helpful as they can be. We had a few issues (unrelated to hotel - lost bags, transport issues) Hotel tried to support but was unable to get in touch without side agents. Shower was ok but not correctly attached to wall and needed to be held. Free toiletries made available and clean towels daily. Air con very effective Breakfast was fresh fruit, local dishes, cake, boil eggs, bread and fresh coffee. Location is brilliant once you get a rough idea of where you are (if you don’t have it get Maps.me and download Tunisa map: save key locations.) Hotel sorted us a transfer and walked us to the pick up point (can’t access hotel by car: sort 2 minutes walk). My suggest for improvements •more information sharing with guests such as local area, nearest cafe, banks, sights: it’s a maze in the Medina •taxi services •local tour information •opening hours of bar/restaurant etc •a little information on local area and way of life ( opening hours and work days of normal operation in Tunisa: you could be walking miles to find most things are shut). Over all staff lovely and hotel lovely. It just felt at times that guests were a new addition to this hotel.

The hotel was maybe a five star hotel when it opened, but it most certainly is not today. The hotel is old, tired and a three star maybe. The "shower" has no shower. There is a handheld with no place to attach it to the wall. The hotel's response, not all rooms have showers. This is 2023 and not the 1980s. The rooms' garbage pail wasn't emptied. The shampoo was half-used. The hotel had no bottled water, and didn't seem to care that we needed to brush our teeth. The breakfast was disgusting with fruit in juice and bland French bread.

It is beautiful historic building. good location. Breakfast inconsistent- 1st day great, worse the other days. Restaurant food average and VERY over priced. There was no information on what they offered tours , maps hotel card etc . The man at reception ( manager ?) told lies and was out to con us.. rest the staff ok . this place is not 5 star and should a lot cheaper.
