Too expensive! No internet even though it says they have it as am amenity but can't log in or says no ip address found and internet connection says failed. And that's just from troubleshooting. And when confront the staff about it, they always say it's being worked on the next day. So nothing ever got fixed and I'm sure it never will.

My stay with WoodSprings Suites has been really good. I have enjoyed my stay, I owe some of that to Ms. Cecilia. She has done an amazing job in helping me with my stay. I started staying in November 2023, I am here on business. Because of her professionalism, her attentiveness and prompt service, I have decided to continue my stay here for the duration of my job. I had a room reserved for October 1st. At 1:30 in the afternoon, I was 20 miles away from arriving at the hotel, I received a phone call from them, saying they could not accommodate my reservation. They offered to push back the reservation by a day or cancel it without a penalty. I was stunned by the audacity of the hotel. *I* was not trying to cancel the reservation at the last minute, *they* were. How dare they even mention any sort of penalty. After expressing my discontent at the prospect of a cancellation fee, I asked why the reservation was cancelled. I was told some of the rooms had been flooded and couldn't be occupied. Okay, I get it. I'm not sure how they determined who got a room and who got a phone call, but since it was early afternoon I had some flexibility. I asked if they could move my reservation to the WoodSpring in Plano, 12 miles down the road. The young woman I was speaking with said they couldn't. So WoodSpring Suites in McKinney canceled my reservation 90 minutes before check-in, tells me they are nice enough not to charge me a fee, and won't move my reservation to the next closest WoodSpring 12 miles away. I would have ripped into them, but I'm confident the woman who called is a weekend staffer, not an owner or manager. She had to do the dirty work the owners and managers couldn't be bothered with doing themselves. Don't stay at WoodSpring. I didn't. They don't care about you or their own employees.

The staff here is really nice. Cecilia the front office manager is a sweet heart and funny. She always makes sure that you're taken care of. You can tell she genuinely enjoys her job and puts in more than 100%. Anytime something needs repairs maintenance is on it ASAP. They do a great job keeping the common areas clean. The location is right off the freeway and close to everything you would need...even Buc-ees. It's pretty quiet even though it's next to the freeway. I would definitely stay here again. Out of all of the extended stay options Woodspring is the cleanest and most reasonably priced than other extended stay brands. I never felt unsafe like you would at some other places that seem to draw in the sketchy crowd. They do a great job keeping the riff raff down. I'd definitely stay here again.

PROS: soft beds / bathtub / quiet / non-smoking / pet-friendly CONS: somewhat of a long-term stay for occupants / aged rooms / no coffee / extended check-in process / front office closed over weekend / short- term pet fees were ridiculous compared to long-term tenant fee

There was a live roach on the bed and sheets were unbelievably stained. There was a dead roach in the corner and long black/brown hairs on floor in bathroom. Skip this place! The place seemed secure enough with good lighting in the parking lot but not enough pluses to overcome the negatives.

Long story short, I live about a mile away from this Woodspring, Last week, my drain pipe clogged up and turns out it was broken and needed some extensive work to repair it. It was about 9am when I realized I was going to need a room since I couldn't use water in any way at home. So I got online to find a room somewhere nearby, and based on the rates I called for a room at the Woodspring. I called the number for the hotel and pressed 1 to make a reservation. As I'd looked online for the details, check in was at 3pm, and I was hoping this location had a few empty rooms so I could show up early. Ya know, for water reasons. Benj from the call center picked up. She's energetic. If you get Benj you're lucky, she asked me a few things more than once to confirm. I mean, I told her what had happened with the water, and was needing to get a room asap and all that. The thing is, checking in early if there's not a room could get expensive. And it's not always possible, After a few minutes on hold Benj came back. There were some rooms that had been vacant for a while and were ready. That being the case there wouldn't be an early check in charge. Benj told me just to get with Cecelia and say what was going on. Easy peasy. Cecelia was amazing. She really made me feel at home when I came in, told me where everything was at, I felt like a houseguest. This place is generally for longer stays, but you can stay for a night. It's affordable, the vibe is extended stay which is kinda chill, and if you're just passing through, it's on the quiet side, and not too far from Denny's and Waffle House. Whether it's for a night, or a couple of weeks, park your butt here at the WoodSpring in McKinney. You'll get a lot of cool channels, a hot shower (jiggle the bottom of the tub faucet and that turns the shower on), and friendly people up front. There's plenty of cool stuff to do nearby, have some fun! Cecelia will make sure you feel at home when you're there.

WoodSpring Suites McKinney bills itself as an “extended stay hotel”. They keep prices low by keeping frills to a minimum. A two burner stovetop, a full sized fridge/freezer, a microwave, and a large single basin sink come standard. Bed and bath linens are provided. Cooking/eating utensils, however, must be provided by the occupants. Dishwashing cloths and detergents must be also provided by the occupants. We found a bar of hand/body soap in the room upon check-in but no hair products were provided. Others may take issue with what I outlined above, but, as noted, they keep prices low by keeping frills to a minimum. There’s a Target and Walmart just up the road for folks to pick up travel size shampoos, conditioners, dish soaps, inexpensive pots/pans/cutlery/plates/bowls and whatnot. It all averages out in the end. Less than $90 a night for no-frills at WoodSpring McKinney, or $129 or more per night elsewhere for more frills. We found our room and linens to be clean and the heating/cooling unit kept the room at a comfortable temperature. We could hear some traffic noise from US-75 (setting the fan on the HVAC unit to “always on” balanced that out), occasionally someone would slam a door, and the guests four rooms down the hall had a noisy child that we could hear every so often. All in all, the noise that made it into our room from outside our room was typical of what one might expect during a hotel stay. I have no complaints about our one night stay and I’d stay there again if we’re ever looking for a place to overnight in the Allen/McKinney/Frisco area.

All that said, we stayed one night during a visit to McKinney for a festival. Cecelia at the front desk was awesome. Our only request after check-in was ,”is there an ironing board and an iron we can borrow?” She made both available within minutes. Upon returning them I noticed the time of day and asked if she ever gets a chance to sleep. Cecelia is a pro. She works some really grueling hours and she had a smile on and a positive attitude each time we interacted with her. I don’t know her official capacity at WoodSpring Suites McKinney, or her actual job title, but I sure hope the people who run the place show her plenty of appreciation. She is one of the most special most dedicated hotel front office people I’ve ever encountered. They lucked out when they hired her.
