🌲 Massanutten Resort: Quiet Comfort, Big Sales Trap Massanutten Resort is a quiet, well-located spot that is genuinely good for families. However, be warned: The "free buffet breakfast for a survey" is a deceptive timeshare sales pitch. This presentation trapped us for at least three hours, completely wasting a significant portion of our vacation time that we could have used for resort activities. **Verdict:** Great location and setting, but the aggressive sales tactics are a serious drawback. Avoid the "free breakfast."

Comfortable stay at our 4 bedroom condo. Not enough kitchen or cleaning supplies. Sofas were tattered. Carpets had several large stains.Needs some updating.Pools close at 7 pm. Would have liked to go to pool later in evening. Overall ok but nothing to write home about.

We have owned at Massanutten for more than 25 years and we do love the convenience of the 4-5 hour drive from Pittsburgh, but once you are handed your unit keys it becomes a questionable experience. We are always directed to the next counter to receive our parking pass (which is somewhat useless since there are rarely guards at the guard station when you start the drive up the hill. Part of the check in process is the push to get the free meal while you hear about all of the new things going on. As an owner I do appreciate all of the new features, but at what point is enough enough????? I am very tired of hearing how the water park is being expanded to include more features (many of which are only of use during the summer hours). When we come during the fall we find that most places like the restaurants and stores have limited days/hours during the fall/winter season. The indoor pools have never improved the hot tubs so trying to scramble into the hot tub at Woodstone is nearly impossible if you have balance issues or are unable to climb up steps or a ladder and then balance yourself on the edge of the hot tub before plopping down into the water. The space inside the hot tub is rather limited. I have not been inside the other building for some time because the building acoustics are horrible - all voices bounce off of the walls and the place is full of screaming kids, obviously geared towards young families who never learned how to raise children with any manners. Even on nice days during the fall or spring there is little to do outside such as mini golf. The restaurants are horribly overpriced and the menu is very limited and the food is just not worth the price. It is well worth the drive to eat outside of the property - so why would I want to encourage friends to come for a visit in the hopes that they might want to purchase a unit that has no resale value at all in years to come. We have resigned ourselves to make our unit work for us and then let it go into foreclosure when we are too old to make the trip any more so our kids are not dinged with a foreclosure on their record. As for the 55/over village they are planning - just how much is that going to cost us current owners??? I suspect we will have to help offset the cost for those units in some manner and that does not sit well with us. We agreed to do the tour last fall after the girl threw more and more money on a gift card at us and then realized that the last 3 days of our stay we could not use the funds anywhere but a ski lift ride to the top. The restaurants were closed except for the food at Woodstone and I made that mistake once but never again. The water park also was not open those days so by the time we left - after having to make multiple calls to maintenance to have minor repairs made. All of these issues degraded from our "relaxing" stay, especially when the WiFi kept me from attending a mandatory meeting at work and cable outages. I tried to leave this r

Our trip was July 12-19. Upon arrival at check in, it was very busy with others checking in. After checking in at main desk we were told to go across the room to another group to get our parking pass. I encountered a young lady who asked what we were interested in doing or what type of activities we would be doing. I told her we were there just to relax and enjoy the surroundings and did not want to attend a free meal or go on a tour, we were not interested. I asked if this was something i had to do and she persisted on telling me about the free gifts i could get if i went and completed a survey and i needed to make a 20$ deposit that i would get back when i attended the tour and filled out a survey. I told her i did not want to go but she kept insisting as if I had to do this. I finally just gave her the deposit and scheduled a time even though i did not want to. I figured I would give in just to get through the line as she kept at me for maybe 10 minutes or more. Needless to say I lost my $20 because I did not go or intend to go. I knew this was going to be a sales pitch and did not want to waste our time. Our experience was very frustrating dealing with pushy sales, even though I told them I did not intend on going and did not have any interest in purchasing more timeshares. The accommodations at Woodstone were nice. We enjoyed the beautiful mountain views in surrounding areas. WiFi was not the best but after we called about it someone did come and got it working better. Another time we visited your resort we agreed to go on a tour just to see what the other units looked like. We told the salesman we were definately not going to buy more. It was supposed to last a maximum of two hours but he kept at us for almost four and when we told we were not buying he rudely walked away. This makes twice we have visited Massanutten that we have had bad experiences. We will think long and hard before we ever visit your resort again

Massanutten is really going downhill. They’re so busy building more attractions, trying to upsell you and charging unnecessary fees that they’re not taking care of the units that we pay for. When we arrived my unit smelled like a dog had been peeing in it all week. Come to find out they placed us in a pet unit and we don’t even have pets SMH. Then they transferred me to another unit and it smelled the same but not as strong. This unit apparently wasn’t a pet unit but who’s really regulating this? People will bring pets anyway to avoid paying extra fees duhh. Then we supposedly had a full kitchen but had hardly any dishes. The bathrooms had to be cleaned, by us, because they had golden piss spots on the toilets and the floor!! Just pathetic! I’m no longer impressed with Massanuten and major changes need to be made! Coming from a timeshare owner at Massanutten. DO BETTER MASSANUTTEN RESORT!!!!!

While I appreciate the efforts of the resort to find us a unit with the least number of steps into it, having a master bedroom upstairs was a challenge at times. I was shocked to see needed repair in the downstairs bathroom ceiling.

Our family enjoyed the activities available at the location but they fall short on the amenities and maintenances. Liked: Multiple pools, Golf course within walkable distance, full kitchen and near by water park and adventure park. Disliked: 1) Unsecured WIFI, which is overloaded in the evenings and early morning. Slow for any streaming, even to attend office meetings. 2) White towels provided had black stains. 3) Hard to operate front door knobs. Maintenance guys said all units have the same design. 4) Clueless front desk staff, gave us invalid keys and instructed to call security if keys don't work. Security estimated 30 minutes wait time. 5) Check-in took 30 minutes even after pre-check-in and pre payment of fees etc. 6) Outdated phone system with no instructions. 7) Noisy floors and beds. Noises from neighbors woke us up several times during night.

Our unit had not been updated. Kitchen cabinets were old and dirty. I had to wash food residue off of them. Cleanliness was not a high priority for this place. I cleaned the hair and dirt off of the baseboards in the bathroom. I called twice to get dishwashing supplies and no one ever returned my calls. It needs to be explained that nothing is within walking distance from most units. Plus the fact that most activities cost extra. That is not specified in the description when booking this vacation. There is a resort fee but it doesn’t cover much. I was not even allowed in one of the pools. Plus the number of stairs to get to the unit before you book it needs to be specified.
