The Audubon Hotel and Event Venue

My daughter’s wedding at The Audubon Hotel and Event Venue on 10/22/22 was wonderful! The hotel has the staff in place to create a superb event. I live over an hour away. The bride and groom and the majority of the guests traveled from other states. Most were there on Friday and Saturday nights. Everyone raved about what a fantastic time they had. The day of the wedding, the event coordinator took care of multiple details to make sure everything went smoothly. She was on top of every request in an instant. The bartender handled the bar superbly. The local vendors were also great. The bouquets from The Village Flower Shoppe were beyond lovely. Matthew Rodenkirch was our officiant. I highly recommend him. Guests were so impressed with the food we got over the weekend from The Natural Way and Sweet Pea’s. I am so glad we chose The Audubon Hotel as our wedding venue!

This property is a mixed bag for me. The lobby is lovely and has a nice historic look. The A/C worked well, the bed was reasonably comfortable, and the plumbing worked. So, it has positives. Be aware you are charged a "historical restoration fee" and in our room, it was needed. The paint around the windows was peeling and there was mildewed grout (forgot to photograph) in the shower. The art in our room was between "quirky" and "creepy". Maybe other rooms are in better condition. The back jet on the whirlpool tub is positioned to be an uncomfortable lump in your back no matter where you position yourself. There is no daily housekeeping, and the tiny soap sliver and 1 bottle of mini shampoo-conditioner would not last 2 people 4 days, which would have been fine, except the desk was never staffed. The website claims the desk is staffed 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm, it wasn't. Glad we had brought soap/shampoo with us because finding someone to help would have been hard. I saw employees twice - once when one nearly hit me running out the door at 5:00 and one on check-out. When I told the desk staff we had to check out early, the response was a grunt and she pointed to the key drop. No points for cheerful service. Bar/Lounge is listed as a hotel amenity - the Beamont never opened, there was no visible nightlife at all. The hotel had the basics, plumbing, A/C, a bed. But it is nothing special, except the lobby which is nice. Overall, it looks better online than it is, and the list of Property Amenities needs updating.

Hotel was very beautiful architecturally remodeled hotel. Loved walking the top floor to enjoy local artist's beautiful products available for purchase. Grateful to the current owners bringing this property alive to today's state from it's origin 1896. The host that checked us in was friendly and very helpful with questions. That being said there are some comfort short comings. Stayed in room #20 facing front of hotel (Mayville's main street). 1. Heard lots of truck traffic over the night. 2. Portable floor A/C unit - had difficult time programming the fan to constantly run. Instructions would have been very helpful. "White noise" would have helped overcome the street traffic. 3. Windows faced the east so at the 5:22am sunrise, the sun showed through the translucent shades right into the room. Should have installed opaque shades.

The Audubon is a gorgeous old hotel with a true sense of place. The room was comfortable and staff very helpful. Great location with good restaurants nearby. Easy street parking. Fantastic Jacuzzi Tub in the bathroom.

What a beautiful and welcoming place. Historic, spacious & attractive rooms, extremely comfy bed, gorgeous artwork, super quiet. Don't miss this hidden gem! Really enjoyed our stay in Mayville. Off the beaten path but worth it to visit this lovely little town.
