We booked knock House Hotel for lunch last Monday for a group of 25 people,we preordered soup & sandwiches, teas & coffees. It did not disappoint! The soup was piping hot and there was a huge variety of freshly made sandwiches, the room was very clean and well set up of our needs! The staff were so friendly and helpful! There was a really lovely ambiance! We will definitely be back again soon.. IWA Castlebar

Nice hotel in. Tranquil settings ..food very poor .very small portions for dinner .Trying to get a drink here is difficult to say the least . management need to look at staffs inability to customers needs .would not recommend .it seems staff are happy to look after their regular customers but not customers who book on a once of visit .

I have had two recent stays over the summer one of which I just finished today September 6th. The first was in Mid July . The service is definitely 6+ stars and overall it was excellent. Thanks again for an amazing stay and I will certainly return in 2025.

This hotel has certainly improved, the bed was comfortable, the room was spotless and the food was good. However, some staff require training in basic interpersonal skills. We were told we could have breakfast from 8 to 10am, went down at 9:30, the staff were snapping plates from our table, no bread for toast, when I requested more the waitress (with a New Zealand accent) reluctantly threw a basket with 4 slices on the counter and said we are officially closed now. We had a fabulous waitress at dinner the previous evening, she could teach the other waitress about basic manners and what is expected from staff working in the hospitality sector. When checking out the lady behind reception took the room keys and just muttered "all good", no pleasantries e.g. "How was your stay?" "Was everything satisfactory?"

Meeting with family for a special lunch. The portion size of some of lunches were extremely small, not at all value for money. I had the chicken curry but was unable to eat it. There appeared to be a hair and bristles in it. We asked for manager and Simon came. He was extremely rude and had a bad attitude and would not let us explain our complaint, he kept speaking over us. Not a good example to be giving to his staff.

Awful food..and rude staff...no value for money at all... portion was so small..had to grab a supermac on the way home ..curry is inedible but don't complain or you will get a bluffed up self important "manager". Simon who really does not have any manner at all to deal with customers...his appalling attitude ruined what was a special family lunch....

Visited this hotel recently for dinner. We ordered the roast of the day and the burger. To say it was the smallest portion of dinner I have ever received is an understatement. Two of the thinnest slices of beef that wouldn't have made a good sandwich were served with two teaspoons of mash and a serving of mixed veg and a baby potatoe diced. The burger looked nice and came in an open bun with a small portion of chips, no salad. The dining room had no atmosphere whatsoever, all we could hear was people sitting behind and beside us talking. The staff were friendly. Wouldn't return .

I made aware by another guest that some of the rooms are bathrooms were totally refurbished. I was not in one of those rooms but the room was clean and it overlooked the countryside which was lovely. There was a folk singer putting on a show in the hotel and is there every Wednesday from 9pm in July and August and many other events also I was told. I attended that and it was a wonderful evening. James Kilbane is his name and only 15 euro for such a great show I hope to go back soon. I asked for poached eggs at breakfast and they were done perfectly. The young staff were very friendly and were eager to please. There was a lovely young female hotel managed going around making sure everyone was been looked after. That was a lovely touch. I enjoyed my stay.
