Solana Beach Mauritius - Adults Only

Solana Beach Mauritius - Adults Only ★★★★

📍 Coastal Road, Belle Mare, Mauritius

"I recently stayed at the Solana Beach Resort during my trip to Mauritius and wanted to share a balanced look at the highlights and a couple of unexpected drawbacks of my stay. The Highlights: Comfort & Tranquility The Room: We stayed in the Junior Suite Sea View, and it did not disappoint. The room was incredibly spacious, clean, and came equipped with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. Wake up to the sea view was a major plus. Location: Situated near Belle Mare on the eastern coast of Mauritius, the resort is in a very calm, quiet, and peaceful area. If you are looking to disconnect and relax, this location is ideal. Activities & Amenities: The resort has its own spa and offers fantastic sea excursions right from the property. We thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary water activities, including the glass-bottom boat, snorkeling, and paddle boating. The Food & Restaurants: The dining options were a definite highlight of our stay. The main restaurant, Cinnamon, serves an overall good buffet for both breakfast and dinner, featuring a great variety of multiple cuisines including Mauritian, Indian, and Western dishes. Additionally, the resort features another on-property restaurant focused on fine dining that serves excellent Italian cuisine. The Drawbacks: Isolation & Nickle-and-Diming Quiet Nights: Because the resort is far from the main city centers, there is absolutely no local market or nightlife/entertainment nearby. Once the sun goes down, the property becomes very silent. This is perfect for couples or relaxation, but worth noting if you prefer a bit of evening energy. The Water Policy (A Major Disappointment): This was the biggest letdown of our stay. The resort provides 2 complimentary bottles of water daily, but charges for any extra bottles you need in the room. Worse yet, water is chargeable during dinner. Having traveled to almost 40+ countries, this is the very first time I have ever encountered a resort charging for standard table water during a dinner service. For a resort of this caliber, charging for basic drinking water feels incredibly cheap and dampens the overall guest experience."

📍 B59 Belle Mare, Poste de Flacq, Mauritius

"The hotel is large, the catering is rich, and you can enjoy tuna freely. The room is also large, the facilities are new, the service is very attentive, a typical resort hotel, and the bar atmosphere is very good."

📍 B36, Trou-aux-Biches, Mauritius

"The scenery is nice and the environment is okay, but they were still using electric drills until 10 pm during the recent renovations. The management is chaotic, the breakfast buffet is very poor, and they charged me 2,000 Malaysian ringgit."

"Didn't like the food. Compared to other RIU hotels (Dominican Republic, Maldives), the standard is significantly lower. The location is excellent. The beach is big."

"Nice experience for 1st time visit in day package. Thanks to Aron & Celine for games activities and Mr Ladouceur & team at piscine bar. Very friendly staff. Nice environment. As regards food arrangements, may be more items to be included for vegetarians. May be more activities to be included for local people. Nevertheless, great time spent...keep up the good work."

"Enjoyed my stay. PROS Attentive and helpful staff Nice room with nice view Lovely pool and breakfast area Affordable and reliable taxi service CONS The bed wasn’t the most comfortable (my next still hurts) I had food poisoning from the breakfast but that could be a me problem Cats everywhere in the courtyard but that’s not peculiar to the hotel"

📍 Turtle Bay Balaclava, Terre Rouge, Mauritius

"Went to Maritim for 60th with my daughter. The resort is beautiful & clean (but I think some parts in the main dining room & beach bars could do with deep clean & updating) Food from beach bars & main restaurant was very bland, lukewarm, repetitive, very disappointed. We saw food left on the bar for more than 10mins before it was taken to customers on the beach/table. No wonder it was always cold & chips cold, dried up & hard. Even stray dogs & birds wouldn’t eat them!! Beach service scan on the beach does not work so you have to walk to the bar to order food & drinks & wait ages (not as if it’s cooked fresh) The service was extremely slow yet resort was not to full capacity. The other restaurants were always booked up so couldn’t get in. Supposedly booked up, barely anyone in when you managed to get a table. I was very ill after eating the caneloni at fine dining restaurant. Went all inclusive yet charged for meals on beach which were included in all inclusive. Certain drinks free in mini bar were only re-stocked twice in 10 nights despite constantly asking. Emailed twice no response. Although our room was nice & clean the shower & taps water was always lukewarm & leaked from the shower into the bedroom last 2 days. Can’t complain about the staff who were polite & friendly & I enjoyed the horse riding."

Solana Beach Mauritius - Adults Only ★★★★
"The resort looks fantastic, lush green everywhere with lots of nature. The pool area offers beautiful sunsets. There's a separate bar for rum cocktails, which taste excellent. Everything around the bar is also perfectly themed – very well done! There's a secure parking lot on the premises. Unfortunately, it was very windy during our stay. Almost constant wind came from the east (the side of our balcony and the beach). There are also two alternative restaurants within walking distance that we used instead of the hotel restaurant."

Coral Azur Beach Resort, 3 Star ★★★
"The scenery of the hotel is good, and the sunrise and sunset photos are good. However, there are some reefs on the main beach, and there are often groupers in them, which is not suitable for swimming. But you can play in the water The hotel is located near the bus station. There are many buses that can go to the areas along the Great Bay. The fare is only 30 rupees, which is equivalent to 4.5 RMB. Very convenient. The open beach near the hotel is better and you can go paragliding. The hotel staff were quite enthusiastic, but when settling the exchange rate, they were too clever and gave me 43 for 1 U.S. dollar. The normal rate at the airport was 46. To be honest, I didn’t have much money, but I just felt uncomfortable. Regarding lunch, it costs 30 US dollars, but it is relatively simple and has not many tricks. Breakfast is basically the same every day. There are local weddings held every day in the hotel, which is very festive and shows that the hotel's consumption is reasonable. It is a very cost-effective seaside hotel in the Grand Bay area of Mauritius and is worth staying for many days."

"A great hotel, everything is new and clean, the service is excellent. Everything is included, which is important, as this part of the island has almost no restaurants, cafes, or shops, if any. You can even try lobster for dinner. However, I would draw the management's attention to the cleanliness of the dishes in the dining room. This isn't just my opinion; it's a health issue! A hotel of this caliber should not tolerate "grabbed" plates or, excuse me, unwashed ones. The grounds are very beautiful and well-maintained, but the beach is windy and not the most convenient, though there are swimming pools. If you go to the right, there are more comfortable areas with beautiful views."

"The location is nice, the grounds are large and beautiful. The hotel is a bit rundown, the staff is lazy, and the food is average. If you go later, there's almost nothing left. Dinner is from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM, and by 8:00 PM, they don't serve decent food anymore, only leftovers. Overall, it's a C-grade; the price/quality ratio doesn't match a 5-star establishment."
