Nice location and plenty to explore within short distance. Friendly staff and decent, value for money in house restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Only downside is the weak shower water pressure, otherwise all good. There is a off road bike trail opposite the hotel handy for beginner cyclists and kids.

My first stay at this particular Premier Inn, sadly I was far from impressed. This was a special getaway night for myself and my partner, we got there close to 6PM and waited a few minutes for someone on reception, eventually 2 young Ladies appeared giggling out of a back office area, it's not secret there is CCTV covering the area, amd being in a unique situation of working in and around hotel grounds there is a high degree of probability te same back office will have a screen showing the very same CCTV. The young lady was pretty blasé and went through the basic motions. This was the only time I saw any member of staff. Location is about 15 minutes on foot from the town centre. There is a bus stop just outside the door and a small car park onsite. When I got to the room, apart from it being well presented and clean, the first thing that hit was how cold it was. When we turned the AC system on, it is centrally locked to a maximum 21°C (Energy efficiency...) this never warmed the room up during the stay. Ironically, there is an A4 sheet of laminated paper stating that if your room is too warm, ask reception. I phoned up the Tuesday and requested a couple of gifts be left in the room for our arrival. I was assured by whomever I spoke to this was a common thing and was happy to accommodate this request. I asked how I paid for it and was told to settle it when I was on site. Nothing was left in the room. Save 2 sachets of coffee, 2 teabags, 4 pots of milk, and 6 sugars. Washing my hands and face, I was met with a towel that looked like I'd cleaned a bike sprocket and chain with. 2 holes in it. Not exactly Premier. Lastly, the bed, it was extremely uncomfortable, I awoke several times (7 according to the sleep tracker) in some discomfort and still cold. When we did wake up, we both felt tired and irritable, we left and left the card keys in the box on reception. Safe to say I don't think I'll be booking here again. Note: Left same review on Google

Booked this hotel as a convenient location for exploring the Peak District with a friend. We had previously stayed at this hotel in May and been impressed with the overall parking and facilities, so chose to return and continue finding more walking routes in the area. On this occasion we were struck by the sense of disorganisation, staff were as friendly and helpful as they could be but clearly understaffed and this led to delays checking in, and extremely lengthy evening meals. Staff seemed overwhelmed, having to multi-task on the desk, and in the kitchen. Several items not on the menu including rice, red pepper and ice cream. Meal deals booked for 2 nights, both evenings this took around 2 hours for us to finish our meals. Staff were apologetic but we felt that there was a lack of management support and planning which impacted negatively on our stay. We did see that as a lady on the next table had requested rice, a member of the team went to the nearby Sainsbury’s and brought her a microwave bag of rice to go with her curry so they were clearly trying to makeup for the lack of planning in the kitchen

We booked and stayed five nights at the Premier Inn at Matlock, from Friday 13 September to Wednesday 18 September. We were there for a reunion with a group which booked nine rooms. This was by far the worst experience we have ever had at a Premier Inn. The initial cost without meals was £492 which, if breakfast is taken into account, would be £120.38 bed and breakfast per room per night. Premier Inn used to be considered a budget hotel and lack of facilities, minimum staff, poor quality toilet paper, no toiletries, etc could be accepted but at rates often above those of fully functioning hotels this is no longer the case. At Matlock there is not even a public space with chairs where you can wait for others or a comfortable bar area for a chat later in the evening. Problems: We arrived with another couple whose allocated room was not made up. We had a dirty towel in ours. These problems were resolved. Our room smelled sweaty and as in most of your hotels it was not possible to open the window. Air conditioning is not a substitute. As a group we wanted to eat together but there was always an uncertainty that a chef could be found. The menu was restricted and the restaurant and bar were unexpectedly closed on the Sunday. The coffee machine was out of order at breakfast for the entire stay. Amongst other items there was no marmalade or meusli. On the Monday evening there was no red wine or bottled beer. The staff did their best but it was clear that they were also unhappy with the situation and that they were short staffed.

Good size car park. Easy check in There was an unpleasant smell in the corridor to the room. The room was very comfortable, the only thing is the shower over the bath is good but it is quite a step into the bath. Breakfast. They just seemed to be under staffed and the guy showing you to a table and clearing tables was under pressure as breakfast was so busy. It would be easy to criticise him but this is something management are responsible for. Would I stay again, sorry no.

A rather disappointing Premier Inn. Room fine, bed fine and shower fine. As expected. However, on both the mornings we were here the coffee was from sachets and the ‘hot’ breakfast was really cold. On the one night we dined in there were many unavailable items and no lagers or ales. Room air con would not go below a set temperature. Overall pretty disappointing and not of the standard expected from Premier inn.

Good sized comfortable rooms, nice and clean, did not have any food at the hotel as wanted to eat out as there were plenty of places to eat out, great location would book again if in the area, good size car park and it’s free to park if you are staying over as long as you put your car registration into the tablet at reception

We arrived early booked our car into the car park and went into Matlock Bath.Easy check in with a really nice guy who told us about the hotel etc. Our room was on floor 2 (room202) and it was spacious and clean. Plenty of tea, coffee milk and sugar. The bed was the comfiest I’ve ever slept in! The room was very warm , but there was a thermostat which was easy to use and we soon had the room temperature just right. The hotel was clean throughout and I’d definitely stay there again.

Stayed at Matlock Premier Inn early August 2024. Staff pleasant and accommodating when we decided to book for evening meal, last minute. Food was really nice, only comment to make is evening chef perhaps needs to attend a food hygiene course, as observed him dishing up with his hands. They may have been clean, but unprofessional
