We stayed for 2 nights and wished we stayed longer! Room was spacious and clean with an amazing view on the high floor. We had dinner buffet at Weligama Kitchen and food was great! Breakfast served there was delicious with great variety from Western , Asian, Indian but the Sri Lankan style breakfast was the best! Tide Bar is a great place to relax and have drinks with scrumptious snack too. We spent most of our time at the resort and it was very relaxing. The environment was suitable for couples and family at the same time. Lastly, service was top notch, everyone was friendly and helpful. TK and Kalpani from Weligama kitchen always checking on us, Sachinthaka , Asanka and Dharmika from Tides always cheerful and greeting us when we head there for drinks. Would definitely return and recommend to family and friends visiting beautiful Sri Lanka!

We stayed at the hotel in July 2024 and liked everything very much. Responsive staff, check-in and check-out did not take much time. At breakfast I was pleased with the abundance of fruits, and for dinner there were a lot of sweets. The breakfast and dinner menu is varied. Two beaches, a swimming pool, well-groomed green areas. Wonderful, relaxing holiday! The rooms are really tired, but this was not a problem. We really liked everything!

The environment is first-class, it is a good place for a vacation, and the staff are very friendly and enthusiastic! We used the taxi app Pick Me to take a taxi in Galle, and then took the bus to Mirissa. In fact, as long as it is not the rush hour, the conditions of their buses are passable. Much cleaner than India, maybe there will be surprises
On Sri Lanka's sun-baked south coast near the fishing town of Tangalle, Amanwella lies amid 37 acres of coconut trees next to a perfect crescent of golden sand. Combining modernist lines and indigenous materials, the suites are inspired by the work of famed Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa. Flooded with light, they each open on two sides to private plunge pools and large terraces overlooking the Indian Ocean. Away from the palm-shaded private beach club and the 47-metre pool, the area's diverse attractions - including tea plantations, treks and temple visits - capture Sri Lanka at its most authentic. Massages and body treatments using all-natural products are available at the Spa. The Restaurant and Beach Club specialise in locally-caught seafood as well as vibrant Sri Lankan curry dishes.

Reception: The entry was marked with a ceremonial greeting/local prayer from the staff who were courteous enough to show us through the grounds for amenity placement etc. Check in was seamless along with a tour of the place. Lahiru our butler in charge drove us to our villa along with contact information. Stay The entire time we were there (4 nights), it felt as though we were the only two people on the compound. Moments on the premise there was ever a kind face greeting or passing by. The Beach club area was such a treat with life guards ever keeping a keen eye all across the area to ensure full coverage in the event of a forceful current/wave. The Spa also had to get a visit from us as we neared the end of our trip. Both masseuse were on point and had us rejuvenated for the remainder f our stay. Meals The Meals were, to say the least outstanding at every juncture. The turnaround time is about half an hour which for a place of close to 40 villas - was really fast. The service was impeccable - both the set ups as well as the ambience set up. The server in charge of our villa Kasun was ever attentive and went an extra mile to see to it that my wife and I received top caliber treatment along with bursts of surprises to spruce up the romance. Hospitality Room service as well as turn down service was impeccable. The team went an extra mile to ensure we had all the amenities we needed - guest appreciation, sorting our laundry half way through our short stay, turn down service (which I felt was too good that they almost force it on you since they want all guests to leave with a touch of it). Exit The checkout process was easy - allowing for an extension into the late afternoon to accommodate our airport trip and flight times. We had the ceremonial Aman au revoir where the General Manager Sonam and his Assistant GM Prem were present. Outstanding stay all around. Special thanks to the first and foremost, Kasun for making the impossible happen and above all, the Assistant Manager, Mr Prem Chundawat who was ever so available, went out of his away to ensure we were well catered for as well as taking on some near and far requests last minute. We cannot wait to incorporate the Aman brand and experience to our travels in the near future.

The beach at the hotel is too wavy to swim and can only bask in the sun. But not far away, there is another public beach more than 100 meters, where you can swim. There are many choices for buffet breakfast and dinner, and the taste is good. Of course, there are occasional mistakes, such as grilled too raw beef shoulder. There are very few things for children to entertain. There is a game room where you can draw, watch TV, play games, etc., but the maintenance is not very good. The service is generally good, ushered in. However, there are more ingredients for the show, and some details need attention. Overall, the price / performance ratio is average, and it should be done.
Amangalla lies within the ramparts of Sri Lanka’s 17th-century Galle Fort, a Unesco World Heritage Site. Offering views of the Fort and harbour on one side and the hotel’s lush gardens and swimming pool on the other, the historic residence, which has welcomed guests for over 150 years, presents lofty-ceilinged suites, elegant dining and a tranquil Spa complete with Hydrotherapy Suites.
Amangalla offers guests a sublime taste of International cuisine as well as Sri Lanka’s legendary flavours in a host of atmospheric settings - from candlelit dining in the Dining Room to the indulgence of afternoon teas on the sunny veranda and long lazy lunches by the pool.
The ramparts of Galle Fort hold within a bustling time capsule – narrow streets lined with old houses, churches, boutiques and restaurants displaying their Dutch and British colonial heritage. Simply step off Amangalla’s veranda to explore this world, or venture farther afield with an Aman guide to discover the region’s temples, beaches and blue whales on personalised journeys.
Reflecting Galle Fort’s rich colonial legacy, Amangalla Rooms, Chambers and Suites feature private bathrooms with separate bathtubs and showers. Conveniences include safes and desks, and housekeeping is provided daily. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected.

Departed for Sri Lanka on September 28, 2023, and checked into the Amangalla Hotel in Galle Fort. It was the sixth Aman hotel to check in. It felt great. Amangalla was built in the 17th century. It was formerly a military command in the Netherlands. It later became the first hotel in Sri Lanka. It was acquired by the Aman Group in 1995. The hotel is not big, but it is well-equipped with swimming pools, massage pools, yoga rooms, etc. , you can experience local shaving services and foot massages.
Amangalla is the smallest Aman I have ever stayed in. It is in the middle of the ancient city of Galle and a 10-minute walk from the lighthouse. The surrounding area is very convenient for eating, drinking and entertainment. There is the Tuna and the Crab restaurant, which is a brother restaurant of the one-Michelin-star restaurant in Colombo. If you have enough money, you can try it.
Be sure to choose his tea plantation tour, which will also take you to see the sea turtle hatching base and stilt fishing. It was very interesting. Although I fell off and stepped on a rock while fishing on stilts and was injured, I gained interesting photos and a rare life experience. The ancient city of Galle is also worth visiting. Amangalla can arrange cars and tour guides. The hotel is right in the center of the ancient city. The location is good and it is very convenient to go everywhere. Although I fell into the sea while fishing on stilts and cut my feet. All in all, it was still a very interesting experience.
The two Amans in Sri Lanka are different from the ones we stayed in before. They are far away from Colombo and do not provide free airport pick-up services. The airport pick-up fee for the five of us was about US$400 in a large amanganla. It should be noted that if two Aman activities are booked for consecutive days, they generally need to be booked from the official website, not Ctrip agents.
With a stay at Le Grand Galle, you'll be centrally located in Galle, a 7-minute walk from St. Aloysius College and 12 minutes by foot from All Saints Anglican Church. This beach hotel is 0.7 mi (1.2 km) from Dutch Reformed Church and 0.8 mi (1.3 km) from National Maritime Museum.
Relax at the full-service spa, where you can enjoy massages. If you're looking for recreational opportunities, you'll find an outdoor pool, a sauna, and a fitness center. Additional amenities at this hotel include complimentary wireless internet access, concierge services, and barbecue grills.
Grab a bite at Taste, one of the hotel's 2 restaurants, or stay in and take advantage of the 24-hour room service. Relax with your favorite drink at the bar/lounge or the poolside bar.
Featured amenities include a business center, express check-in, and express check-out. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free valet parking is available onsite.

We visited during off-season, so there were very few other guests. The first morning we had an unusual ”set” breakfast, which was understandable as no buffet was offered when there were so few guests. Water pressure/temperature was unstable and there was a weird pulsating noise in the bathroom. On the positive side, the staff were very nice, friendly, and helpful. It's a lovely estate in absolute terms and stunning in relative terms. Very near the trendy fort area, which is worth a visit. Overall pleased.

Vviola-tianWalking to the beach 200 meters, it is convenient to not belong to the first-line sea view. The hotel is newly built, it looks very good in the vicinity, and the breakfast is also rich. I booked two orders separately. The first night showed that I could only live one person. The second night was on the first floor of the pool. I sent an email to the hotel in advance to confirm whether I could live two people. The hotel quickly replied OK. When we arrived at the hotel, the front desk took the initiative to arrange as much as possible not to let us change rooms, and we could always stay in the upstairs room. In the room, I saw the peacock flying on the roof and flying high coconut trees. The small squirrel was also a frequent visitor on the coconut tree.
GGuest UserLocation location location!
This spot is perfect to soak up everything Mirissa beach has to offer. It’s right by the main beach in the town with options for Snorkling, whale watching, dining, drinking, parrot island & coconut tree hill just minutes away.
The room was lovely, spacious & clean. We had a very small problem of monkeys coming onto our balcony during the night & rearranged our chairs & drying clothes for us but the friendly staff took care of everything in the morning.
The perfect hotel to enjoy Mirissa.
CCptaylor91The kindest people in Marissa! The room was clean, modern, and ready for us when we arrived. The owner was even kind enough to upgrade us for free when he learned it was our honeymoon! Breakfast was prepared daily with coffee and tea. The beach is less than 1 minute from the building, literally directly across from the main entrance but on the opposite side of the road. Being on the other side of the road, it isn't loud at night with the partying going on at the beach so if you crash early it's the perfect location. The local workers even helped my wife and I get to Hikkadua safely. If you use the PickMe app in certain locations, the local Tuk Tuks won't let them pick you up. As our driver got shoed away at the beach entrance, the local Tuk Tuk alpha got all pissed and was trying to force his cab on us aggressively. The workers back at the Ocean Reach called someone they knew who came and scooped us minutes later. That kindness will never be forgotten! Don't expect luxury but this place is exactly what you need to enjoy Marissa!
TTraveling TanI enjoyed my time at Ara Beach Resort, thanks to its excellent location and the fabulous pool. The staff were friendly and added to the resort's pleasant atmosphere.
However, I'd suggest a little more focus on cleaning and keeping the buffet breakfast items hot. The food was delicious but consistently served cold.
With these small changes, Ara Beach Resort could be even more wonderful.
GGuest UserNice hotel with clean rooms, nice view, friendly staff, close to the ocean. A great place to relax with the whole family or with friends!) If you surf, Chill Bay is a great choice, as there are many cool surf camps across the street. I recommend you to visit, you will not regret it
GGuest UserThe first best quality I saw in the hotel was maintained very good customer service. They are ready to listen to the customer very well and fulfill the need quickly. The hotel has beautiful access .The view is such a amazing🔥... I just had an nice massage on there Ayurvedic spa which I would recommend everyone who visit here. The room are very clean and Luxury I just love it. I attended an event here and the food and drinks were very good and the atmosphere was very good. It is equipped with a hall with good space. This is good place where you plan to a company get together and all. Talking about food, you can get different varieties of food here. And it's taste amazing.. Overall, I can say that I got a very good experience. A hotel worth visiting.🙌
MMariaXThis hotel is right on the beach & has a nice swimmingpool. Location was fab, quiet part of the beach, short walk into Weligama & a short tuktukride away from Mirissa. The buildings look shabby and not well maintained but room was nice enough. It was a small chalet overlooking the pool with your own terrace. Fridge in the room including drinks for a fair price and complimentary bottle of water. Electric kettle but lack of electronic sockets, I ended up charging my phone on the terrace. Bathroom needs an update/some paint but nice shower including hot water. AC/fan/working wifi and mosquito nets. If they invest in it this place could look really good. Hotel was fairly quiet when I was there. I heard they do lots of package deals with Germans/Russians, menu was listed in German too (only time I've seen this in Sri Lanka). Food was average but OK. Lots of dogs and cats on the grounds they sleep everywhere but none of them bothered me, they must get food from the hotel. Laundry was very expensive (5k) but the room was really cheap, was referred by locals who negotiated for me. In the room next to me were drivers who got an even better price! There was a great spot for drinks/rotis on the beach a few mins away in direction of Weligama. Few surfschools just on the beach. Would stay again, good value for money but would check how busy it is. Staff was friendly, only reception did not speak English very well. Tuktuk drivers outside ask way too much, start with 50% of what they ask...
GGuest UserCentral Beach Inn has a bunch of different room types at different price points. We stayed in the deluxe balcony with AC. Overall the room was ok and a decent size. My friend had issues with the bathroom door since it is very short and he is 6’1” (he hit his head several times). The room has a sort of colonial romantic feel with dark wood furniture and a four-poster bed with white mosquito netting. Standard amenities – WiFi, safe, small fridge, overhead fan, mini bar (electric kettle and coffee/tea), and toiletries. The steps to the balcony were very steep with a higher than normal rise and were shared with one other unit. A basin with water was on the landing for the stairs so that you could wash off sand from your feet. A gate was at base of the stairs. Breakfast was not included, and we did not eat at the restaurant. We did not have the room serviced while there by choice, but I think you have to ask if you want it cleaned. Comparison time: We stayed at two places in Mirissa Beach – Central Beach and Dream Palace. The two hotels are back-to-back with Central taking the beachfront and Dream Palace taking the street front. They both have their pros and cons. The rooms were significantly nicer and cleaner at Dream Palace, but I liked mattress better at Central as it was a little less hard. Both places had the same room amenities. You hear the music from the beach nightclubs at Central whereas you get the early morning beeping and bread-tuk tuk music from the street at Dream Palace (although the rear rooms are much quieter). Central is beach front and Dream Palace means that you walk through another hotel, for which the gates may all be locked after 1:00 am (be warned!). You will have to climb stairs at Dream Palace, but you can get a ground level room at Central. The service was significantly better and much more friendly at Dream Palace (family run) compared to the more business feel of Central. Central has a full restaurant and Dream Palace does not. The WiFi was somewhat stronger at Central and allowed for internet phone calls. Dream Palace is more budget friendly since it is not beachfront. As for Mirissa Beach itself, the beach is beautiful! The waves are very large and consistently frequent which means they may not be good for children or those who do not like to get batted around by waves. However, there is an area at the end of the beach by Parrot Rock with very gentle small waves that is good for kids. The beach is very busy all of the time and people come here for the nightlife. At least one restaurant a night turns into a club with a dj (until 3 or 4 am). At one end of the beach, they will put out these lit up frames that kind of look like giant eggbeaters out front of the bar that will be the club that night. They also have live music earlier in the evening at some of the other places. Mirissa Beach is a good central location on the south shore to make quick trips to Weligama (surfing) and Matara (city), and longer trips to Unawatuna
GGuest Uservery outdated, terrabale place, there is no connection between the pictures and reality, the hotel area looks like a garage floor, the pool area is neglected and outdated, furniture in the rooms is outdated and worn but the room is large, ants in the room and when we arrived the sheets were dirty. No hot water on rainy days. Located above a gas station . The only advantage is a location close to the beach and the center and the employee at the place was nice to us. The owner of the place charged an advance payment for two nights, the weather was stormy and we asked to leave early, I was told that the policy is not to refund, I accepted with understanding, but after in the evening it became clear that there was no hot water and I had no possibility of getting breakfast at an early hour, I again demanded that the difference for the night be returned to me The second one I will not use and the owner of the place did not show any flexibility and emphasized again that there is a policy. We must have been the only prairies who chose this wretched place
